G4TV: Shank Review

When not painting Shank’s environments--which include sun-baked deserts and neon-infused red-light districts--in blood by yourself, you can recruit a revenge-seeking friend to help out. Co-op is local only, but effective side-by-side play totally evokes the forgotten appeal of being shoulder-to-shoulder with a buddy at a Double Dragon or Bad Dudes arcade cabinet.

Still, the lack of online co-op, as well as the repetitive-by-nature gameplay, may turn some players off. However, those with an undying hunger to take on waves of murdering psychotics in a stylish side-scrolling brawler, will love digging their blades into this fresh take on the classic genre.

tried the demo, F*CKING AMAZING! but broke so can't buy it yet :(

I just want to wait and see if ps+ will get a discount later. But yeah, this game feels more polished than most retail games. EA and the developer did well.

baught it, played it, still playing it, enjoyed it, still enjoying it.
i was hoping for a 10$ price tag but 15$ isnt much of a difference.
well worth the purchase.

Played the demo, loved it, so I bought the game hesitantly because I think 15 stones are to steep for this game and after beating multy and SP I can reaffirm. 3hrs long both SP and Multy.. Hint* If you get it play multy first.. You don't have to but I had company over so we played it first then I tackled sp and the story 'though short' tied in nicely.....

I love the way the game looks. But I'm one of the people that got bored quickly. It was only the demo, but if anything I should have been pumped to get the full game. After playing DeathSpank, Shank isn't quite worth $15 to me.

agreed, i thought it was so awesome. i will be buying this soon.

that most reviewers a are sell-outs! Many of the big sites gave this game a 7 or lower, but G4TV and many ACTUAL gamers (who comment) love the game!

I hope people learn never to go by the numbers these big named gaming sites dish out... I've always felt it's related to the advertising dollars/swag/exclusives they receive from the publishers.

I'm going to buy this game too!

Tried the demo, very enjoyable. I don't see it getting old within a three hour period. The combat and chaning moves in specific ways seemed to have a decent amount of depth, and most importantly it was very satisfying to just whack at people.

...but I don't like the style of game. I always preferred old school shoot-em-up over beat-em-up. It's also $25 on PSN in NZ. I may have been tempted it it were $15.
