man the Move gains more and more hardcore games,
btw its damn time to see a Oddworld game on a HD console

Bobbykotickrulesz4991d ago

I remember playing this on my Xbox.

Fun times.

gaffyh4991d ago

I really wanted to play this last gen on PS2, and was super disappointed that it was Xbox-only, but I'm really happy now that I can play it :D.

OnlyTheTruth4991d ago

Never played it but one of my friends raves about it, as it's one of his all time favorites. Very exciting to know I'll finally be able to play it.

kaos_fish II4991d ago

One of the best games last gen - had super fun playing it. Can't wait to play it now on the PS3

KyRo4991d ago

LOL.. people are going on like this was an Xbox exclusive, it was on the PS2 as well. The only exclusive Oddworld game Microsoft had was Munches game. I think people are getting it confused with that.

raztad4991d ago

@Kyro

Oddworld:Stranger's Wrath was a XBOX exclusive.

"Oddworld: Stranger's Wrath is an action-adventure game developed by Oddworld Inhabitants and published by Electronic Arts for the Microsoft Xbox."

Wikipedia

I find this news very very surprising. If anything I would have expected game to be released on xbl as well. I'll have to give this game a try. 720p + MOVE support sounds great.

kaos_fish II4991d ago

@KyRo

it was a xbox exclusive - EA did do a PS2 port but they never released it, at least not here in the US.

KyRo4991d ago (Edited 4991d ago )

My bad my memories failing me :D

It's been a long time since I've played the first Oddworld Abe's game.

Great MOVE support too.

dc14991d ago

Yeah,.. I purchased the original Xbox (back in the day) for this game - It’s worth it.
I will be picking it up without question.

Looking forward to the move support and the whip to pull in my bounties!!!

MisterNiwa4991d ago

I thought this was a joke.. Now I cry tears of joy.

Quagmire4991d ago (Edited 4991d ago )

So to a noob like me, what is this game and why should I care? (I mean no disrespect, just curious)

MisterNiwa4991d ago (Edited 4991d ago )

The Oddworld Series is a IP based on a world with many different characters and stories with a unique art style and different gameplays.

In the PSX Era the Oddworld Series debuted as Platformer with Abe's Odyssey with astounishing 3D effects and rendering.
Also the gameplay was really challenging.

Following were a sequel and various 3D Adventure games on the Xbox like Munch's Odyssey and Strangers Wrath.

And seriously, Strangers Wrath was one of the best Xbox Games out there.

sarshelyam4991d ago

...easily one of, if not THE best Oddworld title. It was a far more profound story than any of its predecessors and featured a truly tormented and touching story.

callahan094991d ago

This is awesome news! I never played this game on Xbox, but I always heard how awesome it is. I remember wanting to get it, but I had sold my Xbox and gotten a 360 to replace it, and this game wasn't on the backward compatible list, so I never bought it. I don't know if it ever got patched onto the BC list or not, but after a while I just sort of forgot about it. Now it's coming to PS3 with Move support, and it looks like a great sort of game for Move. Can't wait!

mac_sparrow4991d ago (Edited 4991d ago )

Yup, about time the odd came back.

I remember the day I found out that MS had bought the franchise for a time and the rumoured to be 95% done ps2 munch was binned. A sad day.

The oddworld games and kung fu chaos (for parties) was about all I missed when I sold my original Xbox.

Sizzon4991d ago

Loved the PS1 Oddworld games.

Hellsvacancy4991d ago (Edited 4991d ago )

This is the best news EVER, i love Oddworld

Edit: PSN Exclusive

Kain814991d ago

...at least it is only confirmed for PS3 for now

get2sammyb4991d ago

PlayStation Move support too.

JohnApocalypse4991d ago

I hope it comes to XBLA too. I tried to play the original game on my 360 but it wasn't backwards compatible with that game

AKS4991d ago (Edited 4991d ago )

I have been in the same situation. I was incredibly pissed they wouldn't support BC of one of the best Xbox 1 games.

JohnApocalypse4991d ago

Did you read the article? It says it will be download only game

sloth33954991d ago (Edited 4991d ago )

you mean the 360 isnt backwards compatible with all games like most of the fan boys try to say and make fun of the PS3 for not having it lol

JohnApocalypse4991d ago

But the 360 is backwards compatible with most games and the PS3 is compatible with none. And the Wii can play all Gamecube games

sloth33954991d ago (Edited 4991d ago )

@JohnApocalypse the older ps3 was backwards compatible with alot of ps2 games and all PS3 r campatible with all PS1 games

ChronoJoe4991d ago (Edited 4991d ago )

Actually the PS3 is backwards compatible with more games than 360 or GC. With every PS1 being backwards compatible with PSX titles and the PSX having a larger library than the 360 or Gamecube.

ChronoJoe4991d ago

*With every PS3 being...

Arnon4991d ago

That's... really stretching it.

ChronoJoe4991d ago

Maybe, but it'd be ludicrous to have access to titles like FF7 on the platform, isn't quite a big deal.

Stranger's Wrath is still brilliant 15 years on - and the new Switch port is impressive

As one of the last major releases for the original Xbox, Oddworld: Stranger's Wrath is also one of the most memorable games on the system, taking the series to new places with a cross between third-person platforming and first-person shooting. With its unique weapons system, open-ended mission design and fascinating story, it's a game that always felt special and still holds up today - and it's recently received an impressive Switch conversion.
