Gamespot: Vanquish Hands-On

"While the early parts of the missions we played were straightforward and had us directing Sam to set points in the station, eventually new tasks were mixed in, such as rescuing trapped soldiers, setting explosives to open the way for your group to progress, and escorting an armored vehicle through a darkened corridor while facing off with non-robotic creatures. The final mission we tried had us facing off against a Russian soldier wielding a battle suit that seems to shame Sam's from a feature standpoint. All in all, the action was fun, satisfying, challenging, and rewarding thanks to a tally system at the end of each section that rates you on your performance. That said, get ready for a respectable amount of challenge even on the normal difficulty."

GameSpot clearly says that they played it on the PS3 version, why bring the preview from the Xbox 360 section? it doesn't make any sense at all.

Rikitatsu4997d ago

The article is previewing the game, not looking at differences between the two versions.

Just because they played it on the PS3 doesn't mean we should put it only in the PS3 section.

Dance4997d ago (Edited 4997d ago )

vanquish is also on the 360

SuperTiger4997d ago

I know, i didn't mean to sound like that lol.
But usually when they play a game on a PS3 they put it in the PS3 section and vise-versa.

Jaces4997d ago

Wow, I was a bit skeptical at first but the more I see the better it gets.

Bayonetta was neat but Vanquish...now that's my cup of tea.

BTW, who the hell cares which version it is...honestly.

Raider694997d ago

A fanboy equation lol!The game is the same on the two systems!Whats the problem!Enjoy the ride on the system you prefer, and thats it!

Dragun6194997d ago

Well, from the look of game play video. It certainly looks like it will run with a smooth frame rate as Platinum games stated. Can't wait to try out the demo tomorrow.

SaberEdge4997d ago

I don't see any noticeable issues with the PS3 version, which is a big relief. Things like screen tearing or major slow down take me out of a game. I didn't see any of that.

MicroSony4Life4997d ago (Edited 4997d ago )

which is a standard for shooters now a days - but I see why they did not include, this game is very fast and multi player would just be a shooting fest.

Think I will pick up the PS3 version because its the lead platform.

vickers5004997d ago

I'm a big multiplayer fan, but I don't mind it so much. I would however like to see a future iteration of Vanquish come with a multiplayer component.

Devs that usually primarily focus on sp games that want to add mp to their game, need to create separate releases so as to not compromise their games quality. If devs want MP in their game, then they should start working on it after they release their sp portion, so the quality of the mp will not be affected by the sp. And vice versa for single player games.

ex. They could have made Bioshock 2 sp, then released it, then started working on the mp so both the sp and mp would be great.

Not a single Reistance? Fuck this article.

mastershredder23d ago (Edited 23d ago )

Starhawk over Warhawk?...... Dude, NO ONE should listen to you.

Odd choices for "best" more like you settled as these being the "best" that available to you at the time, cause a lot of these blow or were average to poor performers that ended up in bargain bin.

Missing too many great sci-fi titles here. The Void, The Resistance Series, Killzone 2 and 3, Enslaved, man.. there were so many, this is redicu-list.

FreeckyCake23d ago

Nobody should listen to you either with that attitude.

OtterX23d ago

I agree that Starhawk shouldn't be above Warhawk, however I must say that Starhawk multiplayer was incredible for its time! Many people wrote it off bc the single player was quite terrible, bc it was basically 1 huge tutorial for the multiplayer. But I can tell you never spent any significant amount of time in MP. It was doing incredibly tense base building w air, foot and land vehicle (and mech!) combat long before Fortnite was ever a thing.

I bet it would have been much better received if it had just ditched the story mode all together. So many people like yourself completely wrote it off based on reviews by reviewers that let the criticism of single player weigh heavily on their scores. I bet you didn't even play it.

Friendlygamer23d ago

The riddick games are some of the best stealth titles ever, highly underrated

YourMommySpoils23d ago

What games? All recall plating was Escape from Butcher Bay.

Friendlygamer23d ago (Edited 23d ago )

There's also the less acclaimed 'assault on dark Athena'

( also, not saying this to you specifically but there's both resistance and killzone games on the list, it's amazing how even something so simple and innocent as a game list can be turned into misinformed vitriol here lol )

jznrpg23d ago

Glad to see Resonance of Fate. Enslaved was pretty good too. I’m sure there are others nobody has listed but I’m too tired to try and think of anything

Titan fall 2 was chefs kiss. For those of you who haven't played it go ahead. Brilliant. With each level being creatively different.

Island, Steins;Gate Elite and Soma.

MadLad336d ago

Soma is an epic experience.

jznrpg336d ago (Edited 336d ago )

Does ISLAND have English subs ? I can’t find a copy that says it has English subs for PS only the Switch version which I rather not buy .

Love Steins Gate and Soma

shinoff2183336d ago (Edited 336d ago )

FRom what i could find. Nothing with English subs.

Yui_Suzumiya335d ago

I own a physical copy on Switch and it does have English subtitles so it's all good on Switch and Playstation.

Yui_Suzumiya335d ago (Edited 335d ago )

My bad. Steam and Switch have English but PS4 and Vita only have Japanese. Sony doesn't mess with many visual novels which is why I only own a Switch OLED and laptop for all my games.

Actually great list TBH I agree with all 10

I hope one day we get some remakes for the following

The saboteur(with a proper remake and quality of life features this game could be great)
Scarface world is yours
Binary domain ( such a great game with great story)
GUN(this needs a remake)
Space marine 40k(such fun time)

Would also like to suggest adding the mercenary series even the 2nd game which is disliked by many is a fun time

cthulhucultist371d ago

I recently finished Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine and found it to be very enjoyable.

The game respected the lore and the gameplay was quite decent.

The color palette was a bit underwhelming (backdrops and setting) and recycled but I think that it deserved better.

Here's hoping for an amazing sequel
