BeefJack: "Tale of Tales is an extraordinary development studio based in Belgium. In the past, the husband-wife duo have led the creation of The Endless Forest, The Graveyard and The Path, all of which are genuinely worth trying out. Then they made Fatale, which was pushing it, but still basically interesting. They don’t make games in the traditional sense – they’re more works of art which happen to be interactive. But their themes and abstract storytelling methods have always made these sort-of-games well worth a play.
However, Vanitas – which came out for the iPhone a while ago – is another matter entirely. Today it’s been released as a free web-game, which is the first opportunity I’ve had to play it, and it kind of confirms what I thought when I read the original press release: there is absolutely nothing I “get” about this."
