At the keynote off the developer-focused Gamefest 2007 in Seattle, Microsoft's Game Developer Group general manager Chris Satchell has focused on the three cores of Microsoft's gaming business: MSN, Xbox 360 and Games For Windows. Xbox Live is a huge part of converging all three, allowing him to reveal some notable XBL statistics in his opening presentation.
Satchell says there are currently more than 7.1 million Xbox Live users and, more surprisingly, those users have conducted more than 25 million downloads on Xbox 360.
Backward compatibility works for many games on newer consoles, but titles such as The Simpsons: Hit and Run have been left out.

The 25 Million is just XBLA games, their have been 45 million downloads on XBL. The Sony number is downloads of everything

I believe MS has a lot more than 25mil downloads.
EDIT: Ah, thanks Odion I knew that number seemed very low for total marketplace downloads.
Of course people with ps3s download a lot of things, they have no games to play.
