Be warned of spoilers, all ye who enter.
To me a good surprise is something that isn’t a simple non-sequitor; it’s something that fits with the lore and feels right. It could be something that has been hinted at or foreshadowed, but not too much, because it’s not a surprise if you saw it coming.
The tiny green slasher villain returns in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, and is as frightening as ever.
The way it was handled was so dumb. One shots in melee...your teammates are to ostupid to get away from its attack. So you most often end up alone in a certain fight.

Huzaifa from eXputer: "2008 was home to the likes of Call of Duty: World at War, Dead Space, GTA 4, Far Cry 2, Left 4 Dead, and many other hits, which is outright remarkable."
Just about every year in the 7th generation was great and something we most likely won't experience again.
2009 for example had Assassin's Creed 2, Batman: Arkham Asylum, Dragon Age: Origins, Uncharted 2, Halo 3: ODST, Killzone 2, Borderlands, Bayonetta, and Demon's Souls to name a few.
I would add Gears 2 to that list. Dom " mercy " killing his wife shocked me...

Also Tai's suicide left me numb...again ***SPOILERS***

Those two scene's stayed with me long after they happened. I really enjoyed Gears 2 BUT I did not agree with the way they handled Tai's and Maria's deaths. Why couldn't Tai or Maria die a hero???
They also killed Carmine but that seems to be a theme with Carmine.

His brother was sniped in the first game.

Now there is a 3rd Carmine in Gears 3. No doubt they will kill him off, which of course would be wrong. I'm in the Saving private Carmine camp...lol.
Also, Gears 1 had Kim's death scene...

MGS1: It turns out in the end that Ocelot has been working as a double-agent under Liquid and the President who--get this--is actually a third clone of Big Boss. There you go, it should have been in there, even if it is for a different reasons than the others.
But there is one reason why it would have worked for the article's listing: Liquid was attempting to turn Shadow Moses island into a new Outer Heaven, in order to "one-up" Big Boss, and claim the title of Big Boss for himself. BB was fighting against Zero and The Patriots, and so was Liquid, although unknowingly. (Liquid was unaware of the existence of The Patriots) Therefore, Snake was on the wrong side.
But in MGS4, we don't really find out that Snake is on the wrong side in a twist, it's the whole point from the beginning. Snake is "hired" by Campbell to take down Liquid and prevent him from taking over the world. In order to do this, Snake must protect The Patriots' AI. It's not really a twist, just a point of irony.
This is just going to turn into one list of spoilers isn't it!
