Deadly Premonition Xbox 360 Review - NowGamer

NowGamer reviews Deadly Premonition on Xbox 360 - "There’s something of a perverse pleasure in finding a game like Deadly Premonition. If you’re the sort of person that enjoys digging out books nobody has read, films noboy has watched and games that are rarely played, then this is for you; it’s got cult hit written all over it. If having these sorts of things on your shelves gives you a warm feeling of superiority, the you’ll no doubt all ready be drawn to Deadly Premonition’s Lynch-like surrealism and murder mystery plot."

Nice review. Sounds like it might have the same kind of charm to it as games like Earth Defense Force has.

The David Lynch reference sounds interesting, if the game really has the humor from the movies, it should be fun.

I might buy it for PS3 as soon as it drops in price.

Dread4989d ago

it did not come out for the Playstation 3

i think..

Yes it did come out in Asia as "Red Seeds Profile", but for like $60, that's why I'm waiting for a price drop.

It should be $20 like the 360 version in the US.

I hope the European release finds success. This game has become pretty well liked by most Western critics. Euro reviews won't be as prone to the kneejerk reactions from American mainstream sites like IGN, who probably got 2 hours in and slapped a bad score on it. Hopefully more scores like this come around and DP is accepted as a great game.

is it true that it will release on xbox360 on 17th of September (source Wikipedia)..??? I like not ordinary games :P :)

GameOn4989d ago

I just checked ma amazon preorder and it seems to have been put back to October.

It’s sooooo janky but the story is so good and the agent is so quirky I loved it thouroughly, the story is that good that you can actually make it through all of its jankiness and issues .
It’s a diamond in the rough and rough is saying lighly.
This game deserves a remake out of any game I can think of .
If they fixed the combat ,driving and movement this would be one of my favorite games all time and it already is in a way.

The first time I turned on my flashlight was one of the funniest things I have ever seen in a game. His suit just sort of lights up. There's no physical flashlight in his hand--hilarious. It's also the only game I've played to truly capture the delightfull quirkiness of Twin Peaks. I'm with you on how much I like this game. Despite all of its flaws, it's a genuinely fun experience. "My coffee warned me about it," is probably my favorite line of all time in any video game.

I still haven't played the sequel, but I will some day.

I enjoyed this back during ps3 days. I'd buy it again if they re released it fixed up a little. I had fun with it.

ok I believe that Deadly Premonition 2 scene described in the article, takes the cake! Although one could argue that there are so many memorable ridiculous moments in this game.

Wish the F.E.A.R. franchise would get resurrected.

COG Considers: Why Are There So Many Games About Killers With Split Personalities?

This week on COG Considers, we tackle one of the most tired and unpleasant tropes in horror games: why games--and every other pop culture avenue--are so determined to paint people with Dissociative Identity Disorder as murderers.

Surprised killer7 isn't mentioned. This was the central premise of that game

KDblack1303d ago

Killer7 was mentioned, but only for one sentence because it's the central premise of the game. There wasn't really a need to go into detail.

gamerben1303d ago

Oh woops didn't catch it. Sorry mang

mastershredder1303d ago

Are they? You are fixed on Japanese games that are anime based/fashioned. Perhaps if you were not playing games that are similar to the animes that inspired them you would have more/different experiences.

When Cliche and Troupes are the building blocks, you can’t expect much. Just like you cannot expect good case study when the tester/observer has practically no variance in test subjects.

Sooooo many horror games out there... you really gotta explore some more.

KDblack1303d ago

I am aware! But games like Outlast or Remothered aren't really doing anything different, either--the most you could say is that Outlast hammers in that not all mental patients are dangerous. Just some of them. It really isn't just anime-inspired games that are doing this, even if you're counting Deadly Premonition among them. Bendy and the Ink Machine did it with Alice Angel, Krieg from the Borderlands games is this but played for laughs, and Dog/God from Fallout: New Vegas' Dead Money DLC is another example of both murder and weird, unrealistically rapid closure. This article was inspired after seeing one too many indie games on Steam with the premise 'discover the inner world of this tormented killer with DID.' Trust me when I say I'm exploring all kinds of horror games, and even outside those boundaries, because this is a really wide-reaching pattern.

That said, if you have any recs for more interesting/less stereotypical usage of characters with DID, hit me up.
