PS3 vs. Xbox 360 - Madden NFL 11 August 2010 Sales Ranks

"The chart below shows the August sales ranks for Madden NFL 11 on the PS3 and Xbox 360; sales ranks were captured between August 2 and August 31, 2010. The game released on both consoles with a MSRP of $59.99.", says CoffeewithGames.

CwG also say, "Will Madden NFL 11's first month sales increase for both consoles over Madden NFL 10's? Or, will Madden NFL 11 see another year-over-year decrease in initial month sales on the Xbox 360, versus the PS3's gain?"

CwG says of the chart, "You may not have noticed the asterisks marking August 13, 14, and 15 on the sales graph, but on those days, I recorded only the Xbox 360 version of Madden NFL 11 discounted to $49.99, the PS3 version was not discounted to $49.99."

and if so, where did you purchase it? Do you think Madden NFL 11 is better or worse, than other Madden games you have played?

I love football and purchasing Madden is a routine for me every year. Some years I actually wonder why I "fall" for it every year but I actually like this years the best. I have a 360 and PS3 and bought Madden 11 for the PS3 just because I have always played Madden on Playstation.

The main reason I like this version best (amongst others)is the Gameflow addition. It makes it more accessible for novice players by taking a lot of the decision work out of it. My son is 8 and is playing his first year of contact football and we can put it on Gameflow, let the cpu call the plays and have a decently competitive game. Flip it back to the conventional way when my buddies come over, (screw online it's all about talking shit face to face) and play it old school.

exact same thing for me (exept gf not 8 year old son)

this is the first time i bought a Madden game full price in about 4 years. it is a good game. it is very very boring offline. I hope they let you play your own music instead of the prerender trash music.... i will not be buying another madden for years to come....

CoffeewithChess4993d ago

talking about customizing the music in Madden NFL 11? Or in future games?

I didn't follow if that was a statement or a question.

moodymofo4992d ago

the soundtrack is the worst ever i dont know why they wont let us have custom trax ,other ea sports games let you . if l hear thunderstruck one more time im goin postal

Dread4992d ago

FYI
you can play you own music on the 360.

Haven't purchased a Madden game since '09. I have seen and played subsequent versions, but nothing I have seen has made me feel like "pulling the trigger." At this point I have barely seen anything aside from updated rosters to make me want the new version. Yes, the graphics and some game play are slightly improved, but to me it basically is the same game I have in my shelf.
What I am really waiting for is another game to compete with Madden to hopefully spur some advancements.

this is useless information.

Sales data (and I use that term loosely since this is just a ranking) via Amazon best sellers lists means ZERO to anyone other than a fanboy. You have no idea of the difference between rank #1 and #10 are as little as 10 units from week to week.

Congrats to the author of this for making an absolutely pointless article.

CoffeewithChess4992d ago

as mentioned in my first reply, "While the NPD data for August 2010 hasn't been released yet, we can take a look at how Madden NFL 11 appears to have been selling during the month of August. With the use of Amazon.com, I tracked Madden NFL 11's sales ranks on the PS3 and Xbox 360 over 16 days in August, at various times each day."

I'm not trying to use the data as sales numbers, and Amazon.com is the only site I know that does sales ranks for video games that are updated on an hourly basis.
Again, I hope tracking the sales ranks may help provide an insight to the NPD numbers that are released.

Thanks for taking a look at it though.

Dread4992d ago

I agree

this article is pointless. Sadly you can tell that the author spent a lot of time on it.

CoffeewithChess4992d ago

didn't like it:

I did say in it, "While the NPD data for August 2010 hasn't been released yet, we can take a look at how Madden NFL 11 appears to have been selling during the month of August. With the use of Amazon.com, I tracked Madden NFL 11's sales ranks on the PS3 and Xbox 360 over 16 days in August, at various times each day."

I'm hoping the data from Amazon.com can help to show us the trends of games and retail sales, when compared with the NPD data.

I do know numbers/stats stuff isn't for everybody; thanks for taking a look though.

Cleveland Browns Running Back Peyton Hillis Latest Victim Of The Madden Curse

When it comes to sports curses, aside from the Chicago Cubs, there’s no more active superstition than the Madden curse. Since 1999, almost every year something bad has happened to the cover athlete of Electronic Arts’ bestselling Madden NFL franchise. Cleveland Browns running back Peyton Hillis is the latest victim of this curse.
