Halo Reach to become video game of the decade?

Since E3 in 2009 Halo Reach’s anticipation has been building to become arguably the most wanted video game in 2010 and perhaps this decade.

Evidently a considerable large amount of time and money has been invested into the games development, which has already achieved success through the fan-bases over-excitement and significant pre-ordering for the title.

Will it become the game of the decade?

It will be for many people...who the hell are you to judge? For others it may be GT5 or GOW3. Man..the people on this LOVE to downplay others opinions.

GWAVE- So..whats wrong with that. If someone told you that GT5 or GOW3 was the best game ever...would their argument be any stronger than the guy who says Reach is the best game ever? The answer is no. Its all opinion. There is OBJECTIVELY speaking, no "best game ever" and I laugh in the face of anyone who thinks otherwise.

@zootang- No, IMO the best game ever is Shenmue..but if there are people out there who believe Farmville is the best ever..then so be it. You nor I can tell them that they are wrong. I never understood why so many people enjoy downplaying Halo on N4G. Its pretty stupid on their part considering the MILLIONS of people who still play Halo 3.

If Halo isn't ur cup of tea..thats 100% fine..but why the hate for the people who DO enjoy Halo? I'm talking to you GWAVE. Ur biased as hell. U make it seem like people who enjoy Halo are inferior to other gamers. Thats pretty pathetic right there....especially considering that the majority of Halo fans in the world haven't done anything to you, much less even know who u are.

zootang5004d ago

By reckonings Farmville is the best game ever, it is for many people

FiftyFourPointTwo5004d ago

Just like the 10 people who disagreed with SuperTiger's opinion.

Christopher5004d ago (Edited 5004d ago )

I agree with your sentiments, deadreckoning666, on why some can't say one game is the best while another couldn't be as suck.

Personally, no game is the best in a decade. Too many good games are produced of differing types and purpose. I think it tends to be stretching it with choosing a single best game in a year, but luckily that's why multiple opinions tend to vary between those few games that shine each year.

I think anyone, a game journalist especially, who is claiming any game, prior to its release, could be game of the decade, let alone the year, isn't a credible journalist. Not in the least.

And, yeah, I cringe every time I see someone post a 'GotY' comment here in a post about a game that isn't released either (a la GoW3, Heavy Rain, ME2, RDR, etc.). People need to start learning to say such things _after_ they've actually played them.

outrageous5004d ago (Edited 5004d ago )

Wasting your breath on geeks like gwave who are on every 360 thread saying the same thing. He doesn't own a 360 but seems to know alot about it, like all PS3 fanboys...lol.

Halo Reach is unmatched on PS3 or anywhere else for that matter. The game's formula has been perfected for years. Much like Resident Evil 4, it's a accumulative thing.

It's easy to see why Xbox 360 fans are excited about Halo. Whats sad is the pathetic PS3 crowd clicking on a 360 EXCLUSIVE thread trying to say different.

@zootang...Farmville is FREE dumba$$.

gamingdroid5004d ago

It is called product bias, tolerance and self-esteem.

It seems many have issues with some or all of the above.

dragon825004d ago

You know what, as a PS3 owner I have every right to come in to a "360 EXCLUSIVE" thread and voice my opinion that there are plenty of better games than HALO. I can give that informed opinion based on the fact that I also own an Xbox 360 just like I owned the original Xbox last generation. How about next time you want to jump in and label people "PS3 fanboys" just because they don't get down on their knees and worship the almighty HALO you do us all a favor and keep it to yourself.

gamingdroid5003d ago

I see no reason why you can't voice your opinion, if it is with a good reason. Most opinions we get here are of the sort "Halo suckzzzz! Get KZ2 instead!" if you catch my drift.

On top of that we get the serial fanboys like Gwave that just makes flamatory comments in the Xbox 360 section like the one above. We really don't need that and it certainly doesn't improve the community.

Constructive criticism is fine, not flamatory or trolling!

Have to play it first. The hype for this game is beyond ridiculous. No wonder ms hiked up the price of live they needed pay off money for reviews, ads and hyperbole to keep the game in the spotlight.

Count5004d ago

Love the ''pay off money for reviews'', do you have anything to back up that statement? Hm.. hm.. hm..

Didn't think so.

zootang5004d ago

It's not pay off so to speak, it's more like giant swag bags worth at least $300. Not to mention the free consoles given away to the press at E3.

anh_duong5004d ago (Edited 5004d ago )

don't we still have another 10 years of this decade left?? a bit premature, perhaps..

game of the decade.. hmm... personally i am going for halo 7 or possibly uncharted 6 or even call of duy 6: modern warfare 9

bjornbear5004d ago (Edited 5004d ago )

decade 2000 - 2010? or decade 2010 - 2020?

isnt it 2000-2009 / 2010-2019?
in which case, we'd have to wait 9 years to know this, thus this news is:

extremely ambitious, premature and rather short sighted considering the HUGE advancements that will occur in the next 9 years.

I am a little confused xD

and + no

no game is game of the decade, its all subjective. Im all for hype but this is just ridiculous.

maybe to some it will be, but not to EVERYONE

Agent-865004d ago (Edited 5004d ago )

Technically, the year 2000 is the last year of the 20th century: there is no Year Zero as A.D. begins in the Year One (so, the first decade was 1 A.D. through 10 A.D.). That makes the decade in this article as games released from 2001 through 2010. That's why the article is so laughable: we already have the game of the decade and that was Half-Life 2. Sorry, but Halo Reach might be lucky to be included in the top ten games of the decade, let alone THE game of the decade.

Jaces5004d ago

Halo is fun but nothing close to game of the decade.

Agent-865004d ago

Sorry, but Halo Reach isn't the game of the decade. That honor has already been taken by Half-Life 2. Nice try, though. Halo Reach might be lucky to be included as one of the top ten games of the decade, but is definitely is not THE game of the decade....not even close. Just look at the popularity of all the HL2 mods and using of the Source code in numerous other games. Sorry, but HL2 is the game of decade.

What game is better?

Halo has been a massive hit, you can't deny that.

Kos-Mos5004d ago

And so were pearl harbour. Does that make it a good movie?
What`s wrong with people? Do they really think that because many tends to like one thing, it`s good?
My mate likes halo, and now, so do I.

Nate-Dog5004d ago

We don't know because....

It's not out yet.

Optical_Matrix5004d ago

Most anticipated game of 2010? By who's standards? Not mine, I'll tell you that. This is all subjective.

MiloGarret5004d ago

Ehhh no, not really, at all. Anticipation can be accurately measured and presented in a comprehensive manner, why would you claim otherwise?

Lyr1c5004d ago (Edited 5004d ago )

Because all of my xbot friends don't care about Reach... The only people excited for Reach, ironically, are the 9th graders in my high school. Other than that, no one (that I know of) really cares for the franchise.

MiloGarret5004d ago

Was I talking to you? Or is that one of your many other accounts? Your reply doesn't change the fact that anticipation amongst consumers can be measured and presented in a comprehensive manner.

I wonder how many of you actually understand what subjective means...
Btw, for future reference children, your personal experience means nothing when considering these issues. I may not know a single person who likes Justin Bieber or Miley Cyrus, but that doesn't change the fact that they're very popular.

after read all this i ask my self why some people has so many bubbles?

Bungie Replaces Marathon Director Amid Leadership Shakeup, Fears of Layoffs

Amid ongoing anxiety within Bungie following layoffs last year, the studio is now preparing for another shakeup, this time on Marathon.

Kaii54d ago

Layoffs should be hitting the incompetent management at this point.

Profchaos54d ago

Talk about mismanaged Bungie is a studio of tremendous potential and have made some of the greatest shooters to date. Sony pushed them to just make another Destiny style game and consult on other studios live service games and are now getting thrown under a bus as the pivot away from predominantly gaas games is unfolding.

I'd love to see a world where Bungie can focus on telling great sci fi stories again away from a live service dungeon but we all know that's a pipe dream

Rynxie54d ago (Edited 54d ago )

Are you serious? Do you just talk out of your arse naturally, or did it take years of being a POS?

Profchaos54d ago

You normally get so offended by internet comments or did it take years of being soft

purple10154d ago (Edited 54d ago )

Yes I see your point mate, someone clearly didn’t read the article.

Specifically the bit:

“Notably, multiple sources at the time and since have shared that Sony has largely left the studio to sort out its own troubles and was not responsible for the layoffs, with CEO Pete Parsons taking responsibility.“

He’s just spouting nonsense

Huey_My_D_Long54d ago

lol what so fucking hilarious is that you called him out so bad he projected him being offended onto you.

Its been well documented that Bungie's management has been more responsible for their shortfalls, even mentioned in said article that we are commenting on.

Its ok, just admit you didn't read the article.

MIDGETonSTILTS1754d ago

Arrowhead Studios will be Sony’s GaaS consult now.

Gameseeker_Frampt54d ago

I like how for some, it is never Bungie's fault. Microsoft, Activision, and now Sony - it is everyone else who is pushing Bungie to make all these bad decisions.

-Foxtrot53d ago

Thrown under the bus?

Are you joking? This is all Bungie, we all thought it was 100% Activision but it's clear the higher ups at Bungie don't have a clue how to run the studio and are more bothered about saving their own skin and the money that they rake in.

Sony gave them an extra $1.2 Billion to make sure that employees didn't leave and they didn't have to cut anyones jobs. Where did that money go because Bungie still cut peoples jobs and I bet you the higher management still kept a hold of their big fact paychecks and bonuses.

Sony invested poorly in this and the best thing they can do now is throw the old Bungie management out and take hold of the studio fully.

MIDGETonSTILTS1753d ago

Don’t throw the baby out with the bath water. Somebody at Bungie is the golden goose making great shooting mechanics, and the rest need to justify their paychecks.

This studio has had three owners and its never worked well with any of them....Management has issues

ChasterMies53d ago (Edited 53d ago )

Worked very well for Microsoft. Microsoft’s mistake was letting Bungie go.

Fearmonkey53d ago

it worked so well with MS that they so wanted to be away from them they bought the company back. Only to do it again with activision-blizzard, and then sold to Sony...Sony shouldn't have bought them...Bungie hasnt been the same for a long time..
