Castlevania GBA/DS titles could potentially see Digitial Re-releases on PSN/XBLA

"Castlevania Symphony of the Night did many things for the Castlevania franchise. It spawned a period of exploration-heavy, non-linear titles in the franchise. Most of them being hand-held releases, hitting Nintendo’s GBA and eventually the DS. Each one of these portable entries are rewarding experience in their own rights and should be experienced by gamers. Problem is, they’re kind of hard to get your hands on nowadays. So what better way to reach the masses than by offering digital re-releases of these games, just how Symphony of the Night received one on the XBLA, consequentially raising the memory limit of XBLA’s releases that followed it. Fans have been clamoring for such a possibility, to be able to play these great games, with enhanced visuals on a home console. Judging by this excerpt from Nowgamer’s article on the making of Symphony of the Night, it seems possible"

SotN will go to PSN

Nothing for XBLA.

MrMccormo4964d ago

The GBA and DS Castlevanias are some of the best Castlevania games on the market.

darkcharizard4964d ago

Aria and Dawn of Sorrow, Harmony of Dissonance, Circle of the Moon and Portrait of Ruin are absolutely top quality games, at par with SotN, imo.

crzyjackbauer4964d ago

He's stupid
XBLA got Castlevania HD-exclusive so far
and SOTN

JawsofRegret4964d ago (Edited 4964d ago )

SotN is already on 360, silly boy.

Ares84PS34964d ago

And there is another Castlevania game on PSn but I forgott it's title....

poopface14964d ago (Edited 4964d ago )

SotN is already on the live arcade as well, and they just released that co-op 2d caastlevania on the live arcade too.

They should have these games for DL on the 3ds at the very least. They would make great DL titles on any platform I think(especially if they are in HD, I love 2d games).

I think bringing more Castlevania games to XBLA & PSN is always a great thing. So I hope this turns out to be true.

kagon014964d ago

Too bad, I already have the authentic copies of these games...

Stealth20k4964d ago

i have the authentic copies too......thats the only way to play it

Stealth20k4964d ago

This article is bullshit, the games wont ever go to the psn/xbla

gamerdude1324964d ago

Here's an idea, PUT OUT THE ORIGINAL Castlevania GAMES!! God, why is it that everyone thinks SotN was gold and everything else was pure bullshit? I REALLY want to know. Sorry, but this pisses me off. I'd like to see a kid these days play Halo or CoD then play Castlevania III. He'd get his ass handed to him.

The 7 Best Vampire Games: Embrace the Night

Vampire games are making a comeback of late, and gamers hoping this is a new trend should look back at the 7 best vampire games ever made.

SimpleSlave34d ago (Edited 34d ago )

What is a list? A miserable little pile of scribbles.

A Best Vampire Game list and no Bloodborne. A bold choice, indeed.

The_Hooligan33d ago

IMO, I wouldn't consider bloodborne a vampire game. Long story short, It's more about the side effects of the blood experiment and the influence of the red moon, than actually being a vampire.

SimpleSlave33d ago (Edited 33d ago )

Yes, Bloodborne is about Vampires. It's not just the undertones, or the imagery or the obvious parallels, it's pretty much everything and then some. Here's the thing, Bram Stoker's Dracula is also not a Vampire novel. Why? Because technically Vampires from folklore were something else.

But based on our updated view of what Vampires are, informed in one way or another by Bram Stoker's Dracula, Nosferatu The Vamprye, and many other stories, and combined with From Software's own interpretation, we can say with confidence that Bloodborne IS a Vampire story. Sure, there are other elements, but the central narrative is pretty much Vampires. Which would make it THE Vampire game. I mean, Cainhurst Castle. Anyways, that's how I see it.

But to each their and we'll agree to disagree.

MEGANE33d ago

Thats the best Vampire game ever, but enough talk, have at you!.

SimpleSlave33d ago (Edited 33d ago )

Absolutely... Now, die monster! You don't belong in this thread!

I've lost all hype for Bloodlines 2. It's going to be an action game.

Barlos33d ago

No Blood Omen? Even today it's one of my favourite vampire games. We could really do with a release on modern platforms.

Relientk7733d ago

I really enjoyed Vampyr. The combat is a little clunky and could use some work. However, the story, characters, dialog. setting, and pretty much everything else in the game is great.
