Rumor: Deadly Premonition For PlayStation 3 Coming New Year's Eve?

Posted by James Hawkins: I have nothing but Metacritic to substantiate my claims. There is nothing official or even hinted at by any other video game sites as of now, so either I'm an idiot, or a masterful sleuth.

Now that would be pretty interesting!

Blacktric4964d ago (Edited 4964d ago )

With Move and 3D support. LMAO! I don't think the game's as bad as some people say. I watched a couple of videos and it looks decent. Maybe cheesy but definitely not bad.

Another corney 360 exclusive going to the ps3? Be our guest!

Kornholic4964d ago

It's already on PS3 in Japan.

sinncross4964d ago (Edited 4964d ago )

Clicking on the game in metacritic shows the release date as TBA 2010, cause in reality that is what a 31 December 2010 release from any site means: its a place holder release date because they actually don't know, nor know whether the game is still be released.

Perhaps places like Metacritic know that the game will see a PS3 release in the US in time for holidays season this year, but its definitely not a 31 December release.

Besides, the game is in English in the Japan version so people can just import if they really want it.

i might get it if its cheap

Krimmson4964d ago

Seeing that it released on the 360 for $20, I doubt the PS3 version would be any different.

jony_dols4964d ago

throw it away and bury it.......deep

Gue14964d ago

Isn't this like one of the worst game this gen? And it's getting ported to the PS3 now? This must be a joke...

Nitrowolf24964d ago

Its already on PS3 and has english options in japan its called Red Seeds Profile

"Isn't this like one of the worst game this gen?"

Well since we're on the subject of Metacritic:

http://www.metacritic.com/g...

If you ignore IGN's (most of the things they say about the game are wrong, obviously barely touched it), and Destructoid's (lolJimSterling) reviews, it actually got a lot of good scores.

Deadly Premonition might be my Game of 2010. It's been a long time(Majora's Mask) since I've played a game where the developers put genuine love into their product.

Wolfie4964d ago (Edited 4964d ago )

For some reason i want to play this game so bad. I love campy movies so i think i will like this game.

Deadly Premonition | Games To Play Before You Die

Deadly Premonition is a weird, weird cocktail that doesn't go down smooth for everyone, but it's still absolutely worth sampling.

It’s sooooo janky but the story is so good and the agent is so quirky I loved it thouroughly, the story is that good that you can actually make it through all of its jankiness and issues .
It’s a diamond in the rough and rough is saying lighly.
This game deserves a remake out of any game I can think of .
If they fixed the combat ,driving and movement this would be one of my favorite games all time and it already is in a way.

The first time I turned on my flashlight was one of the funniest things I have ever seen in a game. His suit just sort of lights up. There's no physical flashlight in his hand--hilarious. It's also the only game I've played to truly capture the delightfull quirkiness of Twin Peaks. I'm with you on how much I like this game. Despite all of its flaws, it's a genuinely fun experience. "My coffee warned me about it," is probably my favorite line of all time in any video game.

I still haven't played the sequel, but I will some day.

I enjoyed this back during ps3 days. I'd buy it again if they re released it fixed up a little. I had fun with it.

ok I believe that Deadly Premonition 2 scene described in the article, takes the cake! Although one could argue that there are so many memorable ridiculous moments in this game.

Wish the F.E.A.R. franchise would get resurrected.

COG Considers: Why Are There So Many Games About Killers With Split Personalities?

This week on COG Considers, we tackle one of the most tired and unpleasant tropes in horror games: why games--and every other pop culture avenue--are so determined to paint people with Dissociative Identity Disorder as murderers.

Surprised killer7 isn't mentioned. This was the central premise of that game

KDblack1293d ago

Killer7 was mentioned, but only for one sentence because it's the central premise of the game. There wasn't really a need to go into detail.

gamerben1292d ago

Oh woops didn't catch it. Sorry mang

mastershredder1293d ago

Are they? You are fixed on Japanese games that are anime based/fashioned. Perhaps if you were not playing games that are similar to the animes that inspired them you would have more/different experiences.

When Cliche and Troupes are the building blocks, you can’t expect much. Just like you cannot expect good case study when the tester/observer has practically no variance in test subjects.

Sooooo many horror games out there... you really gotta explore some more.

KDblack1293d ago

I am aware! But games like Outlast or Remothered aren't really doing anything different, either--the most you could say is that Outlast hammers in that not all mental patients are dangerous. Just some of them. It really isn't just anime-inspired games that are doing this, even if you're counting Deadly Premonition among them. Bendy and the Ink Machine did it with Alice Angel, Krieg from the Borderlands games is this but played for laughs, and Dog/God from Fallout: New Vegas' Dead Money DLC is another example of both murder and weird, unrealistically rapid closure. This article was inspired after seeing one too many indie games on Steam with the premise 'discover the inner world of this tormented killer with DID.' Trust me when I say I'm exploring all kinds of horror games, and even outside those boundaries, because this is a really wide-reaching pattern.

That said, if you have any recs for more interesting/less stereotypical usage of characters with DID, hit me up.
