I fully agree. I effing hate this game. Not only is it the biggest disappointment of the entire generation, it's one of the most infuriating and worthless games I have ever attempted to play.

Haha good thing I didn't try the beta or bought the game, my bandwidth deserves attention for better games.

Also, only 3 classes = fail. Especially for a MMORPG. I'd like a little variety in my RPG thanks.. 3 classes is not enough. Not to mention 2 of the 3 are the most boring and generic classes in the history of RPG..

This review is absolutely retarded. Almost 90% of the crap mentioned are things that many hardcore gamers are glad it has. I don't want all my quest givers, quest locations and quest turn ins to be marked on the map...

pvp... auction house... and I particularly enjoy this line: "a map that actually shows you where things are… all these are missing presumed forgotten."

Sooooo typical of players today. Square didn't forget, Square deliberately made it CHALLENGING. If you have everything handed to you, its just another wow.. if anybody here really got into FFXI you'll know what I'm talking about. Running from your starting city to Jueno in FFXI was HUGEEE and FINALLY getting your chocobo license at 20 felt very satisfying. Even when you had your license there were still lots of areas you had to run on foot and sneak around using sneak oils or invisibility... the 1 or 2% drop rates on incredible items made them worth 100x more, and 500x more satisfying when you got one of them. I'm not saying it wasn't tedious and incredibly frustrating at times, but in the end there was much more satisfaction to be had, it had this pull factor that somehow convinced hundreds of thousands of people to feel the same way.

The only problems I have are certain fundamentals that they've already cleared up and mentioned in upcoming patches. Things like item sort, chat system, menu lag, combat glitchy-ness.. all that SHOULD have been in at launch, but wasn't and for that I was seriously let down and canceled my subscription until it's out for ps3 most likely (assuming they will have fixed it by then). That being said, I still get a good laugh in when people complain about not everything showing up on the maps or GPS directions to quests givers / quests, or people complaining that they have to run to the next zone on foot.

..just my 2cents of course, I still think its a terrible review although it is a terrible game right now so I can't disagree with the score... how he came to that score was pretty sad though.

I can't see why people hate this game so much, and praise wow to such a high degree. I tried to get into wow 3 times over the course of 3 years, and that game bored me to tears sometimes. I don't know why I couldn't get into it, but I always felt underwhelmed when my friends who played it religiously tried to show me "cool" raids on bosses an other crap, everyone just stands still while others buff. It looked so incredibly boring. And don't get me started on the "cool" story fmvs, I literally lol'd when my brother showed me some lame alliance assault/siege (or w/e) cut-scene. The CG intros are nice however.

Maybe it's just the shiny new graphics, but I actually enjoyed the beta. In wow, I never understood why you had to walk all over the god damn map just the get simple quests, and always wondered why, in this fictional universe, was there no privatized or regulated questing faction.

This is the problem I have with it.. I enjoyed the beta as well, in wow even my buddies who tried convincing me would say things like "you have to get to endgame thats when the game starts getting good"

to me, this sounded terrible.. in FFXI I swear it took me like a year to hit top level and i spent all day every day on that damn game just doing things... I can't even think of all the different things I was doing on my way up to the top level... FFXIV felt similar.

In beta, I felt like I did just as many things from 1-10 as I did throughout wow 1-80.

First of all, I picked up on how the game works fairly fast. Square-Enix also obviously knows what their doing, but when making something as MASSIVE as an MMO, you're going to come across more than a few problems not found in your average game.

It seems to me that hardly anyone here has any legitimate counter-argument besides the fucking landscape repeating, which is bullshit and so-called boring side quests. And for the 10+ assholes who disagreed with me are those people who probably never played the "ACTUAL" game or just need something to whine about. Deal with it or get off the forum topics for this game.

As for the terrain, all I have to say is, "Have you even played the fucking game?" Clearly not because the only time you see something added into the land, that is seen elsewhere, are the Adventure Guild stations where you get your leves, the cave entrances in the game, and some narrow pathways. (NOTE: I have explored nearly 75%+ of this game's landscape) and EVERYTHING is unique in it's own right. They all have their own weather system, mob spawns, geography, etc. YOU ARE BOUND to throw in a similar texture, bump map, or too in the area for the shear size the game aims for on launch. And it's only going to expand, if it can maintain and gain more members. FFXI and WOW weren't perfect at launch either, some are hit or miss at launch and improve in time. Yet, no one gives anything a chance in this industry, especially the rabid fans.

The game's NOT perfect, hell, it probably deserves no greater than an 8 or an 8.5, but from the reviews I've seen, you people are fucking over-reacting WAY too much over silly shit that CAN AND WILL BE FIXED within the next 2 months. So, just wait if you have to, but don't write an MMO off the chart just yet.

I was lucky/unlucky (you choose) to have extensively played this game through beta testing and I can thoroughly say the game deserves all the low review scores it is getting. Everything negative that's being said about the game is spot on. Yes there are good points, but they are few and overshadowed by the bad. Being in the beta you see what goes on behind the scenes and I can tell you there are HUGE threads listing problems/bugs with this game, from minor things to game breaking things ... virtually all of them still exist in the retail version.

I remember playing it one day and going to post some more bug reports when I noticed the announced release date. I though it was some kind of typo, or someone had gotten hold of the old worksheet with the expected release date, since it was unanimous amongst all the testers that FFXIV was NOT ready to be released, not for at least another 6 to 9 months in order to even just fix the big problems. But no, they said it'll be ok, we can fix the problems after it's released, a mere couple of months later FFXIV hits market and is beaten down like the abomination it is.

For all the game is and all it wants to be, you can't stand by and defend it so vigorously when you know the game is broken, SE knew it was, they were told constantly, but they released it anyway.

I always thought the game was being reviewed badly bcuz of their wow expectations.

But you hit the nail on the head, ffxi was hard but when you got what you went after it was really rewarding.

Now all I gotta do wait for them to patch it up for those little issues, get a new laptop and I'm game.

Wow has so many things and features, it appeals to any audience really.. but they've just made it way too easy now I mean purples SHOULD be as frequent as say, leaping boots or strider boots.. back when you had to camp for those haha. They required a lot of time to get I swear everytime I saw "Leaping Lizzy" pop up on my screen my heart just dropped and I did everything I could to claim it. I never got this feeling in wow, ever.

Other things that were way too easy I thought was the crafting.. You pretty much hit 1 button.

Also, the character stats held a lot more.. id ont know.. "weight" ? like 12 DEX on 1 item was huge for example.. this made every piece of gear so valuable, so important, and even if half the people looked the exact same, everyone was so satisfied because they had that "cool" item finally. I remember all the rangers running around they all looked the same in their artifact gear, but it was SO badass lol.

In wow, you get what, +150 +200 ur stats are in the thousands and +10 here or +10 there mean absolutely nothing anymore.. It's actually very hard to explain lol

Anyway yeah, here's to hoping they patch that shit so I can get give it another shot lol
