It looks alright but they need to fix all these ugly glitches to pull people away from Race Pro or Forza

PoisonedMonkey4961d ago

I must say after all the development time I'm gutted they haven't included a Forza-esque livery designer, but you're right, if it's too buggy at launch there'll be nothing to hide behind.

DOMination4961d ago

I didn't even realise it was missing that feature. Awful.

PoisonedMonkey4961d ago (Edited 4961d ago )

Maybe I should've said they haven't announced it. But you'd have thought they would be bigging it up if it was there...

Most likely to still be the best we'll have seen on the PS3, livery designer or not.

SasanovaS19874961d ago

how did the trolls get to this thread so quickly?

PoisonedMonkey4961d ago

Is it trolling? Apologies if my comments seem that way, it's not what I was intending. I'm actually really looking forward to GT5, I'm convinced it'll be an incredible game. Just a shame they missed a chance to really stick it to Forza.

As for the bugs and glitches seen lately, the videos aren't of the final build so there's no way of knowing how the final product will appear. I really hope it's super polished, a lot of people have waited a long time for this!

Unicron4961d ago

I never read Monkey's post as trolling. He was just being honest.

The General4961d ago (Edited 4961d ago )

or is N4G now overrun with Xbox Fanboys?

It's even crazier to see Xbox fanboys having conversations with themselves with muliple accounts and then using those accounts to support and agree with their own comments. I mean, just look above and you'll see what i mean.

Arvis_Jaggamar4961d ago

Is a livery designer really that big a deal? I mean, I'm all for cuztomization (loved Midnight Club 3) but I'm pretty sure it's Gran Turimo's variety of race modes (they even have stupid Nascar), car selection (double what Forza has), and crazy-OCD-hyper-realitic 'fizzicks' that are going to "stick it" to Forza.

I don't think ONE bullet-point titled "Livery Designer" makes Forza an all around better video game.

Matthew944961d ago (Edited 4961d ago )

"Is it just me
or is N4G now overrun with Xbox Fanboys? "

you have to be joking????

mabye back in 07/08 but the site is overrun with ps3 fanboys

he said he was sad that the game was missing a feature that was in F3 and you called him a fanboy.

all you have to do here is say PS3 PWNZZ THE CRAPBOX360 LOOOL to get 80 agrees

say ANYTHING negative about the ps3 and you end up with about 80 disagrees,

e.g if someone said it was a pity sony removed other os you get bombarded with messages calling you a pirate and sayong it was the right thing to do and how sony is the best ever

PirateThom4961d ago

Yes, yes, let's just bury our heads and ignore "It looks alright but they need to fix all these ugly glitches to pull people away from Race Pro or Forza" and the fact Forza Motorsport 3, to this very day, is still full of glitches.

See how this works?

PoisonedMonkey4961d ago (Edited 4961d ago )

Arvis, the reason I'm mildly disappointed about the livery thing is that it's all Forza players ever bang on about. It's all they've got over what GT5 promises to be, and you know as well as I do the fanboys will be out in force pointing out everything GT5 hasn't got. That's all I was getting at.

It can be the best game ever made, and some Forza nuts will still pop up pointing out you can only race your Ferrari in red, black or yellow. Yeah it's the realistic way of doing it, but the wrong people won't see it like that.

Be honest, you know it's going to happen.

No idea how you took that one comment and turned it into a suggestion that Forza is the better game though, I'm a bit lost there.

Arvis_Jaggamar4960d ago

But I was responding more to the general feel I was getting from the conversation you and DOMination were sharing. That's all.

Either way, I'm sure poeple will just play whatever they believe is best.

Anyone else amused at a Gears of War fan talking about any game having glitches?

Unicron4961d ago (Edited 4961d ago )

Indeed. That is one game where the reviewers totally glossed over all the issues.

But obvious troll is obvious, don't let him bother you. He'll be back to playing the victim in another thread when the big bad PS3 fanboys are doing the same thing he is in this thread.

While I'm not a huge fan of racing sims, GT is a visual beast. I'm glad they finally nailed a sense of speed in this one that is usually only seen in arcade racers.

BigDan804961d ago

That sense of speed is going to be key in my opinion. GT games have always looked good, but felt sooooo sloooooowwwww. If GT5 feels faster then it's going to be golden.

Redempteur4961d ago

ROFL .. that's 100% irony ...

cygnuszero4961d ago

What does gears have to do with gt5 being glitchy? The reassurance posts are healthy today.

Unicron4961d ago

I agree. Dom's post (especially since it was the first) is the epitome of reassurance.

Thanks for pointing that out.

iPad4961d ago

Wow. this is amazing. xbox fanboys in full force today. marked every comment as trolling in the 'Turn 10 owned their fanbase' article and now here.

will it ever end?

boodybandit4961d ago (Edited 4961d ago )

Good catch.
I didn't even pick up on the Gears avatar.
Trolls have no shame.

He has a 35-1 disagree to agree ratio and yet his post still stands.
You know the bubble and report system on this site is severely broken.

Richard Cypher4961d ago (Edited 4961d ago )

Too obvious trolling guy, try again ^^

Maddens Raiders4961d ago

get the memo. GT is the king of all racers. Forza 3 is an attempt to compete against Polyphony Digital's masterpiece, but at the end of the day it's still just another attempt. In order to topple Polyphony, one must outwork Polyphony and that's not going to happen any time soon. Long live the king. Day 1.

PirateThom4961d ago (Edited 4961d ago )

wrong reply

n4gno4961d ago (Edited 4961d ago )

Fanboxtroll spotted.

"it looks alright" lol.

"say ANYTHING negative about the ps3 and you end up with about 80 disagrees"

Say anything wrong, a lie, and you can get some disagree (it's not "ps3 fanboyish, it's just normal), but not in "comparison screenshots", or "xbox can't have infamous 2 graphics", where the full force of xbox fanboyz (or/and multi account) it's dominating (disagreeing with facts, and saying lies all over the place)

BigDan804961d ago

Crazy to look back at what used to be the cutting edge. The GT1 graphics were seen as super realism when it was released, now it looks awful!!!

cygnuszero4961d ago

It always works that way. GT1 was seen as the pinnacle of videogame graphics when it came out.

In 15 years we'll all be laughing about what GT5 looks like. Look at vids of GT5, then go drive your own car around, and you'll quickly realize that games still have a very long way to go.

PoisonedMonkey4961d ago

Very true.

It does make you wonder how long it'll take before the line between real life and CG blurs to the extent it's almost impossible to tell the difference. People say that'll never happen, but 15 years ago I doubt many people would be able to imagine the iPhone existing.

Bounkass4961d ago

So what's the news in this article? Nothing... Again... Typical N4G... No news, just top 10 this, top 10 that, piss off! We want news!

BigDan804961d ago

I guess that's why it was posted as an article, not news?

cygnuszero4961d ago

Because people are noticing bugs genius. Thats not news to you because your obviously just a fanboi that only believes what he wants.

xX-PEIN-Xx4961d ago

Man I can't wait for GT5. I had a dream last night I was playing it, racing down the tokyo circuit at night...ahhh I'm gonna go play GT3 on my PS2. (I don't have prologue and I lost my copy of GT4)

Solo2274961d ago

Still havent seen any vids of online play and features...

That’s cool! Knowing me I woulda still done the tests, but awesome they had cheats

Deathdeliverer403d ago

The article SHOULD say, “BLAST FROM THE PAST! Old school gamers in awe as GT4 cheat codes are discovered after 2 decades. These “cheats” offered free treats for gamers added time savers, additional ways to play, and more. Some magazines had sections or complete issues dedicated to them. Sound strange? Gamers today know them by another name, DLC or Downloadable content…

PhillyDillyDee403d ago

Sounds like a different article. You should write it. Can you do blogs on this site?

vTuro24403d ago

GT4 was my first ps2 game. I loved it, but the disc stopped working before I could complete it and I never got it replaced feelsbadman.

PlayStation 3: chasing the 1080p dream, part three - Gran Turismo 5 and the indie explosion

From Digital Foundry: "Welcome to the third part in the biggest DF Retro episode we've ever produced - a year-by-year look at how 1080p gaming fared on the PlayStation 3. Launched in 2007 touting its then-exclusive HDMI digital interface, Sony layered full HD gaming on top of its Cell processor and RSX 'Reality Synthesizer' as key selling points for its third generation console. Of course, we all know how that turned out - both Sony and Microsoft machines routinely ran the most advanced titles at sub-720p resolutions, often with questionable performance, so what happened to the 1080p dream?

In the first two parts of John Linneman's investigation, we've covered off the first four years of the Triple's lifecycle and moving into 2010, the overall fortunes of the PlayStation 3 continued to improve. The platform holder released - what was then - the most advanced motion controller in the console space, backed up by experiments with stereoscopic 3D, which turned out to be a short-lived but still formidable pairing. Combined with a strong E3 showing, PS3 was looking good.

However, it's fair to say that it was a fallow year for 1080p gaming on the system, with only Scott Pilgrim Saves The World's razor-sharp pixel art upscaling, Castle Crashers and Soldner X2's 3D/FMV stylings accommodating full HD output - alongside a wonderful Monkey Island remaster."

Just remember ladies and gentlemen, Sony never said all games would be 1080p. Only that the system would support games up to 1080p in a survey before the system was released.
https://spong.com/article/9...
And as we saw, some games did support it, some games tried their best to support it and some games didn't or never reached it.

Is a higher resolution great to have if you can do it? Sure. Is it necessary for a fun game? No

But what I find interesting is Eurogamer. Are they really talking about HD and PS3 in their article or are they really pushing their 4.50 Euros 4K video download subscription? Seems one is being used to sell the other. Just look at the bottom of the article.

Michiel1989649d ago

thats what every company tries to do, push for people to buy their products. Are you really gonna blame them for that?

ApocalypseShadow648d ago

Not all articles are about selling. They're about informing or entertaining.

Maybe I'm supposed to watch the video instead of reading. But I shouldn't have to click. But the article lazily tells us some games did hit 1080p and some didn't. I didn't learn anything new as I own the console. Then, they push a Patreon subscription.

Are you saying every opinion, preview, review and rant article requires a push to buy something now? Tell me which sites are prone to do so so that I can avoid them in the future.

Michiel1989648d ago

not everyone played during the ps3 era. I started during snes era but loved seeing articles/videos about how gaming evolved before that.

i dont think this article is trying to push you to get that patreon sub, it doesnt for me at least. I dont think theres anything wrong putting an ad at the bottom of the article. all the regular DF videos are free already.

SonyStyled649d ago

Wipeout HD on PS3, a remake of the PS1 game was 1080p 60fps. And that released in 2007-08

Christopher649d ago

This really feels like a filler article. I don't feel like I learned anything notable or substantial from this. I feel they could have reduced the unnecessary intro and over-explanation of things and put the whole series in one article for a more substantial and possibly informative piece rather than piece-mealing it out as they have.

dumahim649d ago

It's more about the video. DF Retro videos are for Patreon members first, and I think the whole thing was one big video. For the youtube channel, it gets chopped up and released weekly.

ApocalypseShadow648d ago

Chris is actually right on this one. Something known already was just kind of washed over in the article. Unless you're supposed to get more in the video. If more is in the video, then more could have been said in the article.

Only thing I learned new was that they are selling a subscription. My point though is that you gain more viewers by having better articles and content.
