Less than three months after the release of the original DeathSpank, Hothead Games and Ron Gilbert have brought back their foolhardy titular hero in a sequel titled DeathSpank: Thongs of Virtue. Set more or less directly after the events of the first game, Thongs of Virtue sees the Hero to the Downtrodden getting pulled into a great deal more of unusual and humorous tomfoolery.
Jon Jamrog wrote: "DeathSpank: Thongs of Virtue is a curious case—and not just because it has the word thong in the title. It's interesting because the original DeathSpank was released only two months ago and now we already have a full blown sequel on our hands. This isn't DLC for the original, nor is this an expansion pack, this is a complete second stand alone game. It's pretty rare for a developer to release episodic content so quickly. So while this may not be advertised as such, DeathSpank: Thongs of Virtue is very much our DeathSpank: Episode 2."
That was quick, now wasn't it?
Neat review--but this game isn't on my to do list... least not yet :)
I'm waiting for a price drop, as much as I think the game is great, no way I'm paying $15 for it, $10 and I'm in.
I really liked the first one, maxed it out and got the best everything. I'm sure this one will be the same.
Don't like how this one is $15 also but half the missions. Should of been a $10 expansion and not another game. Still buying though. Eventually.
This game is really only for people who absolutely loved the world created by the first.
Destroy evil, save humanity and free the thongs! Yes--thongs!
GameSpot writes: "Even though DeathSpank hasn't been out that long and summer is about to wind down, Hothead Games recently announced a follow-up game, DeathSpank: Thongs of Virtue, which picks up right where our hero left off in the first game. According to Hamish Millar, the producer of Thongs of Virtue, the game was being developed in parallel with the first DeathSpank and is a much larger game in terms of content. Millar came by our office today to show us some new areas, as well as DeathSpank's arsenal of fancy modern-day weapons".
This game seems seriously hilarious but it's strange that a sequel is out so fast!
I loved the first one for about 4 hours, then put it down and never went back, thus i think my money would be wasted on this. :(
