The 10 best PS3 special editions

Today, every major PS3 release has an alternative special edition.

For a few quid more - sometimes, many quid more - you get a fancy box stuffed with extras: an art book, a soundtrack CD, bonus DLC, high-tech surveillance equipment, and the bragging rights that come with having the best version of the game.

The only Special Edition Ive ever purchased... GOW 3 The Ultimate Edition. Worth every penny & more.

OtherWhiteMeat4948d ago

That might be one of the all-time best.Wish I bought it.

JoySticksFTW4948d ago

Hands down...

It came with a CD of the creepy-ass soundtrack,an art book, and most importantly a highly-prized strategy guide

And that strategy guide was packed with all weapons / item explanations and locations, upgrade paths, walkthroughs, character builds, world tendency events, and the path to the perfect playthrough

The only thing that could have made it better was full on maps, which were actually pulled from english speaking websites when the game was released in NA. After officially launching in NA, you had to get a translated Asian map like the ones now available on the wiki

And this special edition was only $10 more than the regular version

where's the uc2 one with the dagger?

Taggart4514948d ago

The Uncharted 2 Fortune Hunter's Edition was SO limited that you couldn't actually buy it. It was reserved for Naughty Dog contests, online prizes, and website giveaways. It wasn't something that was available at any retail store.

alphakennybody4948d ago (Edited 4948d ago )

ah, never knew that.

RayRay364948d ago

I dont think that should count. Yu could only win tht thing or buy it for like a grand on ebay. It had to have been pretty badass to own that shit.

The Matrix4948d ago (Edited 4948d ago )

I was hugely disappointed by the GOW III collectors edition. Pandoras box is too satanic to put on display anywhere and the only other things in there is...an art book? Very disappointing although the game is legendary and the GOW series will go down as one of the best series of games ever created.

FwanK4948d ago

Too satanic for you kiddo?

RayRay364948d ago

Yur name is The Matrix. Yur complaining that its too satanic? The Matrix, even worse, is Illuminati influenced. Extremly dude. I mean wow. N the art book was cool as hell. Blew the MW2 art book outta the water.

Cenobia4948d ago (Edited 4948d ago )

What? What does satanic looking and illumanti influence have to do with each other?

Also, the Matrix took a lot influence from Catholicism as well (ie: Neo is Jesus).

Bass_fisherman4948d ago

I only have the Far Cry 2 Collector's Edition from that list.
It was worth it but i remember at the time being disapointed by the lack of interactivity and rpg elements to the game but still is a pretty good game nonetheless.

I love my Dead Rising 2 edition, the one with the neat Zombrex. :]

Ah, a disagree. Which makes complete sense, of course I don't really love my Dead Rising edition. -__-

Yeah...

That's depressing. Haters gonna hate!

Why MW 2019 is still the best looking Call of Duty to date

MW 2019 is five years old at this point and on previous gen hardware, but it is still the best looking Call of Duty game to date.

MW was an excellent videogame. They messed up Spec Ops big time, but aside from this it was a huge step in the right direction initially. Most notably, at launch it seemed to come from a very cohesive creative vision that was felt across gameplay, to story to art style/visual direction. It was also very notably written by prominent ex-Naughty Dog guys that quit almost immediately before release.

That COMPLETELY dissolved through post-launch content and the full pivot to a "cross-mode" narrative that completely obliterated the cohesion in overall story direction. Warzone then "became" the new face of Call of Duty and the franchise completely removed itself from anything remotely creatively "good". It is a pure money machine, so I kinda get why they're doing it....but I personally completely lost interest.

I would love to see Infinity Ward move off CoD and get to make their own product with full control. They clearly have some massive talent in their ranks but it's perverted by Activision's corporate interests.
