Fragnstein is Ready for Action After PS3 Firmware 3.50

PlayStation LifeStyle writes: "Unbeknownst to most PlayStation 3 owners, firmware update 3.50 eradicated the ability for gamers to use unlicensed peripherals. This meant a variety of off-brand, aftermarket controllers and peripherals were rendered useless once PS3 owners updated their PS3’s to the latest build. However, thanks to great manufacture support, one of the more critically-acclaimed gaming pads is ready for action for your favorite online titles."

Called the “FragnsteinComboUpgradeV350″, the Bannco first-person shooter enhancement product is fully functional in the smooth aiming mode.

Anyone have one of these?

dangert124982d ago

Its weird man how can people sue sony for chosing not to let over people make things for there hardware it is sonys :S but hey funny world yeah?

morganfell4981d ago

No different than the FragFX from Splitfish. Despite on the fly sensitivity, you get slammed in close quarters where rapid turning is a must.

Projekt7tuning4981d ago

My Puppy ate the analog hats off my real PS3 control. So I have been using a Mad Catz controller for almost a year or so. Yesterday the wife and I went to watch a blu-ray, did the update, then surprise. I understand what the deal is, but try explaining that to a pissed off wife. LOL. Well, I guess today I get to go by the local game store and buy a new Sony controller. I really liked the feel of the Mad Catz though. It's a shame. It's usb so maybe I can re-use it on my computer like my 360 controller. One for the Main computer, and one for the laptop. Hey silver lining right?

seij5554981d ago

You are either lying or you need to update your controller through the mad catz website.

Christopher4981d ago

Mad Catz is a licensed peripheral company, though. Look online to see if it needs an update.

Projekt7tuning4981d ago (Edited 4981d ago )

To all who said I'm lying, Kiss my ass! What do you want a play by play video. BTW it's item Number Item # 8846 on Mad Catz website. Its the clear red wireless one. Who are you to call me a liar? How about you send me proof all Mad Catz controllers still work. How about you go google the controller and find all the post about them not working. That's why you have one bubble. Ass

Mr_Bun4981d ago (Edited 4981d ago )

I know a few people that have this (myself included) and it works like a dream for MAG. There's a bit of setup to find the sensitivity sweet spot that you want, but nothing major.

DJMarty4982d ago

Thats the point of licensed hardware, once they pay the fee than can produce hardware under license. Don't pay and your not licensed to produce hardware. Hence all the crappy quality couterfeit PS3 pads.

BTW people can't sue as ther is no case against Sony.

bjornbear4981d ago

I mean come on, if its not licensed, its probably sh!t =P

Gothdom4981d ago

the only exception is tengen Tetris. The co-op mode was awesome.

saint_seya4981d ago

still i feel sry 4 those who got one of those controllers that arent working anymore... shame... but kind i see why sony did this..
in the end.. is only hackers foult..

Xbox 360’s First Mouse Controller Revealed

Despite Microsoft’s insistence that the Xbox 360 did not require a mouse controller, and that none should be made available, this week’s Tokyo Game Show (TGS) heralded some unexpected news. Not only has a mouse controller been developed for the console, but it’s also shipping to retail globally as you read this.

Personally, I can't wait to use this for RTS games. Maybe it might work with some arcade games that have been ported from the PC.

omg, is this real? it's gonna put a HUGE disparity in fps games between mouse users and controller users (mouse users always win)

wicko4987d ago

While you're correct about mouse/kb vs controller, problem is that console games aren't designed to use a keyboard and mouse, so you can't just switch to them on a console and expect it to perform like on a PC. The code to interpret analog sticks is very different from mouse input, so you'll end up with very awkward feeling mouse movements. That's why splitfish and other designs never worked out well.

Lord_Doggington4986d ago

meh, with things like the xfps, you can easily use a computer to interpret mouse movement w/out any deadzone.

fuckitimout4987d ago

with no rpgs, no fighting games, no rts, no adventure. Only mediocre shooters like reach and cod. This mouse will have no use without good games. 360 is for kids. Ps3 for grownups. Wii for everyone

TheGameFoxJTV4987d ago

Pc, for people with jobs. XD

fuckitimout4987d ago

pc, for people with too much time on their hands and porn addiction

ukilnme4987d ago

"Ps3 for grownups."

PS3 for grownups that act like kids. Fixed.

You are welcome.

Who said anything about N4g = the world?

Any way recent information released and actually in my avatar shows that PS3 has the lowest user base in the 18+ area. Both 360 and Wii dominate PS3 when it comes to the amount of adults that own one and play it as well.

baodeus4987d ago (Edited 4987d ago )

@spydablacc

XBOX 360
Sandbox/action : Crackdown

HackSlash: Dead Rising, ninja blade (ok but not great)

RPG : ME/Fable/Lost odyssey/Blue Dragon/Magna Carta 2/kingdom under fire/infinite undiscovery/last remnent/?

Sim Racing: Forza III/PGR/test drive unlimited

Action/Adv --- Alan Wake/

MMORPG Phantasy Star

TPS : Gears of War

FPS Halo/perfect dark/L4D

Espionage: Splinter Cell

Create Halo Forge/Create/xna/viva pinata

RTS --- halo wars (i could even remember if PS3 has any RTS beside Ruse which is a multiplatform)

Platformers Banzokazooii, Kameo

Arcade: well there are just too much arcade games on x360 to list.

There now i hope you can provide something similar on the ps3. See do some research first before posting man. STFU

HDgamer4987d ago

Why are you choosing pc multiplats on the 360 as well. Please don't make someone put together a list that smashes your lists. Please for your mind sake and your loss of sleep.

BISHOP-BRASIL4986d ago (Edited 4986d ago )

You asked for it... I'm only listing already released full games (mostly reatail, but I'm putting up some PSN games that are long and content filled enough to mean FULL... sue me).

Sandbox (the genre is action, but I believe you either mean huge maps or free roam):
InFAMOUS
Yakuza Kenzan!, 3 and 4 (actually a beat'em'up with free roam, lot's of side missions, like GTA [edit] without [/edit] crap raps nor cars)

Hack'n'Slash (Is Dead Rising Hack'n'Slash? Seriously? What have you been smoking?):
GoW III
Heavenly Sword
Untold Legends: Dark Kingdom
Genji: Days of the Blade (look out for giant enemy crab's weak point, hit it for massive damage).

RPG (card games aren't RPGs, also I just played ME on my PC, was I dreaming?):
White Knight Chronicles
Ar Tonelico
Atelier Rorona
Demon's Souls
Folklore
Last Rebellion
Disgaea 3
Tears to Tiara

Racing (PGR and Test Drive aren't Sims, they are arcade racings):
Gran Turismo 5 Prologue
Motorstorm 1 and 2
Riiiidge Racer 7 (LOL)
Wipeout HD
F1 Championship Edition
ModNation Racer
Supercar Challenge.

Action Adventure (Alan Wake is a survival horror game, did you even played it?):
Uncharted 1 and 2
Dark Mist
3D Dot Game Heroes.

MMORPG: I also don't remember any PS3 full exclusive in here... In fact, not even non exclusive, as I believe Free Realms is only on PC for now, it should release in PS3 in November if I remember right. That said, there is an MMO on PS3, Sodium, which is part of Home, but it isn't an RPG.

TPS:
SOCOM Confrontation
Warhawk

FPS:
MAG
Resistance 1 and 2
Haze

Stealth action (Espionage? I know Conviction isn't a prime example of stealth - or of exclusive - but still... LOL):
MGS4

Create... Wait, what? Not only LBP is the only game to claim such a thing as a genre so far, but also a game mode, little feature or some community possibilities aren't full games by any mean!

RTS: Again, point for you. I don't remember any full exclusive RTS on PS3, although there are some on PSN, like Mushroom Wars, there is also lots of turn based stuff, but nothing comparable to RUSE or Civilization Revolution.

Platformers:
Little Big Planet
Ratchet & Clank Future 1, 2 and 3

Arcade: yeah yeah, we get an online store too, chill.

Also in other genres not fitting above, many of which 360 has no equivalent:
Afrika
Heavy Rain
Lair
MLB
Virtua Tennis 4
Siren
Time Crisis
Hustle Kings
High Stakes on the Vegas Stip
High Velocity Bownling
Home

I didn't disagree with you, baodeus, 360 has other games than mediocre shooters. But to think PS3 can't put up a list of games as variated or better than this 360 one is delusional.

EDIT: Now THAT is a wall of text! LOL

Well they make controllers for PCs and Macs...what's the difference? They've crossed over in both departments on some things.

Resistance4987d ago

The ability to actually stand up to pc gamers in fps games is what excites me. I'm looking forward to this lol

DigitalAnalog4986d ago

There's one on the PS3 as well:

http://www.bannco.com/

I found one postive review on this:

http://playstationlifestyle...

Turns out Killzone 2 doesn't fare with this (obviously, as the controls are more weighted).

Microsoft makes some pretty nice mouses. Love my Comfort Optical Mouse 3000. Feels great. Don't see why they haven't looked into one for the 360.

This though, looks interesting.

specialguest4987d ago (Edited 4987d ago )

According to Merriam Dictionary:

4. plural also mous·es : a small mobile manual device that controls movement of the cursor and selection of functions on a computer display

http://www.merriam-webster....

likedamaster4987d ago (Edited 4987d ago )

Eiffel got it right. It's 'mice' only when referring to rodents and 'mouses' when referring to the hardware.

on topic/
It could work for an RTS.

BYE4987d ago

Really? This Comfort Optical Mouse 3000 must be an exception then. Most of the MS mice I used weren't that good quality, I had more luck with Logitech.

DaBadGuy4987d ago

This is awesome. Now all we need is a keyboard and we're set. This mouse will be great for stuff like RUSE.

Dan504987d ago

Or was it just 3rd party memory cards?

T3MPL3TON 4987d ago

You thought correct. A change of policy obviously.

Akagi4987d ago

Looks great, if a little fiddly.

Gaming Bits: Scorch for Xbox 360 Review

Gaming Bits writes: "The Scorch for Xbox 360 controller by Bannco offers gamers a decent way to play their favorite shooters on the Xbox 360 with a wireless mouse and thumbstick controller. While the hardware is solidly built, the configuration software is limited and may be difficult to use. Gamers who are willing to spend a significant amount of time tweaking their game settings will find a lot to like about the Scorch."

I think this should be the control scheme for the next xbox. I like this combo but, not the performance.
