IGN: Gears of War 3 Multiplayer Preview

ign: This week, Epic showed off Gears of War 3's online competitive multiplayer for the first time, and there's a lot to share about what's changed, what's back and what the studio's philosophy is regarding online play. Most of the new information will make Gears of War fans weep with joy. But to understand why, you have to know what they've been through.

I really like what they did with the graphics though. The lighting looks great and it looks like there is motion blur applied to the characters, so maybe object based motion blur. And the fact that they are beta testing and using dedicated servers is really the icing on the cake.

Fucking aye! It's about time Epic got it's shit together with Gears of War's multiplayer. Hopefully, equal attention is given to the games co-op campaign. With 4 player co-op, I expect a lengthened campaign that's truly challenging and rewarding.

this has got to be the best gears3 day since it was announced. i guess cliff was pissed at the PR that said the campaign was buggy.

gears of war 3 is alll that shyt and more... as in the game is just epicness to the extreme.... the leveling up the weapons the customization, and the kills the graphics.. the OMG.. this is the perfect game for me.. just exactly what i need and not to forget the BLOOD.. oh yeahh...

Sorry Fellas...that multi-player video shows why Unreal and Gears of war 3 is untouchable. Those graphics are beyond anything out there on any system. If you have a video of something better, please post it. I want to see in game ,in real time graphics on par with this...Good luck.

they must be telling lies, because there are no games that use dedicated servers on the 360, right PS3 fanboys? xbox live doesnt support dedicated servers, right?

living in Australia, the use of dedicated servers actually has me worried about lag now. i do like how they mention that it will switch to peer to peer if a dedicated server cant be found. i just hope they give you an option of searching for peer-to-peer local matches, as that will result in better lag for me than connecting to a dedicated server 1000km away.

pretty much all of the multiplayer changes sound awesome. the only one im not really too fond of is the change to bring execution and warzone into one team deathmatch mode where each team gets 20 lives. only having 1 life is what made gears so different to every other multiplayer game, and it changed the way you played the game for the better IMO.

and boy oh boy do those graphics give a big one fingered salute to all those people thinking that a game on the 360 can never match or surpass Uncharted 2.

As a Gears of War Obsessive, it is with ease that I can say, Gears of War 3 easily wins the title of both Vest Game of all time and GOTY 2011. I simply can not wait for the Beta and the Final Release!
