World's first Medal of Honor review - GamesMaster gives 85% score

The latest issue of GamesMaster boasts a world-exclusive five page Medal of Honor review.

GM's looked favourably upon the collaboration between single-player developer Danger Close and multi-player studio DICE - giving the overall Medal of Honor package 85 per cent.

I'm a long time subscriber so I enjoy GM. But once in a while they do have some bum reviews, Their recent review of Kane & Lynch: Dog Days comes to mind. They gave it 85%, and said the mp was great.

Awesome news. How fucking hilarious that all the backlash focused on the MP and it turns out that it's the better of the two. COD:BO for kids and Moh for men. Fuck yeah.

The mag describes Medal of Honor as "A credible shooter that's more realistic than CoD, with multiplayer that sees DICE on top form."

However, there are suggestions that the online features somewhat over-shadow the single-player campaign.

Sounds really good, but they mentioned the SP is weak and feels added on which is annoying. I don't want the SP to be like BC2.

All of these war shooter have sp that is weak and feels added on. I actually thought the sp of BC2 was pretty good, better than MW2. These games are know for the mp not sp.

I thought the SP would be the best out of the 3 "realistic shooters", but it is "above average", as was MW2's, BF:BC2 being absolute average

its a shame really. Too bad, still good to see MoH can stand on its own two legs, it was always a good franchise

well, I'm still waiting for my VERY GOOD SP modern military game, so far it only is Operation Flashpoint and COD4

I still think Cod 4 MW was and is the best straight war shooter. I have tons of friends who still play that game online also. I kept that one but traded both WAW and MW2. I will not buy another COD game.

In the end they dropped it because some retailers refused to stock the game, which would have had a negative impact on sales. It was a business decision.

Yep. I don't see why it was so bad! Nobody who had a family during WWII got offended by the previous MoH or CoD games. Nobody's complaining about Black Ops, where your enemies are... Vietnamese, I believe? People love to hate on shit unless it's a CoD, Halo, or Killzone game. While those series are fantastic, MoH paved the way for the WWII shooter genre and eventually made it into the overflowing garbage bag it is today. Evidently, modern combat is the new WWII. EA's being stupid and so are the retailers who wouldn't sell it. Ooh-rah for GameStop for the ability to keep in the being sold before the name change thing.

Danger Close takes extreme routes for this game and I am very exciting to play it. There hasn't been any game based on the Afghan War and it will raise on eyebrow when it is release. :D

Also, MOH: Frontline will keep the nostalgia running.

To all the people who are not going to buy this anymore because they changed the Taliban to "opposing force". Some people get really sensitive and cant handle small changes that mean absolutely nothing. All your going to miss out on the game is when you boot into a MP game instead of it saying "Taliban" at the top of the screen, it will say "Opposing Force". Nothing to have a pink pantie melt down over.

Forget the whole re-naming the Taliban sh*t...it's just distracting from the real issue.

I think it's a bit sick to get enjoyment out of simulating being killed in present day Afghanistan while people our ages are being shot at over there as we speak (and many of us have friends there right now, no doubt). It would have been more tactful to at least make it a fictional conflict.

Just me though. I couldn't buy this without it bothering me. I know it's a gray area, but this is too far IMHO.

might think it is sick to get that same enjoyment out of simulating killing in ANY era. I'm not judging you. I am just saying that viewing this in perspective of an entertainment medium AND in the vane that the devs were attempting to deliver. There might be another side. We probably ALL have people who are fighting this war. Do we REALLY know what is going on? We ASSUME that we do, but the news is so censored that we don't really get the gritty truth. Maybe, it was the developers intent to provide a perspective on this war that WE are not privy to by using the input from those special forces guys that could tell them REAL situations and stories. Once again...everyone has the right to play or not to play for whatever reason. But, the way I see it...it's an interactive story with a TRUE, gritty storyline taken from our current history. I won't enjoy killing Taliban or Allied forces...but I WILL enjoy killing whatever tag happens to be above the head of the guy that is in front of me.
