Namco Backs Enslaved For Release Showdown With Medal of Honor

Namco Bandai plans to heavily market Team Ninja’s original IP, Enslaved: Odyssey to the West. Enslaved will need all the marketing help it can get when it arrives on shelves the same day as Medal of Honor.

It does seem a little that way. They could still change the date though, the tanto isn't that close to their abdomen... yet.

FarEastOrient5030d ago

OK what is it about companies sending their games out to die, don't they notice each others' schedules. It was like Yakuza 3 being released next to Bioshock 2 and Final Fantasy XIII!

Game-ur5030d ago (Edited 5030d ago )

Same thin with Resonance of Fate, it's always Japanese companies that make this mistake, and I think they just car about making quarterly results.

Persistantthug5031d ago

Medal of Honor looks more like

MEDAL OF DUTY: BAD COMPANY 2.

The more I look at it, the more uninteresting it looks.

I'm not saying Enslaved is gonna be good, but as of now, if I had to choose, I'd choose Enslaved....

Besides, I already bought BFBC2 on my PS3 and I'm good.

Traveler5031d ago

I agree with big_silky's comment below, the two games appeal to different tastes. Personally, Enslaved looks like a fresh experience. We don't get enough action adventure games and this one looks great. Enslaved has great graphics, a strong narrative, fantastic character models, and a nice variety of action gameplay and platforming. I'm getting it for sure.

big_silky5031d ago

For the most part these games appeal to totally different audiences. If I had to choose I certainly wouldn't waste $60 on MoH especially considering it'll be a ghost town when CoD comes out.

DanyBrown5031d ago

i know i am certainly nore interested in enslaved but thats just me

DNAgent5031d ago

But now that it's going up against MoH it's going to be even worse. I'd easily choose MoH over a Ninja Theory game. Heavenly Sword was ok but Sony should have a better company work on the sequel.

lastdual5031d ago (Edited 5031d ago )

Enslaved is not the sequel to Heavenly Sword (which sold well). It's a new IP, and I think the game is sufficiently different from MoH to set it apart.

If anything, Enslaved's closest competition this fall will be from Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood.

finbars755031d ago (Edited 5031d ago )

It should be the sequal to heavenly sword after seeing the girl in Enslaved.Looks and talks just like her.I cant lie and have to say that ninja theory can kiss my ass,Then whinned about Sony not marketing heavenly sword enough and just break even.Sony did market the game well, thats all I ever saw was the commercials ect.Maybe if they made a game longer then 4 hours they actually would have had some money coming in.I think The only thing Enslaved will be running up against is Quantum Theory not medal of honor. Two types of game and it really doesnt matter if they are coming out at the same time. You are going to like it ot hate it.

duplissi5031d ago

heavenly sword was more than "ok" it wasnt perfect but what it lacked are little things, and i wholly believe that if given the chance and backing ninja theory could pull off a mgs4/ME2/U2/RDR level sequel to hs, hell enslaved might be of that calibre.

now that MOH and Enslaved are going to release the same day it looks like ill have to pass on MOH for a while (im equally interested but MOH is another shooter and there are enough of those)

pork_chop_express5031d ago

Somehow somewhere ninja theory will blame heavenly sword.

LOL now u'll be crying good and hard.

Remembering Medal Of Honor: The Forgotten Master Of WW2 Games

Ibrahim from eXputer: "The Medal of Honor franchise was once the crown jewel of FPS war games, later defeated by the tides of time and poor development."

banger8839d ago

They tried to turn it into Call of Duty and it killed it off. They should reboot it and go back to it's roots. But they'd ruin it with online-only/multiplayer style bullshit so why bother? I have very fond memories of these games, but this series can stay dead as far as I'm concerned.

FPS_D3TH38d ago

Was literally just thinking of this game the other week with the secret nut cracker mission and the shooting Bismarck dog lmao. Loved these games as a kid

PrecursorOrb38d ago (Edited 38d ago )

I wish they’d remake warfighter

Strictly for the campaign

The_Hooligan38d ago

I have fond memories of playing the Medal of Honor Breakthrough MP Demo. It had two maps and custom servers. Living on campus, I had it downloaded on one of the PC Lab servers so I could access it on any computer at the university. Joined a clan and made friends that I still keep in touch with today.

You left out The Darkness games bring those back

fan_of_gaming49d ago

The head of Nightdive Studios has posted that The Darkness is on their list of games they want to do, so hopefully something comes from that

Yi-Long49d ago

Little Big Planet 1 and 2 deserve a mention, IMO.

Good call on Motorstorm, a game released 2 gens ago but still looks and feels so good. Motorstorm 2 and Motorstorm RC were gems as well. They followed up the Motorstorm games with the brilliant Driveclub, which still manages to put modern racing games to shame. Imagine closing down a studio as talented as that ... (!) Incredible.

A little 'arcade-gem' back then was The Last Guy, a top down 'follow the leader' snake-like game where you had to find and lead survivors to safety during an alien invasion, on terrible looking 'Google-earth' maps. Graphics were poor, even back then, but would love that same gameplay with modern maps and graphics.

Street Fighter 4, once it finally had a full roster, was quite good, but it was always an ugly game, sadly. Imagine bringing that back while using the current SF6 engine.

fan_of_gaming49d ago

Good suggestions, I'd be in for
LittleBigPlanet
LittleBigPlanet 2
Motorstorm: Pacific Rift
Motorstorm: RC

purple10149d ago

God damn I love motorstorm so much

At the time I had a low-mid range sony 40” tv, The latency to the controller was waaaay too high, would to play a modern version

In saying that later I got a 3d lg tv and playing the 3d motorstorm in my bedroom with the environment crumbling around the track, was something special, specially compared to what others were playing at the time, will always remember that

Skuletor49d ago

Some good choices here and Resistance: Fall of Man is my most wanted PS3 remaster/remake. Not sure about their claim it was Sony's answer to Gears of War though.

CrimsonWing6949d ago

I’d rather have sequels than remakes. Look at Dead Space 1 Remake. Would’ve been cooler if we got a new entry and it failed with sales sealing the fate of a sequel rather than just replay the same game and it fail in sales and we never get a new entry.

Remakes are great for things like PS2 and earlier games to really get a crazy new graphical coat, but I think we should ease up on all these remakes and actually do sequels.

fan_of_gaming49d ago

Yeah for sure, sequels would be ideal. But in the current market environment where many big publishers are risk-averse, I'd rather get a remaster or remake that a developer can do on a budget that will be approved, rather than nothing for an IP.

Inverno49d ago

I rather they remaster and port over to PC and current gen all the games permanently stuck on PS360. Those games don't need remakes, they need to be given a chance to live again outside of their confined consoles and then give a few proper sequels. Like Sleeping Dogs, Motor Storm, LA Noir, should get another entry.

fan_of_gaming49d ago

Yeah I'd be fine with remasters of PS3 games too, they don't have to be remakes.

The Medal of Honor Franchise Deserves a Comeback

Game Rant Writes "It's been over a decade since fans have seen the Medal of Honor franchise on consoles in any capacity, and it's about time EA brought it back."

Medal of Honor 2010 was a good start for a modern reboot. The campaign was fantastic. Multiplayer wasn't great but that's DICE's fault. I'd love if they went back to that game and gave it a proper sequel.

SlothLordPootus534d ago

I actually really liked the multiplayer in MoH 2010. Battlefield gunplay on small maps. I would love to see a Rising sun remake, the opening scene would be amazing to see.

SonyStyled534d ago

I enjoyed the multiplayer of MoH 2010. It felt like battlefield 3 in a way. The multiplayer in Warfighter was also pretty good but the campaigns single player story was not appealing with the whole family cutscene thing. Gameplay was fun though. MoH to me is the PS1/2 titles and I don’t expect to see a WW2 MoH after the last Call of Duty’s

Levii_92534d ago

PS1 MOH 1999 and 2000 (Underground) and Allied Assault PC is my childhood.. it's still soo good and it holds up. Not to mention Michael Giacchino's soundtrack is one of the best video game soundtracks ever made. Even if you weren't born in early to mid 90's go listen to the main theme of Allied Assault and you will be overloaded from nostalgia.

I miss this franchise a lot.

Iceball2000534d ago

I’ve always thought that MOH and Battlefield should be separate…

Have MOH as the full fledged single player with an amazing store and whatnot. And a basic multiplayer just to have multiplayer. Sorta like how the MOH reboot was.

And then have BF as the full fledged multiplayer with all effort put into that and ditch the single player. Maybe add Commander back in.

Only in a perfect world.

HeliosHex534d ago (Edited 534d ago )

Oh man medal of honor on pc was awesome back in the day. Multi-player was fun. Joined my first clan on medal of honor. Definitely deserves a comeback. But needs to be on the same level or surpass COD. Since it came out before that ip in 1999 to avoid embarrassment.

FGHFGHFGH534d ago

The guys who did Allied assault are the one who created call of duty. They're back at EA, Vince something

MadLad534d ago

I'll be the weird guy in the room and say I actually loved Warfighter. I thought the squad mechanics made it stand out a bit and thought the shooting felt good. Put a lot of time into the multiplayer.
