IGN: Lord of the Rings: Aragorn's Quest Review

Lord of the Rings: Aragorn's Quest is fun and satisfying, if just a tad repetitive action adventure with good fan service to those of you that love the Tolkein novels and Peter Jackson films. Both the Wii and PlayStation 3 version of Aragorn's Quest are virtually identical, but it's pretty clear that the game was originally developed for Wii and quickly converted to PlayStation 3 with rushed Move support. The Wii version easily gets the nod as the one to get.

me three. GameFly has been great. It's letting me play games I'd never buy but actually are decent titles like Toy Story 3 and Where the Wild Things Are(such a poor kid's ICO in a small fraction of the sort, it makes it fun..who though?...eh?..lol)

sony should really start giving 3rd party dev tools to help make games for their system

multiplat looked better on 360, cause dev have a hard time develloping them for ps3

now move games will be better played on the wii cause dev cant programm the move correctly

Sony developed a free multicore engine called the PhyreEngine. I guess that's about all they can do, and I'm quite sure small studios appreciate that.

For example, in that engine is where games like Flower, Atelier Rorona, Ar Tonelico 3, Demon's Souls, the upcoming Disgaea 4, as well as other games run on.

-So from that quote, I'm guessing that he played the PS3 version as well?

-If so, how are the move controls worse?

-The PS3 version does not even come out till next week, so I'm wondering if he has actually even has played it, and I wonder how the Move controls were implemented, and how they are "inferior".

-Does this game use motion plus? Because if not, You would think that the PS3 version would be better and the Move technology and PS3's graphics capability would make it automatically better....

-Weak video review......next time you talk down about the other systems version...give us some more substantial points as to "why" its inferior in your opinion.....this is why I don't read IGN.....

I really, *really* hate to defend IGN, but...

From the review: "the sword swinging on Move is surprisingly sluggish and inaccurate. There are far more misreads on this controller than on Wii, and after a few minutes of playing this way you'll probably go right back to standard Dual Shock controls which work far better."

From the review: "The PlayStation 3 version is a direct port of the Wii version, right down to its visuals – and that's a major shortcoming. While Aragorn's Quest sits comfortably as one of the better Wii title, the upconverting of these visuals to HD standards on PS3 does not do the game any favors... These characters look lifeless and blocky in the higher definition, and what's worse is the display suffers from unacceptable screen tearing all over the place.... the PlayStation 3 edition can't pull off what the Wii's doing in high resolution without obvious setbacks…that's a problem."

Seems pretty clear to me.

thanks for saving me reading it, thats a shame i was quite looking foward to using this with move thought it would have 1:1 sword nevermind hopefully we get a RPG with 1:1 swords ect sometime soon elder scrolls perhaps, i wish lol

Can always get Zelda for 1:1 sword fighting or just deal with inferior controls for a few years.

ON a side note it is funny to see Move not being up to par with Wii. What with all the Sony fans on this site that helped develop it.

I'll probably pass on this but having just got Move and played SC I was really impressed and am hoping for a good Lord of the Rings or similar style game coming soon for the PS3 with good Move support, I guess it might have to be first party to get the quality as these 3rd party dev's just shovel things onto the Wii in as little time as possible.
