In the PC version of Mafia 2 you will get a lot of graphics fails, especially textures, color banding and low poly objects. That's pity because some parts of the game really look great. PCGH has 37 screenshot proofs.
With E3 starting next week, 2K Games revealed the biggest E3 line up they have for the year

GF365: "There are some games with extraordinary visuals that impress us to this day. Here are old games with outstanding graphics."
I always thought the first 3 Gears of War games looked great and still hold up for today.
Far Cry 2 was awesome. In addition to having demonstrably better physics and AI than later games in the series, it had a lot of design decisions that, criticized at the time, have since been praised in games like BOTW and Dark Souls.
It might not be super amazing by today's standard but I thought Mgs3 looked really good
Originally released back in 2010 for last-gen (PS3, Xbox 360) consoles, 2K Games has re-released Mafia 2 as part of the Mafia Trilogy, and has called it the “Definitive Edition.” Now, the question is, does this mafia go for the kill, or does it run out of bullets? Read on for our Mafia 2 Definitive Edition review.
Why would the graphics NOT fail when you increase the resolution?
Well it still looks the "best" out of them, if that means anything...
This game's steam is starting to die out, quick.
There is no way those screens are taken from the maximum quality, my 360 version looks better than that. I've seen screens taking from the highest settings and they look much better than that.
Seriously are they going to seek out every slightly rough looking texture or effect? We arent at photorealism just yet....you could do that with pretty much any game you care to mention.
The game isnt the greatest looking on Pc but generally it looks rather pretty overall, the lighting and soft shadowing in particular is lovely whether its day or night, snow shine or sunset. The car models are gorgeous and the main textures are pretty nice looking, some of the surfaces are nailed rather well, especially shiny ones: http://i731.photobucket.com...
This shot http://i731.photobucket.com... shows some nice effects like the tread marks in the compacted snow which look raised in headlights, parallax mapped. The snow sticks to the cars, building up a coating slowly. It even collects on roofs of them and slides off in one big lump when you accelerate! The road looks shiny with melted water/ice, the SSAO is subtle and adds good depth. The car damage model is rather well done and better than a lot of so called sim racers.
Not the most stunning games by any means, but certainly a long way from dodgy looking on PC. Play R.U.S.E and point out its rather shoddy looking visuals, get back to me...
