Continuing our week of Red Faction coverage: Volition released more info this week at GamesCom about another upcoming Red Faction title. Red Faction: Battlegrounds will be released as a downloadable title for Xbox Live Arcade as well as PSN. Battlegrounds takes the destruction capabilities of the GeoMod 2.0 engine seen in Red Faction: Guerrilla and puts it to use in a vehicular battle game. Using the settings and vehicles from Red Faction: Guerrilla, Battlegrounds creates a nice hectic arena style combat experience. There will be multiple game modes available, as well as achievements and unlockables for Red Faction: Armageddon. Not only can you destroy your opponents but also any structures, buildings, or anything else that gets in your way!
Today publisher Deep Silver took to X (formerly Twitter) to follow up on the announcement of the closure of Saints Row developer Volition.
Who knows...maybe we see a remastered SR2 after all and a new studio that makes good SR games again. Still..thanks a ton Volition for the excellent Punisher Video game
We will keep making money off of these by giving them to new teams with zero experience with them.
I'd love another Saints Row game but I can't see it happening after the response to the reboot.
I enjoyed the Saints Row reboot and i hope we see more titles in the franchise.
I'm very happy to know the SR and RF franchises won't die. RF was a revolutionly fps at the time and loved the 4 og SR games.
The developer of Saints Row is closing it doors this week.
Kind of sucks, but to be understood. I feel bad for the talent there who fall due to the decisions of the few and not because they aren't good at what they do.Hope those who deserve it land safely with other teams.
It was a shell since most of the original developers left years ago. They haven't made a good game in 10 years imo.
It still sucks though. R.I.P.
It's a shame for people to loose their jobs but these guys did make fun of gamers for pointing out how bad this looked rather than taking criticism on board.
What the hell were these guys thinking
They didn't just ruin their studio they literally tanked a franchise.
Online multiplayer is back for 11 more games thanks to Insignia's XBL 1.0 replacement service running on Original Xbox consoles and the Xemu emulator on PC. Multiplayer, voice chat, leaderboards, etc. have been a monthly addition for many games from Xbox's past library thank to the team at Insignia.live! The 11 new games are now playable online once again after 13+ years.
Booo!! I was hoping that was Rainbow Six: Black Arrow...Boo!! again. I thought this coming to Xbox. I don't even read it I was so excited.
Unexpected, but pretty damn cool. No doubt it will be 15 bucks though.
Doesn't really seem to explain a lot. Like what type of game modes it'll feature and whatnot. Kinda confusing. Like at one part in the trailer there were 3 mechs moving in unison towards a tank. It's unlikely the 3 mechs were players since they were moving in unison, so do units move in groups like that? are there RTS elements or something? kinda confusing.
Want more details, is what I'm saying.
They aren't revealing everything yet. I had an interview with Volition this week, they will be releasing more info on it though. It is mainly Mech/Vehicle combat. The buildings and pretty much everything else is destructible using the same GeoMod 2.0 engine that was used in Red Faction: Guerrilla.
