Xbox 360 Gets a price cut, will Sony follow?

Microsoft today announced a price cut for the Xbox 360 in Europe, effectively knocking £30 off the price of the standard premium version, making it £249.99 with the Elite coming in at £299.99, now as the Xbox 360 is selling generally well in the UK anyway this news can only boost sales of the console, but what are Sony going to do to combat this?

I would think Sony is going to look at what happens the first month after the price cut. Then take action if needed.

But no matter what happens Im sure Sony will cut the Euro price for the holidays.

..the new 65nm chip comes with the console. A brand new console SHOULDN'T be returned for repair as soon as 1 year, thats simply NOT right.

The PS3 does a good job, though MS will stop at nothing to take over the console industry.

That is not a healthy situation for sonys fanbase and momentum.

1,000.00 USD = 742.094 EUR
1,000.00 USD = 503.175 GBP

PS3's DO NOT cost 742 euros and PS3's DO NOT cost 503 GBP

325.00 USD = 163.647 GBP

The article states the pricedrop is UK is to £250 NOT £163 you tard

Stop spreading useless CRAP

and FYI, the 360 pricedrops didn't seem to have much of an effect in USA (which is probably where you're from. Either that or Retardtopia)

oh nice one alexander you changed your comment. At least even you see how fake your numbers were

Omali6132d ago

why wouldnt they? isnt that what sony does nowadays, follow?

Rama262856132d ago

Omali, what is the point of that comment??

With the anti-sony comment I presume you're pro-xbox. Which in that case surely the xbox was following sony (and nintendo) by making a games console??

But please, leave your useless comments at home where they belong.

Thank you.

Caxtus7506132d ago (Edited 6132d ago )

wth? £30?? thats less than a game. Ah well, i guess F279 to F249 does look more tempting, just doesnt seem much but yes does look a nicer price :)

rukusa6132d ago

Im pro PS3, but I dont agree with Sony's price tag strategy.

However I do hope they'll cut the price. Hopefully we'll hear more details in about 2 days :).

BLUR1116132d ago (Edited 6132d ago )

ahhh, those highminded britts don't deserve a price cut , but the rest of europe is cool AS shlt

rukusa6132d ago

"But rest of Europe is coola AS sh*t"

What the f*ck is that suppose to mean?

benny o klaatt6132d ago

premiums are at £229.99 and a forza bundle is £249.99

That’s just laughable to me. I think they’ve squeezed all they can out of an 12 year old game

The Status of Every PlayStation Franchise

Sony owns a fair few iconic franchises - many dating right back to the original PlayStation. But while we’re pretty familiar with the likes of ongoing series such as God of War, Horizon, and Gran Turismo, there are plenty of PlayStation franchises that haven’t seen the light of day in a long time. So in this video, we’re going to be taking a look at the status of PlayStation’s many IPs, and checking in on when we last heard from them.

Status in one word:

Underutilized.

The end.

anast8h ago

Which ones should they utilize more?

BehindTheRows7h ago

Indeed. We hear this “underutilized” talk as if every old franchise should have a comeback or reboot.

I_am_Batman6h ago(Edited 6h ago)

When new IPs start looking like Concord, you can't blame people for wanting another Resistance or Killzone instead.

anast6h ago(Edited 6h ago)

J&D and Resistance are good ones. As much as I love these, though, I'm not sure they would payoff without an enormous marketing push. Younger gamers today do not have taste and the older gamers that would appreciate these might not be enough. But yeah, I would day 1 Resistance.

Well that’s just the consequence of consistently producing new IPs isn’t it. Not all studios can be or want to be like polyphony digital who made gran turismo all the time.

Here lies The Infamous Series; once a shining beacon of free flying, lighting bolt sniping, and wire riding amazing gameplay, it has been laid to rest and be forgotten for what seems like forever despite being loved by millions. Plot next to Wipeout across from NBA Jam.

Lightning773h ago

Still baffling they cancelled Twisted Metal, Factions 2 and Spider-Man Multiverse LS game but thought Concord looked good enough.

Chocoburger3h ago

Ape Escape, Parappa / Lammy, Gravity Rush, good times. Always hoping for them to make a return, or at least similar type games, such as the newly-announced Astro Bot, but one game isn't enough. Bring back the joyfulness of the 90's era of gaming.
