Just Add Water Comments on 360 Stranger’s Wrath

TheSixthAxis writes:

"It does seem a little strange, Oddworld: Stranger’s Wrath, an Xbox exclusive title, set for the refurbishment treatment but only due for a PS3 release.

There is logic behind the madness, however, with developer Just Add Water responding on their site to the many complaints from 360 fans displeased that they won’t be able to enjoy the updated title on their console of choice."

Why do MS have these stupid rules? It's making AAA developers shy away from XBLA to the competition... seriously, WHY do they have them?

OneSneakyMofo4966d ago (Edited 4966d ago )

1. Because they want money.
2. Because their system can only handle so much.
3. Because they think if they can control your game, they can control your company.
4. Because they only care about themselves and not their fanbase.

"or ask Microsoft to increase their 2GB limit, however this limit is apparently hardware led, so please let us try and make a miracle happen.”

A Hardware limitation? -_-

Your avatar should have a tinfoil hat on instead of a santa cap.

They are so high on there hill MS they don't realise what is going on beneath them.

Active Reload4966d ago

I'm sure MS will lift the limit after Shadow Complex 2 comes out, lol.

So this is what $60 buys you on XBL.

DigitalAnalog4966d ago (Edited 4966d ago )

“The final decision is NOT ours. One thing we can discuss in regard to the 360 version is the size of the game. On XBLA there is a 2 GigaByte size limit we have to adhere to, currently the title weighs in at 2.1GB and that is without any updates, so either we have to pull a miracle out of the bag with some type of amazing compression system, or ask Microsoft to increase their 2GB limit, however this limit is apparently hardware led, so please let us try and make a miracle happen.”

Now you guys think VERY carefully how this can be applied to a full-retail game. This is what happens when you IMPOSE restrictions and now the XBox Odyssey fans are suffering for it. Now you know how FF fans like myself are pissed that what could be a 20+ GB game has been reduced to 14+GB EVEN with the span of 3 DVD disks.

Just buy a PS3 if you don't have one (and if you can of course). With all the possible 3rd party HD classics on the way and with the 3rd party companies' support like EA, Ubisoft and Just Add Water, future is looking bright for PS3. I hope Microsoft learns some lesson about arrogance though. For the whole year I saw a handful of companies complaining about the Live and its unnecessary limitations but so far MS done nothing.

Why would you create an account on "News4Gamers" if you don't like playing GOOD video games?

maxcer4966d ago

couldn't have said it better myself. gamers won't be loyal forever, and when it's apparent that MS is straying away from what we want we'll move on and they will have nothing left but a dissatisfied userbase in one hand and a million casuals who only buy sports resort games in the other.

Droid Control4966d ago

Remove your size limit NOW, or face the full wrath of the 360 fanboyzz!!!!! lol

xAlmostPro4966d ago

the full wrath of 360 fanboys? aka if they dont up the limit "zomg this game sucks anyway, we never wanted it on xbl..kinect ftw" :L

ZombieAutopsy4966d ago

I could of swore MS did away with that limit a long time ago, oh well I guess this is another one of those times where it pays to be a multi-console owner.

UP4966d ago

Size limits are retarded. If a company wants to release a large game on your network let them. Charge them a little extra if you want but dont force them to go to the other sides network because of your rules.

Stranger's Wrath is still brilliant 15 years on - and the new Switch port is impressive

As one of the last major releases for the original Xbox, Oddworld: Stranger's Wrath is also one of the most memorable games on the system, taking the series to new places with a cross between third-person platforming and first-person shooting. With its unique weapons system, open-ended mission design and fascinating story, it's a game that always felt special and still holds up today - and it's recently received an impressive Switch conversion.
