DeathSpank: Thongs of Virtue Review at Spawn Kill

Less than three months after the release of the original DeathSpank, Hothead Games and Ron Gilbert have brought back their foolhardy titular hero in a sequel titled DeathSpank: Thongs of Virtue. Set more or less directly after the events of the first game, Thongs of Virtue sees the Hero to the Downtrodden getting pulled into a great deal more of unusual and humorous tomfoolery.

This game seems seriously hilarious but it's strange that a sequel is out so fast!

rrquinta4977d ago

yeah, I thought so too. I tried the demo for the first one, but it didn't do much for me.

I loved the first one for about 4 hours, then put it down and never went back, thus i think my money would be wasted on this. :(

Player Affinity: Deathspank: Thongs of Virtue Review

Jon Jamrog wrote: "DeathSpank: Thongs of Virtue is a curious case—and not just because it has the word thong in the title. It's interesting because the original DeathSpank was released only two months ago and now we already have a full blown sequel on our hands. This isn't DLC for the original, nor is this an expansion pack, this is a complete second stand alone game. It's pretty rare for a developer to release episodic content so quickly. So while this may not be advertised as such, DeathSpank: Thongs of Virtue is very much our DeathSpank: Episode 2."

Bubblewood: "hello, the name's Bubblewood, and i need poop"

Deathspank: "Try a high fibre diet and stay away from cheese"

I'm waiting for a price drop, as much as I think the game is great, no way I'm paying $15 for it, $10 and I'm in.

Invadersims4986d ago

I really liked the first one, maxed it out and got the best everything. I'm sure this one will be the same.

Don't like how this one is $15 also but half the missions. Should of been a $10 expansion and not another game. Still buying though. Eventually.

jmmurillo864986d ago (Edited 4986d ago )

It is FALSE that it contains half the missions than the original. It has 50% more content, according to Hothead, more bosses and more variety of missions.

Really? Well that's great to hear. I love the original, it's my current DLC GotY. I'll be picking it up right away. Thanks for the disagree as well jerk

Have a bubble.

DelbertGrady4986d ago (Edited 4986d ago )

The first one took me around 20 hours or so to fully complete, which is longer than most full price titles. Half of that wouldn't be bad imo.

My fav DLC game is between DeathSpank, Limbo and DR Case Zero I think. There's been som many good DLC titles this year that it's hard to pick just one :)

This game is really only for people who absolutely loved the world created by the first.

GameSpot: DeathSpank: Thongs of Virtue Hands-On

GameSpot writes: "Even though DeathSpank hasn't been out that long and summer is about to wind down, Hothead Games recently announced a follow-up game, DeathSpank: Thongs of Virtue, which picks up right where our hero left off in the first game. According to Hamish Millar, the producer of Thongs of Virtue, the game was being developed in parallel with the first DeathSpank and is a much larger game in terms of content. Millar came by our office today to show us some new areas, as well as DeathSpank's arsenal of fancy modern-day weapons".
