Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker Review (DualShockers)

DualShockers writes, "The Metal Gear Solid franchise has been one of the very few games in this industry that positively evolved with great consistency alongside progressing consoles every generation. It’s a series that has kept and gained a large following due to its cleverly saturated storyline, and a cast of characters uniquely astonishing and badass to the core. It’s one of the most exalted worlds in the PlayStation brand’s gargantuan library, and it’s a universe brilliantly crafted by Hideo Kojima – a man who has kept the series afloat with compelling storylines, immersive action, and more conspiracies than government agencies have with UFOs. Peace Walker diverts very little from the aforementioned qualities that the series perpetuates so well, and depending on your unique style of play, the game actually offers amendments on Sony’s handheld...."

I would expect nothing less from a Metal Gear Solid game. Another great (non-RPG) reason to own a PSP!

Game it is awesome. This is a very well deserved score.

BTW, the motherbase management stuff looks to be in some form in AC:Brotherhood. It' s quite remarkable PW had it earlier.

Game came out a while back - late ass review. But, it's a great game, and, regardless, deserves the praise it's been receiving.

I don't own a PSP, but I have heard good things about this title. Never been disappointed from a Metal Gear game. Great review!

oh gosh... i may have to pick up a PSP now...

I've always been a fan of Metal Gear Solid series since PlayStation One but I've been skeptical of this one until I played it at E3 and enjoyed it a lot. I'm glad to see that the full title lived up to the demo I was able to play.

This is so well written!! i think thats a wonderful review...
i played 3 MGS games for short times in my life. One was on gamecube, one was called snake eating and it was on ps2 and i played 4 on ps3 and im going to say this: while i see how people could enjoy the games very well executed story, the game play all the creeping and crawling, the scarce resources, that 3 hit combo and repitive move extra slowly because you may get caught and have to run away sequences...i couldnt take it.

some really good games on that list. some of my favorites (not on the list) are Metal Slug XX, ultimate Ghosts & Goblins, Gradius Collection, Motorstorm Arctic Edge and Ratchet & Clank: Size Matters.

Metal Slug XX is surprisingly good.

I get that The Warriors is technically a PS2 game ported over, but damn it's amazing on the PSP

roadkillers621d ago

Dark Mirror was the best. Multiplayer and single player was fantastic

The Out of Place Artifact - A Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker Retrospective

VGChartz's Issa Maki: "Even to fans, the thought that a T-rated game could rank as the greatest is virtually unthinkable; how could the best Metal Gear possibly be a handheld title on a system less powerful than a PlayStation 2? Because it had to be – necessity is the mother of invention. Not only is this a full-fledged Metal Gear, the fresh spin on the gameplay draws from several sources outside of its wheelhouse. Peace Walker somehow manages to be less like its predecessor, Portable Ops, and more akin to Metal Gear Solid V. What boggles the mind is that it would be over five years before The Phantom Pain would release, an entire generation later."
