Haze Hype - Day 4: Halo 3 Screenshot Comparison

Now considering that a dozen other websites out there already have the newly released screenshots of Haze, Cinema Blend figured they would have a comparison between Halo 3 and Haze.

Just the money spent in advertisement for this game alone would have been enough to pay for the design of another game so it's definitively the 360 flagship. On the other side, if it's that good, I do think they would not have needed some much advertisement, and gamers would have took an extra game for free instead : )

I guess we now know where the 550 millions dollars Microsoft is collecting each year for the live service is going. Still so many weeks before release, and you can already see advertisement popping out everywhere. I always thought it was a game that was selling by itself, but I guess not : )

i don't know how some of you guys can say haze graphics are better.

Haze art style - lacking, nothing sets it apart, very boring.
Haze lighting - inferior
Haze uniqueness - No where
Haze character models - helmets look alright (even though bright yellow isn't ideal for camouflage, but everything looks else looks like crap.
Haze textures - pretty dull, and it shows in the last pic
Haze Environments - Not gonna fuly judge this one yet

From those screens, to me, and others who can actualy see properly, should know and be able to admit that the Halo 3 screens look nicer graphicaly, smoother and ar just sexier.

I would pick Haze as the better looking because Halo 3 is just easier to make it look realistic. Humans are the more complete to make it look exactly like RL. I myself don't like Halo, played the Halo 2 on my XB and Halo 1 on my PC and this is a double no for me... In fact, I don't like most Alien/Monster Shooters (I just don't buy the hystory) and always have put far more value on single player, so it's what could make Halo worse for me.

Besides, I liked the idea of a future super pharmaceutic corporation which have it's own army and the fight with rebels and all... Good theme, let's see if the narrative at all turn into a good game. It's in my list, but not that high and can be replaced anytime if a better game comes.

But, besides my personal taste, I have to agree with princetab about developers and wallets.

KZ wasn't that bad of a game, but it ws nothing compared to Halo. i think halo 3 looks better, looks more unique. you can take that for what it's worth. and since haze will be coming to the 360 at some point, you can consider this a critique between two 360 games. i'm not intentionally bashing the ps3. to me the armor in haze looks kinda silly, i don't really care for the chiseled chest and abs look. and people talking about halo 3's cartoony colors? look at that yellow wrap over haze helmet! i think halo 3's armor permutations are much cooler. and to me, i feel kinda ho hum about the fiction of haze- another dystopian (sp) urban future, a mega corporation entangled with the government, militant mercenaries for hire, etc. but then again, halo could be considered derivative- alien invasion, etc. it's all in personal preferences.

halo 3 looks the better of the two. i like how the lighting on the mongoose has the engine area dark from a shadow, and the shadows are black; haze's is as bright as the rest of the vehicle and gray shadows, halo looks sharper overall

Proof will be in the pudding. Some games looks good and plays.. well... not so good. Some games look very simple put keeps you entertained for hours...

The only way to know is to play both and see which one is the better one to play. But graphics wise they seem pretty much the same to me.

I have the PS3 so I will most likely pick up Haze... but then... yet another futuristic FPS. I liked the original KZ however. Played it again - actually busy with it - on the PS3. I would most probably wait for the PS3 KZ rather than get Haze... but who knows...

I think you have to see the games in action and I think Gameplay and art style will be what really matters.

But from those screen shots, Haze clearly looks sharper. Halo 3 screen shots look a bit blurry. Not even sure if it's an accurate comparison. But from those screen shots. Haze looks much sharper, I don't see how anyone could deny that.

I would have to say that Halo 3 looks better. Halo's screenshots have a lot more variation in color and more detailed characters. The lighting also looks better for Halo 3. Notice in the bottom comparison where the guy from Haze is firing his weapon and then at the top where the Master Chief is firing his. The muzzle flash really shows on Master Chiefs armor (glowing yellow in the front) but it seems to have not affected the character from Haze in the bottom pic, only his environment (the wall). In comparing the two vehicles, it would also seem to me that Halo 3 is better again. The wheels for the ATV in Halo are very detailed while the ones for Haze look very plain.

I also think the person from Haze looks really strange in that first pic, mainly the arm. He seems to have a lack of detail.

Overall, I think (therefore, my opinion) Halo 3 looks better. However, both games aren't finished so it may be a little early to judge.

The most obvious difference is that Haze looks 10 times sharper and crisper than Halo 3. I even wonder if those are fair screen shots, they look kinda blurry for Halo 3.

i played the halo 3 beta its not much different from past halos... some new grenades, and guns, slightly better graphics thats like it

so here are some things that HALO 3 DOESNT HAVE (that Haze does):

I'd give Halo the edge, I'm sure the kids will enjoy it. Haze looks aimed more towards the adults. I doubt you'd see pink guns in Haze. The story is also deeper with Haze, not just hero fights aliens (obviously I'm summarizing). There are a few gameplay elements that surpass the competitor between the two, there really is no stand out leader when all things are considered, but Halo gets the edge.

Seeing as Halo is the one game that is initially connected when you think x-box, I'm a bit disappointed. Can anyone honestly say that Gears of War, Call of Duty, Unreal Tournament, Bioshock, Metal Gear Solid, or Killzone aren't better than this game? I can't. Maybe it is a case of X-Box finally having a competitor for Halo on their platform, but this game doesn't seem next generation. Remember when Halo 2 came out and everyone thought it was Halo 1.2? Well I get the same vibe hear. Milking one good game into two mediocre predecessors.

A) Fruity colors. I swore i saw an elite wearing yellow, not gold. The red is nice but the blue looks like trash and so does the brown. WArfare is gritty and what you xtrolls call pissy colors is better than florecent purple aliens. It just cant be taken seriously. The level concepts are nice but in the end, even the multiplayer levels are redundent. STELLAR
B) Concrete. HALO has always have those stupid concrete levels, an xbots know, look at all those screens, concrete. Even the F*cking alien levels were concrete. If you say otherwise you are in denial
C) Gameplay. Its so stellar. It wants to be a run n' gunner but they try to make tactical. Its not inivative at all
D) Multiplayer is fun for 20 minutes then turns into a simple stellar concept

E) Graphics. These screens prove xbox's imperfections with graphics. Xbots are in the dillusion that xbox has better ports (which is bullsh*t), why you ask. Simple. Tehe HAzE effect. Xbox games graphics arent good, they just have that stupid haze effect which ps3 doesnt and results in better textures. And look at that brute and all the other aliens. Their features are glued together. Plus sometimes the metal looks really dull
F) Those screens prove everything i have said. Look at POG's gallery. The 2nd pick proves that the warthog aint got sh*t on that Buggy in Haze.
G) Features. HAze has so many user friendly features like stealing weapons and rolling

"Carefully chosen shots" do not make that amount of detail magiclly appear on tree's and rocks nor does it create the bush on the ground that is suppose to be fully interactive with everything having its own physics.

remember all Halo's enviroments have their set physics, things blowing in the wind, bushes and shrubs being brushed over by charactor movment and things being destroyed by weapons. Although Halo 3 looks better its emersiveness is still light years beyond Haze amoung other things.

I have come to the realization that in the mind of sony kids that any game made looks grey and lacks color like the 2 fps games they are waiting on automatically are the best fps in the world, have the best graphics, and superior gameplay that always seems to beat halo series but never ever prove it in sales. Halo 3 looks better. Though gameplay wise we know nothing of Haze and Halo will play like all other previous halos.

Also people who say Halo online is the best/great never played real online. BF has better online. UT is king of frag feast. CS is just a classic. There are games with focused online play only which play better online then Halo.

I really don't care which one is better. I hope Haze is great. I know halo will be. But as far as which one is better, it doesn't matter to me because I will have both on the 360. On the other hand, Halo will NEVER come to the ps3.

Also, I think that most of the timed exclusives for the PS3 are also because they don't want to compete with halo. The developers will sell allot more if they release these timed exclusives later. Furthermore, If they released them for both systems (haze and unreal 3) everyone would see that the 360 versions look better, thus further hurting their ps3 game sales. Just a guess. Well it's odd now that I look at the screens how very similar they look, rendering/lighting is tad better on Haze while the textures look a tad better on Halo 3.

But it is still surprising how similar they look visually.

What I do know though is that the giant golden bird armor thing standing next to the main character has got to be the baddest mother F@!ker I have seen. He might be able to take on the other three characters in the picture with him in hand to hand and clean house.

What is with all these "Haze is a Halo ripoff" comments. Halo was not the first FPS to use vehicles, halo was not the first FPS that is based on a scifi setting. Halo never did anything NEW to begin with. It's a good game and by looking at those pictures, it looks like Halo looks better (not by alot, but still better). You fanboys are really dumb.

They look nothing alike beside the fact some of the style was copied from halo the graphics are nothing like eachother. Haze has a Tomb Raider flesh tone to it with the a mud dirt grit with Xbox lighting and texture while Halo 3 has the traditional vibrance with GoW texture and detail.

If the 1st and 3rd pic was full which they are not which is understandable when trying to trick people due to Halo 3 looking better. The 2nd Halo 3 pic is from an old slapped together Multi player Beta. lol

Haze has the challenge of pulling off the some of the slick melee moves that it has been advertising and balancing it's unique hand-to-knife gameplay in multiplayer.

It's quality, popularity, appeal, and Legendary Legacy cannot be dissipated or Denied by any amount of dogma, hyperbole, or fanboyish rhetoric on this or any other site.

And I expect that Radical will also deliver a fine product when the game releases.

But its unrealistic to think Radical will be able to match the features of Halo3 without investing a considerable amount of time.

with that being the case I don't expect Haze to dissappoint. ( I hope it turns out better than Far Cry, Mace Griffin, or the competent Future Perfect)

I'm a PlayStation fan, but Halo is most definetly the best FPS I have ever played.

Half Life 2 is amazing, Doom 3 is great. Hell, I still love Duke Nukem 3D.

But Halo is very very fun. The controls are perfect, the vehicles are awesome, the weapons look great. The enemies are cool (although I think it's lame they speak English in Halo 2.)

It's the one and only reason I would buy a 360. And it's a damn good reason.

Maybe the graphics for Halo 3 aren't the best around, but so what?

And why the hell is everyone complaining about the gameplay looking so similar to the previous games? The gameplay in Halo was flawless. Halo 2, was not quite as good, but everyone complained so much that now Bungie is doing everything they can to make it as much like the original Halo as possible.

Halo 3 looks awesome, and I will definetly play it.

ps.- Haze looks kinda stupid. Not the graphics, but the art direction and gameplay look just so-so.
