11 Games that Helped the PlayStation 2 Dominate the Competition

EX: "It’s been a decade since the PlayStation 2 debuted in North America, and still today it and it considered one of the most dominant consoles of all time, thanks largely to its enormous library of must-play exclusive titles. It is these games that successfully staved off the advance of Sony’s competitors, Microsoft’s Xbox and Nintendo’s Gamecube, and ultimately defined the PlayStation 2’s legacy."

Psh. PS2 might have sold more, but Xbox had games that were a hundred times better than this garbage list. Halo, KOTOR, Jade Empire, Fable > PlayStation 2's library.

Trolls are high these days clearly.

Lack of quality exclusives tends to distort reality

@talksPoop

If it wasn't for PlayStation, the Xbox brand wouldn't exist.

If it wasn't for Nintendo, the Playstation brand wouldn't exist.

How anyone could troll the PS2's library is beyond me

Genecalypse4946d ago

I like how all of those are on the PC

DoomeDx4946d ago

The only game i enjoyed on the old xbox, we're Halo 1, and far cry instincs.

thats it. really

baodeus4946d ago

dang you definetly haven't play some other way underated game on the xbox (phantom dust, Panza Dragoon Orta, Otogi, etc...). Personnally, phantom dust is the best game period for me (even over this gen).

Nontheless, PS2 has a lot of games, many of them are also very good (especially the RPG sections). Why limit your self to just a couple of game on the xbox when there are also many other good games out there on the Ps2?

Get all if you are a gamer.

Some people's trolling is just too horrible...COUGHpoopnscoopCOUG H. It's not that it's even offensive either, it's the fact they try TOO HARD!

Ontopic, omg FFX release...Never forget the first time I saw the commercial on Toonami, I was 11 years old. That was the first FF that had me SO HYPED! Not even 7 hyped me the way this did. I literally saved my lunch money for a month to get FF10. That was my first PS2 game.

WoshJills4946d ago

Yeah it was my first PS2 game as well.
It was awesome.

WoshJills4946d ago

Yeah it was my first PS2 game as well. It was awesome. I think I'll go play it on my backwards compatible 320GB PS3. =DD

WoshJills4946d ago (Edited 4946d ago )

Those are awesome games, but I wouldn't go so far to say that it trumps PlayStation 2's entire library.

Don't forget PS2's could also play PS1 games...
meaning
Crash Bandicoot
Spyro the Dragon
Rayman
Oddworld
Resident Evil
Metal Gear Solid

...yeah. Xbox is cool, and the console its self was way better than the PS2, but its games that matter. Hell an Xbox 360 is just a relaunched Xbox with updated processors and no hard drive.

If I could buy a brand new original Xbox at a store, I would. But I can only find PS2s.

It adds to the ambiance that is N4G.

lolcatz4946d ago

This list needs Tekken or Virtua Fighter. No hardcore fighting fan went with Xbox and Dead or Alive.

na-no-nai4946d ago

lol funny out of those 11 games, i only play Final Fantasy X and Gran Turismo 3

VersusEM4946d ago

wait does Naughty Dog and Insomniac Games work in the same building, I think it would be really cool if they made a game together.

Jack-Pyro4946d ago

Nope, they're separate companies in separate cities, though I do agree a tag-team project would be f-ing sweet!

Genecalypse4946d ago

They used to work in the same building at Universal studios

A Matter Of Trust: What The Game Industry Should Do To Win Gamers Back

Skewed and Reviewed have written an Opinion Piece covering issues in the gaming industry, how current issues were issues years ago, and what can be done to help restore consumer trust.

anast3d ago

Nothing. It's up to the gamers to stop consuming content from companies that they don't agree with.

Garethvk2d ago

How do you know if you agree with it or not unless you play it? Which without conventions forces gamers to rely on trailers. Perhaps Demos should be made more frequently. But companies need to do better as well.

anast2d ago

Wait until release. Watch Gameplay. Exercise patience.

Garethvk2d ago

But is that not what they have now? Tons of gameplay or are you talking about watching actual gamers play it versus the trailers and streams? The big issue is that some companies pay streamers and influencers and they create content but for me; that is hardly a fair, unbiased, and factual look at a game.

1nsomniac3d ago

Get rid of the suits in the industry and job done!!

Garethvk2d ago

They usually are attached to the money sadly. It would be nice to have gamers in charge but you have so much money invested that business people are needed. Hence the issue; you need people who know business but are also gamers who know have an eye to the community. It sounds simple in theory that if you give gamers quality games that they want to play; money will be made. But that is not always so.
