COD Black Ops or Medal of Honor: PS3 and Xbox 360 This Holiday Season

Each Call of Duty release has only increased the amount of people following the franchise, and World At War resulted in something special that was found in “zombies”. The mode pulled the players together just to stay alive, and it’s this desperation to reach another level without dying that really got people hooked.

Medal of Honor for sure

black ops = MW 2.1

thorstein4967d ago

I am looking forward to the return of MOH. But what I really want is a comparison of all the upcoming shooters for PS3: Black Ops, MOH, Homefront, Killzone 3, and Fallout NV.

Redrum0594967d ago

im getting both, but cod isnt day1 for me.
MOH: looks promising and im in for a different experience then the usual cod games.
COD: i like the new currency system and customization, plus i know many of my friends are getting it.

i win either way :)

Chaos694967d ago

Black Ops for sure

Medal of Honor = MW2 0.2

A Cupcake for Gabe4966d ago

MoH and Black Ops both have really good looking campaigns, but I think MoH is the clear winner.

On the MP side, I enjoy COD style over what I've played in the MoH Beta. Minus the hate for Kotick and the hackers COD is a solid shooter. But it doesn't matter to much, cause it's a filler until KZ3.

NecrumSlavery4966d ago (Edited 4966d ago )

this would be a good question for the japanese gamer community

-Alpha4966d ago (Edited 4966d ago )

Black Ops for me. I prefer the CoD formula, I really enjoy the pace of those games. CoD gets WAY too much hate because it's so popular. People judge Black Ops based on their (rightful) hate of Activision and their (rightful) hate of MW2 and that's not fair IMO. Judging from what I see from Treyarch I prefer Black Ops.

MoH's beta was awful, and the gameplay was a terrible mix of Battlefield and CoD. It just doesn't work for me. And IMO they've ripped off way too much from CoD while copying and pasting way too much from BC2. It's an awful mix IMO.

Black Ops seems like the best CoD since CoD4 this gen. Treyarch has done a good job balancing things out so far from what I am hearing from them.

Also, Black Ops simply has more to offer: Story, Competitive, and Co-op including split-screen online, customization, and theater mode = instant win for me.

congrats
i wander how youve acheived this when i hardly ever see you reply.
you dont reply as much as others.

are you secretely working at n4g?...
are you a Mod?...

BattleAxe4966d ago (Edited 4966d ago )

I'm getting both games.

@Redrum,

I'm not quite even sure who actually reads through his long paragraphs when he gives far too long of an opinion on what should normally be a very short answer.

badz1494966d ago

with MoH Frontlines HD included, it's a no brainer! CoD is CRAP!

XANDEO4967d ago

Im intressted in MOH (well reviews will make or break it for me), but does anyone know if it will have that rather stupid online pass like FIFA 2010?

Apocwhen4967d ago

It most likely will. BFBC2 had a VIP code that was required to unlock 'DLC' that was already on the disc.
Seeing as the MP in this is also by DICE/EA then there's a strong chance it will be part of MOH too.

-Alpha4966d ago (Edited 4966d ago )

Another reason why I prefer Black Ops. From what they did with Bad Company they withheld content and acted as if they gave "Free" maps.

One of the reasons I got so bored with BC2 was the lack of maps and the fact that they just gave out their old ones after withholding them from us.

Both are crooked actually. $15 for 5 maps is a crime too. But I wouldn't mind since I can gameshare or pay together with friends for at least 3 new maps. Since I enjoy the game so much I know that I can get my money's worth, unless the game turns out to be absolutely unplayable.

badz1494966d ago

don't depend too much on reviews. you'll see people give CoD free passes and soon after, glitches here and there like what happen with MW2! reviewers are more than always blinded by hype (can't blame them though as they are also human) but I can't see CoD BO will be any different from MW! it's using the same engine and I think you can expect a 5-6H campaign as well!

Shackdaddy8364967d ago

MoH but Im getting both I guess....
<<---Consumer whore

SeanRL4967d ago

How bout LBP 2, GT5, Fallout: NV and various other games that actually don't suck?

FishCake9T44967d ago

How do you know COD will suck? Have you played it? No? Thought so.

CYBERSNAKE4967d ago

I think we've all played enough COD to realise that every year we're gona get the same recycled garbage.

Chaos694966d ago

"garbage" that millions of people seem to love.

Why do you think people are pre-ordering Black Ops like crazy? It's because they loved WAW/MW2 and they want more.

CYBERSNAKE4966d ago (Edited 4966d ago )

All I'm saying is COD doesnt deserve the amount of sales and hype it gets each year when other quality games get ignored especially when very little changes each game.
Does Lady Gaga or Justin Bieber deserve that much album sales for the crap that they pull out?
I'm glad MW2 lost out to Uncharted for GOTY. It would have been a travesty if it had actually won.

Pumbli4966d ago (Edited 4966d ago )

CYBERSNAKE - Your opinion is not the same as fact. Many people love CoD and everything about it. Adding just a little extra stuff is more then enough for many fans of the series.

And even though I personally dislike Lady Gaga and Justin Bieber, millions of people seem to love what they do. So in their eyes they're not pulling out crap.

CYBERSNAKE4966d ago

You are right, theres no point in trying to spoil anyones fun.
I guess its just the fact that when I see how much COD has sold and the amount of 10/10 reviews it gets, it just makes me think 'Why?'

Chaos694966d ago

Because those people enjoy it (shocking I know).

FACTUAL evidence4967d ago

none of them. MoH is generic COD wanna be, and COD is just a generic run and gun that's highly overrated. They should of stopped after COD4 when it was good.

Doletskaya4967d ago (Edited 4967d ago )

Have you watched some of the SP and MP footages of MoH? The game plays exactly like COD.

Gotta love the hypocrisy here from all these COD haters.
"Since I hate Cod, I guess I'll pick up a COD clone instead."
And I guess most of them will go out and buy Black ops eventually.

ddurand14967d ago

you didnt play the MOH beta then i guess?

Doletskaya4966d ago

And after playing the beta, I am even more certain that it's a COD clone, a pretty bad one.

ddurand14966d ago

the game played more like bc2 than COD. It was just a smaller map an faster pace than BC2.

Doletskaya4966d ago (Edited 4966d ago )

Does Bad company 2 have Killstreaks? Does BC2 have weapons with no recoil at all? Does MoH have destructible environments, vehicles and classes? And you already said that MoH has small maps and is more fast-paced.

So you tell me. Does MoH play more like BC2? Or COD?

ddurand14966d ago

its plays more like BC2 with a COD pacing, like I said.

Doletskaya4966d ago

How does MoH mp resemble BC2 mp in any way?

Shackdaddy8364966d ago (Edited 4966d ago )

Oh I'm sorry, since you have already played the final version then you must know how it plays. Oh what? You haven't? Oh, wow, thats surprising since you seem so confident in your obviously false statement.

1. MoH will have recoil. Its just that it wont show recoil in the gun movement.
2. MoH will have destruction but not that much(pillars, cover will chip away - you can see that in the Moh experience 5 video)
3. Moh has one vehicle in it.
4. Moh has classes(rifleman, assault, spec ops)

Honestly, the only similarity between MoH and CoD is that it uses streak rewards(which act in a different way then CoD) and its fast paced. Definitely not nearly enough to call it a "clone".

Next time do some research before you troll.

Elwenil4966d ago

Please at least go to YouTube and check out what real recoil looks like before just assuming that every modern weapon has to jump around like in the movies. A M4 is a very stable weapon and does not jump around very much at all in the hands of an experienced operator.

Scary694967d ago

Im getting both, cannot wait.

TROLL EATER4966d ago

still be one halo reach. might get black ops for ps3 though.

princejb1344966d ago

lets all be realistic here we all know the new cod is gonna sell like crazy
and moh is not
medal of honor was never a popular franchise no matter how great this new one will be
call of duty in the other hand has been very popular franchise every since modern warfare

Longrod_Von_Hugendon4966d ago (Edited 4966d ago )

I don't see why I have to choose between the two, Pick up both if u can afford it if not then one now other later.

frostypants4966d ago (Edited 4966d ago )

Medal of Honor looks pretty bad, frankly. Nevermind my issues with how they're exploiting a current conflict to market and present it. The gameplay just looks antiquated.

Medal of Honor has ALWAYS played second fiddle to Call of Duty, since the beginning.

Prcko4967d ago

medal of honor defenetly!

metsgaming4967d ago

I would go for moh but i dont see any real reason to get it. seems like bc2 but no destruction.

Xbro4967d ago

Black ops on release, then MOH for xmas.

I'll be level 50 by then, and i don't need any other games on top of GT5, black ops and Fallout NV.

Mustang300C20124967d ago

Getting both. Some of us can enjoy what each game offers.

GLoRyKnoT4966d ago

Getting both (day 1) & will 4ever appreciate what's offered 2me:)

Please, can Call of Duty leave awful Netflix-style menus behind

Call of Duty games used to be streamlined experiences, but COD 2024’s UI could be another nightmarish clutter of streaming tabs.

Let's just leave Call Of Duty behind.

anast10d ago

The isn't for you anymore.

BlackCountryBob9d ago

If we’re beating that drum, can we also stop forcing anyone who wants to play only the single player to download Warzone and all updates BEFORE they are then able to do another download from the menu of the single player campaign. I don’t see why I need 150gb of downloads in several ways to play the single player mode only from a bloomin disk which should have that campaign on it already.

DefenderOfDoom29d ago (Edited 9d ago )

The UI is confusing to me because I have not purchased a Call of Duty iin like 8 years .Only bought CoD MW3 because 3 of my friends I have known since to 70s are playing zombies . But I am used it now .

smolinsk9d ago

The UI is the least of the franchise many problems these days. But yes the UI is also terrible.

Remembering Medal Of Honor: The Forgotten Master Of WW2 Games

Ibrahim from eXputer: "The Medal of Honor franchise was once the crown jewel of FPS war games, later defeated by the tides of time and poor development."

banger8818d ago

They tried to turn it into Call of Duty and it killed it off. They should reboot it and go back to it's roots. But they'd ruin it with online-only/multiplayer style bullshit so why bother? I have very fond memories of these games, but this series can stay dead as far as I'm concerned.

FPS_D3TH16d ago

Was literally just thinking of this game the other week with the secret nut cracker mission and the shooting Bismarck dog lmao. Loved these games as a kid

PrecursorOrb16d ago (Edited 16d ago )

I wish they’d remake warfighter

Strictly for the campaign

The_Hooligan16d ago

I have fond memories of playing the Medal of Honor Breakthrough MP Demo. It had two maps and custom servers. Living on campus, I had it downloaded on one of the PC Lab servers so I could access it on any computer at the university. Joined a clan and made friends that I still keep in touch with today.

Players claim Fortnite ruined Call of Duty by letting in more corporate greed

Do you remember what gaming was like before Fortnite entered the gaming space? One of the biggest arguments was about loot boxes. Now we have conversations about crossovers, battle passes, and community outreach.

gamesandwich.com
GoodGuy0922d ago (Edited 22d ago )

Idk. Loot boxes did disappear and battle passes and in game purchases are all cosmetic. We get free weapons and maps post launch, any gameplay affecting content. I could care less about all the cosmetics.
I absolutely hated the days where weapons were locked behind a less than 1% chance lootbox pull where it'd take 5+ hours to have enough tokens to do a single pull and lazy remastered/remake maps cost you $15 each wave or $50 for the season pass that you didn't know what you'd get and these maps were only available to those that bought it so you get a smaller pool of players match with.

Tacoboto20d ago

The "good ole days" are actually what drove me away from COD and Halo 3/Reach. Halo 4 becoming a COD-like drove me away from that only a week or so after it launched and I beat its campaign.

It sucked way back then, going a month or two without playing online-shooter-of-the-moment, and then needing to buy a $15 map pack to play with the majority of the population or your favorite playlist. The "community" rejecting Spartan Points in MCC killed that game's support, too. No revenue = no support, plain and simple.

Cacabunga20d ago

That headline could easily be something Spencer could have said 😅 I had to check if it was really an opinion piece

KyRo20d ago

As times gone on, the COD battle pass has got ALOT worse so they can push people to buy the more premium battle pass which itself is a huge rip off and nearly half the price of the base game.

The cosmetics can be fine but they've taken it to far to the point of no return. Why make a military themed game then have rabbits, dinosaurs, cats, rats & z list rappers as skins? You wouldn't add a Lamborghini to a fantasy RPG to replace a horse and you would never see Mario have limb dismemberment because they know what they are. COD is having identity crisis but kids and streamer but then all

franwex20d ago (Edited 20d ago )

Call of duty can simply not copy the bad aspects of Fortnite? Or is that too out of this world? Like COD, a realistic shooter-just HAD to have Nicki Minaj running around? Or super heroes?

Inverno20d ago (Edited 20d ago )

Exactly! Trends don't all need to be followed. Plus where Fortnite got somewhat better with it's monetization, Acti got worse. Or at least Fortnite has lended itself more to the wacky stuff, and has put more effort and quality into that stuff.

jjb198120d ago

I prefer the battle passes with free maps than the $50 season pass that divided the community. I definitely feel that Fortnite had some influence on CoD having loot boxes with Blackout being introduced in 2018 with Black Ops 4.

PRIMORDUS20d ago (Edited 20d ago )

Actually Fortnite bullshit ruined Unreal Tournament. Epic are sellouts and I will never have that shitty store on my PC, fuck them and that shit bag Tim Sweeney. At least the community keeps the games alive, I still play UT2004.

StoneTitan20d ago

I mean cant really blame them for supporting the game that made them the most money and the most people player...ever?

Psychonaut8520d ago

Call of Duty ruined Call of Duty. They needed no outside assistance.

Ra303019d ago

100% correct! The makers of Call of Duty ran out of ideas long, long ago so they take ideas from other games like Ghost Recon, Fortnite and any other FPS game hat had success hell CoD remasters maps that they've remastered several times already then charge you again for it. Call of Duty is simply a cut, copy and paste and then put the $70 price on it every year. Activision and now Microsoft has been essentially remastering Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare every year since it was released in 2007 its to the point it's worse than the sports game like the Madden, NBA and others yearly sports franchises.
@Psychonaut85 is spot on "Call of Duty ruined Call of Duty. They needed no outside assistance"!
