Sony, Amazon Said to Be Prepping Media Services

Tomsguide.com : "As if things weren't already crowded enough with today's Apple TV announcement and rumors of Google's possible movie and TV streaming service, Sony and Amazon are being ushered onto the bandwagon.
Word on the street is both Sony and etailer giant Amazon have plans to start their media services. The Financial Times cites sources in the media that say Sony's new subscription service will launch on the PlayStation 3 first (we assume via the PSN), before creeping across to the company's other devices, such as its Vaio computers, Sony Ericsson phones, Bravia TVs, Blu-ray players, and Walkman PMPs."

Now that xbox live is 60 a year, your primary goal should be to add this feature.

I mean..

Don’t underestimate the importance of this, Sony… XBL has this feature, and the internet is constantly ablaze with comments about how much better Live is than PSN, and how that’s a reason to own a 360. Well the main reason anybody says this is because of the cross-game chat feature. If you want that stigma of “you what you pay for, and you pay nothing for PSN” to go away, then you have to start adding in the features that 360 fans lord over PS3 fans’ heads, which is pretty much just cross-game chat. Add in that feature, and what argument do they have left to claim that Xbox Live is better? And with PSN being on par with XBL but Xbox users have to PAY for Live, and PSN users get it for free, it really sends the message out there that Live isn’t a reason to get a 360 over a PS3. If you’re concerned about selling more consoles and not losing sales to the Xbox, then adding this feature I think will be a BIG help. Not to mention that when 360 owners see games they are interested in on the PS3, if they see that PSN has the same features they’re accustomed to having Xbox Live, they won’t be as hesitant to buy a second console and encourage their friends to get a PS3 and join them in social gaming on the PS3 as well.
