IGN: Dead Rising 2 Review

IGN writes: "Dead Rising 2 is good. Very good, in fact. I felt like I needed to get that out right away. See, a few weeks ago I previewed the first two days of the game, and I found a title that was chugging in spots, suffering from really long loads, and generally not performing like a game that was about to come out. I reported that Capcom said it was aware of the issues and working to fix them, but even I rolled my eyes at the idea of the company getting everything in line for launch day. Well, it's not perfect and it is rough around the edges here and there, but Dead Rising 2 is definitely a winner".

Dead Rising 2 is Dead Rising only 2,5x better. The Combo Card System really rocks the house.
I already played the hell out of it, since my local game store of choice had it leaked 5 days before the release. :D

Yeah I was watching a live stream the other night on justin.tv the loading times look annoying as hell and he had it installed to his 360 hard drive. They were over 20 seconds.

First one rocked! If you didn't like the first you will more than likely not like the second. It's basically the same with Bathroom saves and a constant ringing cellphone.

One big positive is the survivor AI they are much better and will fight along with you and actually will keep up with you and have better balanced health.

Tip though, if you have a survivor spam the Y button(I think triangle on PS3) and continue telling them to hurry up and catch up. If you don't they will fall behind and if you have to pass through a door you have to wait for them.

Another thing I find annoying is the voice acting and the fact that Fortune City is just Willamete Mall reskinned for the most part with a couple new additions.

Not too surprised. It's a good series, but far from great.
A 7/10 would have most likely been more accurate.
After a week we'll see how far I'm off, but I have a strong feeling I'm pretty spot on.

One word............. FANTASTIC.

Saving AI survivors is much less hassle.

Been able to shoot and move at the same time is a big plus.

The amounts of ways i have killed zombies already far surpasses the origional AND i have still only used no more than a handful of combo cards so far.

The motorbike is very responsive.

The psychos that i have faced so far have all been varied. (fought 4)

i could go on and on........

And i still have not played terror is reality online or co-op campaign yet.

Really a shame that the game is basically the same as the first one. The first one gets a free pass because it released so early this gen and was the first good game 360 got. Some in the PS3 community wondered why the first game was never ported over, but this game is basically it. What would you need another one for? I think it's funny killing zombies in videogames and it's something that can almost never get old, but to buy the (basically) same game twice is like being a zombie.

But having to be at the mall again is wack, just as the tired old controls still suck. Like I said before...the first game got a free pass for playing like a last gen game because it came so early. To still be playing like a last gen game is a fail. Am I supposed to be excited that I can combine weapons now even though it still handles like it's 07? And Blue Castle should be ashamed of themselves for biting a game so hard. At least all the God of War clones have their own universe.

I like the game, its very much like the first, perhaps bit more colour, and more ways to kill zombies. It feels slightly easier to move past zombies, but there are lots more of them from the off.

That's not to say its easier, cos its not. Still got a tense feeling while playing because of all the zombies and the time restraints against you.

When I stop playing the game, I want to put it back on :P

Only really down-flaw is not the fact of loading, cos its 3-4 seconds to load the next area, but the initial start cut scenes are constant for the first 20-30 minutes of the game.

I'd agree with the review and give it an 8 also. It's really good !

Its a very fun game, but it isn't without its flaws i.e. screen tearing and lots of loading screens. However, there are loads of ways you can kill zombies and theres nothing funnier than shoving a giant robot teddy bear on top of another zombie. Pure win. Its just the kind of zombie game the PS3 needed, especially after RE5 and the Majini.
