IGN: Goldeneye 007 Review

I can understand there’s a bit of resistance to the idea that GoldenEye 007 on Wii is anything but a cash-in for Activision, but believe it when I say that this game is one of the best Wii games of the year. Things might have changed in the last 15 years, but at the very least Activision and Eurocom have done wonders to capture the essence that the original Nintendo 64 game grabbed a decade and a half ago. I don’t think the WIi game will change the FPS genre in the same way the Rare design did, but as a standalone, original experience, it’s hard to deny this game’s greatness.

I regret selling my Wii...

I bought a Wii on day 1 for like $400aus...even after buying my Gamecube for $550AUS it felt like a disappointment. No Zelda or Mario ( or Mario Kart ) on day 1, yet her we are, 480p later and still trumping the cookie cutter-pc-lite consoles who's running $#!+.

Yeah your right the Wii's game library is 10x better than the the combined game libraries of the PS3 & Xbox.

Games such Uncharted,Gears of War,LBP,GTs,Halos,Killzone 3d,GTAs,RDR,God of War.... ect. can't compete against the superior Wii.

@Jony, The most pathetic thing is to make the Wii look bad you had to name off games for 2 consoles to make one single console look bad..

Civ 5, Diablo 3, Starcraft 2, SMG, Golden Eye, Kirby, DKC, SMBWii, Crisis,GTA, RDR, Borderlands, Bioshock, Dragon age, Monster Hunter, Metroid, COD, and on and on and on. All without owning either a PS3 or a 360...

Uncharted 2 huh? What makes it so great?1080p? I am sure if I looked into it I'd find it wasnt even at that res..

Going by review scores and sales SMG2 trumps anything on PS3 including uncharted. It is after all the highest rated exclusive this gen.

I am sure though that you will come up with some way that completely revolves around 1 aspect of the game to prove it is superior..

Fact is I just showed you do not even need a PS3 this gen to experience great games. Oh and even your post alone proves that you need more than a PS3 this gen or you wouldnt be naming off 360 games.

I really didn't want to even look at this game. Activision redoing a classic and changing most of the major elements simply made me think "cash-in."

i knew it would get a 9 i mean the sound of the guns and the atmosphere sound is amazing stuff and the graphics are very good i thought it would get 9.4 on ign maybe the UK review will be higher but wow with so many ps3 games getting bad reviews this is very refreshing and its Goldeneye alot to live up to and still gets a 9/10 WOW

Wow... color me surprised. When I first heard of this, the game screamed rogue agent-esque cash in that used the name to spur sales. I'm very happy to be proven wrong. The Devs were playing with fire when they decided to bring this back, and it seems like they got out of it with minimal burns. Good job, guys.
