IGN: James Bond 007: Blood Stone Review

Blood Stone is not a bad game: it's just a painfully average one. There aren't any majorly broken elements to it, but just because this Stone is relatively polished, doesn't make it a gem. There really isn't anything at all remarkable about it, and even though it's extremely short it still manages to wear out its welcome thanks to its extremely repetitive design. If GoldenEye is indeed the Sean Connery of 007 video games, then Blood Stone is the George Lazenby; not bad, but not good either, and forgettable in almost every way. At just five hours long and lacking in any real innovation or challenge, it won't leave you feeling shaken nor stirred, just shortchanged.

Not that this means much to most people, but IGN gave Goldeneye a 9.0. I just got back from picking it up. Hope it's as good as they say.

@sinncross- I remember HHG saying that this was going to be an AAA game. I'm starting to think that HHG may be to easy to please. He rarely gives a bad review. From what I remember, he gave Prototype a 9.7/10. I bought Prototype on his recommendation alone...and the game AT BEST is a 7.5 IMO.

Because just as you said giving Prototype isn't a 9.7...I think he's trying to be a crowd pleaser, because if he rarely disses a game then theoretically he shouldn't loose any fans but because he can't see past his nose he doesn't realise that it only makes him look like an idiot.

Correction: The last good Bond game was Everything or Nothing. Nightfire was amazing on PS2/Xbox/Gamecube (the PC port was FUCKING TERRIBLE), but EoN was also brilliant.

Has the guy that reviewed it even seen the last two Bond movies? He complains of no gadgets and big villain and the last two movies didn't have anything like that. Anyway I watched the live stream of this game being played and it looked pretty good.

I mean, I watched this on justin.tv and watched a youtube review by an actual fan of Bond...and the review was surprisingly informative not just fanboy crap.

And I'm sold...I'll be trading in Fable 2 (what a disappointment) & star wars Unleashed 2 (not as disappointing, but single player games need to figure out a compelling reason to not trade them...as it was too short. But fun. 90% of the combos are unnecessary...but thats an issue with all hack n. slashers.)

Anyhow, I'm looking forward to this game...and make sure to play it on 007 difficulty....this reviewer complains about the stealth not being needed, try it on 007! My friend has it and he says it changes how you must play. (which isn't really Danial Criag's style, but still fun!)

Wtf? This game is NOT that bad! I've been playing it since yesterday. Definitely not a 5/10.

Never heard of this Tristan Ogilivie reviewer before either. Probably just some punk trying to make a name for himself by tearing apart whatever game he got assigned to for his $6.00 an hour internship, lol.

He wants cars and boats from the campaign in the online? Umm, what? How the frag would that work or make sense? This isn't Twisted Metal newb!

The CQC takedowns are wicked, the music is good, controls are smooth and simple, it feels like a Craig era Bond game should. Like a tweaked 'Everything Or Nothing'. Easily better than the Bourne Conspiracy game from a couple years ago which couldn't even get Matt Damon's likeness or voice lol, and IGN gave THAT a 7.5!

Anyway, the game looks great, along the lines of Everything or Nothing, so I wouldn't even go by this review. Fuck IGN.
