This week we had our chance to compare the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions of Capcom’s latest release, Dead Rising 2. Developed in partnership with Capcom, Blue Castle Games takes the plunge into zombie killing waters. Good news is, the original Dead Rising team members have returned to help create this version. So come join us as we fight are way through countless hordes of zombies as we put Dead Rising 2 under our “Lens”.

“When there’s no more room in hell, the dead will walk the earth.”

"By no means was the PlayStation 3 version unplayable due to the performance hitches; just expect to be distracted from time to time with some screen tearing."

Another awesome quote!

aceitman4955d ago

lazy developers on ps3 if it wasnt for playstation brand they will not be who they are today . they are either lazy or cant understand high tech

8-bit4955d ago

Yeah, I mean if you think that the 360 version is better and it has nothing to do with the development but instead think that it is because the box is more advanced.. you are just plain dumb.

GraySnake4954d ago (Edited 4954d ago )

Castlevania Says Hi.... an actual good multiplat where both versions look almost the same, clearly shows the benefits of PS3->360 ports not this 360->PS3 crap that devs are still doing.

chanto234955d ago

I used to be a PS3 loyalist but lately I've realize that the PS3 isn't the "best" console to program for. The split RAM IMO is the Achilles heel of the system. I've started to buy all my multiplats on the 360 and they in fact look a lot more polished most of the time. I hate the Xbox Live fee but i'm also a graphics whore so i always look for the best graphics on CONSOLE since i'm not a PC gamer even though i know that has the best graphics. I'm going to settle from now on to all multi-plats on 360 and only buy exclusive PS3 titles till next gen when i hope Sony will do a better job of building their hardware.

The lazy developer excuse is no longer valid. We are 4 years into the PS3 life cycle and we are getting the same "inferior" multiplat games.

Seijoru4955d ago

I get my multiplats on PC and they look better than both consoles.

HDgamer4955d ago

Chanto your posting history shows that you have a clear irrational hate for the ps3 and lie about everything you say.

MmaFanQc4955d ago

my pc for multiplatforms and my 360 as .....paper press

chanto234954d ago (Edited 4954d ago )

Hate?...not, i would call it disappointment. If you read the last 2 pages of my comments of course it would seem like i hate the PS3 cause I'm expressing my late disappointment with the system but read the first pages on my comments section, I'm a PS3 fan, but i can't support 100% a system that isn't performing on par with the competition this late in the cycle. A lot of people on N4G take it as an offense when you say something negative about the PS3 but sometimes you have to accept life as it is.

Sure the PS3 has produced the BEST LOOKING games this gen but how many games are those?, like 6-7 games out of like a 1000 games released this gen. So i stay by my new set of mind:

PS3 for exclusives and Movies only, 360 for everything else (If i had a gaming PC i would've used that but i don't so 360 it is).

PS. MOVE owns Kinect

By the way your comment history suggests that you have an unusual preference for the PS3 (no wonder you got offended by what i said) but i find it ironic that your name is HDgamer when in fact a lot of the PS3 multiplat problems have to do with them being sub-HD :P

@Oxymoron28

I get what you said but i still think it's the damn split memory issue, when developers can get something polished, they RAM like crazy to make things run, on the 360 they can use as much as they want (from 512MB) to make things work and thats when the PS3 suffers cause they are not going to re-program the whole game to work on the PS3, I'm sure they can, but that would delay the game development unless you are ok with the PS3 game version releasing 5 or 6 months later so they can be equal or better.

Oxymoron284954d ago

"The lazy developer excuse is no longer valid".

Actually it is still valid, because developers are lazy, Bad Company 1 and 2 are impeccable as far as multiplat games go, All the call of duty games as well, Red Faction, Borderlands, Just Cause 2, Turok, Force Unleashed, all of these manage being ported with little to no problems, and yet we still get developers using the same old rehashed argument that the console is too difficult to develop for. (I chose those games because they are games I have in my collection of which I have played on both consoles).

Developers are just lazy, plain and simple, the fact it's just a handful of developers still having this problem proves it.

Also the console has plenty of small development teams making games for it (PSN games, PS3/PSP Minis), if small companies can manage it no problem then there is no excuse what so ever for big named companies.

They are just, lazy.

GraySnake4954d ago

look at Castlevania or Burnout:Paradise, any of the games that were PS3 -> 360...they are pretty equal in all area, however when you have 360 -> PS3 is when the problems start happening.

chanto234954d ago

I agree with what you say but like it or not the North American market is the one that is calling the shots this gen and that market is dominated by 360 by a wide margin so devs just focus on 360 first, so this translates into inferior PS3 games and it will continue till next gen. The year head start for 360 proved to be crucial in game development, it gave 360 the market share they needed and it gave developers more time to work with the console and create a preference towards it. Sony MUST launch their next console BEFORE the next XBOX or if they opt for a later release they better make sure they have a simple architecture with considerable more raw power (RAM GPU) for Sony to dominate next gen.

Holeran4954d ago

You don't honestly believe what you wrote, do you? If you do then there's a sucker born every minute. The problem is lazy coders plain and simple.

GraySnake4954d ago (Edited 4954d ago )

its not that big anymore, really its the whole thought of 360 easier to develop, which it is compared to the PS3. However sony and a couple of their devs say all the time that if someone needs help just ask... and alot of devs simply don't. I'd agree with you if there wasn't any early titles that demonstrated this i.e Burnout Paradise... that game long ago proved that point.

muDD4954d ago

sony fans will dissagree, but the sony cultmembers will hate u!

What the hell is wrong with Capcom? They make the best games and release ports like this. Unreal.

King-Leonidas4955d ago

it looks like they rushed out the ps3 version :/ that's really low because Capcom is Japanese after all.

erathaol4955d ago

I've been asking that question about most of their PS3 titles.

:/

crzyjackbauer4954d ago

we all know that the ps3 is more powerfull than the 360
but it seems fanboys dont get that its not as easy to port games to the PS3
the 360 is ported really easy because its architecture is the same as a pc well almost
the ps3 has custom hardware so it takes longer to work with

UBI and campcom already stated that they are not going to spend more time on the ps3 verions, they are just going to make decent ports and ship them, at the end its all business and time is money
sony needs to make the ps4 Developer friendly

Iceballs4955d ago

The series feels a little second rate to me, maybe Capcom feels the same. They should have taken more time on this port if they wanted PS3 fans to buy their game.

MorganX4954d ago

In general, I feel it is inferior to Dead Rising 1. Fun, but even on Xbox, I'll just stick with Case 0.

King-Leonidas4955d ago (Edited 4955d ago )

is it my monitor or is the xbox version dark? and what the hell is up with the ps3 version? Looks like your playing a 3D game without the glasses

What Happened To The Dead Rising Series?

Over the last week, Jake has been going back to the Dead Rising 2 Off The Record remaster and has been an absolute blast. When he was 15 he first got his Xbox 360 and Dead Rising with it, it was unlike any other experience. It made him wonder though, what happened to the Dead Rising series.

Interesting timing. This retrospective was released just a few days ago: https://youtu.be/Et-cKSrWuc...

Darksonic221365d ago

Ah no, I just felt like writing it as I started playing the game again and wanted to offer up my opinions 😁

InklingGirl1365d ago

I was thinking the same thing when I saw the title.

1365d ago
MadLad1365d ago

Complacency and new teams who didn't understand what made the series special.

Darksonic221365d ago

Seems like there was just a ton of infighting aswell and so many more issues. Honestly sadly Dead Rising 5 before it was cancelled sounded nothing like dead rising, nothing learnt from. Dr4 at all.

ColdSin1365d ago

DR4 should have not been made anyways. DR3 closed everything nicely.

darthv721365d ago

Check out the vid i posted above.

MadLad1365d ago

They're a solid channel. I always click on their vids, unless it's a series/game I simply have no interest in.

RamRod881365d ago

They took away the depth and charm of the game that made it fun and interesting, and made it into a generic zombie killing game.

DeadManMMX1365d ago

This was the series the got me to buy an Xbox 360. The first one was so good. It still had horror elements. As it went on it became kind of a parody. Never forget getting Zombie Genecider achievement and then restarting the game to get the Mega Buster. That thing was monstrous against enemies.

Gamerking821365d ago

But you never know it might be RISING again someday .

moriarty18891365d ago

haha yes it may....good one.

The paddle bat and string ball from Fallout should be considered too.

I would've included Tira's ring blade from Soul Calibur.
