Before the Wii came along, we had to leave old consoles within reach, just in case we got a hankering for some retro games. Nintendo changed that with Virtual Console, which contains hundreds of classic titles from multiple systems, including the Super Nintendo. That 16-bit machine dominated our lives, as we crowded around the TV screen to play Street Fighter II, Super Metroid and countless other hits. Now they’re a download away, and we don’t even have to blow in the cartridges to make them work.
Virtual Console plays host to numerous SNES games, but these ten are without question the best.

Super Metroid was a monumental triumph of interactive art, a game that achieved new heights in presentation, level design, and pacing, and despite a few flaws, manages to hold up astoundingly well to this day.
"30 years after its launch, however, Super Metroid for the SNES remains the undisputed king of the franchise in terms of its atmosphere and tone. " - Ollie Reynolds | NintendoLife
Fusion did a great job at it. Really love that horror feel with metroid. I mean you are completely alone on alien planets filled with horrific monsters and toxic environments.
The 2024 Game Anniversaries include some major titles including Half-Life 2, Uncharted 2, and Minecraft.
Ah...most of my favorite SNES games all in one place. Would have loved to see final fight on there, but it''s not a top 10 game.
Sure, F-Zero was great. I loved the GameCube one...it was crazy...racing around the roulette wheel. Had a blast.
Agree on Super Metroid. Game's the bomb.
Was never much of an RPG guy....more into platform games like Mario. BUT, Super Mario RPG was the lone exception.
