Rage Finally Has A Date

id Software's next big shooter, Rage, built on its next big engine, id Tech 5, now has a ship date. Get ready to wait a little longer for Rage, for it won't be out until September 2011.

The PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 game will ship in U.S. on September 13, 2011. Europe will get it just two days later on September 15, 2011.

That's more than a year away.

frankymv5024d ago

Too long for this game.

New consoles will be right around the corner when this game hits. Not sure if I will be interested then....

Coffin875024d ago

New consoles will be right around the corner?!?!
Yeah, maybe a new rushed XBox, but for sure no new PlayStation that will be as revolutionary as the PS2 was and as the PS3 currently is.
That will take at THE VERY LEAST 2-3 more years.

rdgneoz35023d ago

@Coffin7 Yep, it'll be at least 2 more years for a new PS console. Hell, they just started getting into 3D for PS3 games coming out and they're releasing Move. They're not gonna have Move out for only a year before pushing a new console out. Hell, with the graphics they're getting and the capacity of blue ray disks, they got a while to go before the PS3 reaches its limits. For xbox, they'll probably try to get it out before Sony or Nintendo, and push it out in a year and a half at the least.

As for the game, sad that it'll be over a year till it releases seeing as they've been saying it'll run at 60 fps on all 3 systems and that it'll look beautiful on them as well.

Coffin875022d ago

thx lol. a lot of people here don't seem to get my point.
ps2's games and graphics kept evolving for 8 years (basically the same with ps1). ps2's first games looked like directx6 stuff, just look how mgs3 looked like.
the same will be with ps3. it will keep evolving graphically and gameplay-wise for the next, at least, 3 years.

everyone thinking differently must be kind of ignorant / too young to have witnessed ps2's or ps1's history.

I was thinking it would come out early next year. I wonder if we will have to wait longer to see doom 4 now.

JsonHenry5024d ago

I will buy this game when it ships for PC. But I gotta say by the time it gets here it might not look so top of the line anymore because of other games coming out between now and then.

People actually disagreed with this comment?

SeanRL5023d ago

lol, they just disagreed with a fact....

pixelsword5023d ago (Edited 5023d ago )

for the US:

Month: September

Year: '11

Day: 13th

For Germany/Europe:

Month: September

Year: '11

Day: 15th

Commission & Drug Companies Discuss Strategies to Counter Biological Threats in Europe 11/15/2001 in Europe in a meeting pre-arranged (before 9/11 happened)

Hmmm...

Just a little weird, not saying it's some conspiracy; but if you do think it's something funny about that, look up history and dates around September: you'd be just a little interested after a while.

Oh well. I'm sure its going to be amazing. Quality takes time.

more like they went form EA to Bethesda

kaos_fish II5024d ago

Yeah but Blizzard wrote and published Diablo 2 and an expansion, WarCraft 3 and expansion and World of WarCraft and all of it's expansions in that time frame.. exactly what has Id released since Doom 3?

number475024d ago (Edited 5024d ago )

Enemy Territory?

Not sure if that was iD...

I don't know, I feel like iD is going to pull a fast one. Won't even consider buying if theres no demo.

lastdual5024d ago

Enemy Territory was made by Splash Damage - same folks who are now making Brink.

raztad5024d ago (Edited 5024d ago )

Quake 4, Enemy territory: Quake Wars or something like that. Working in ET:QW Carmack started the development of MEGATEXTURES tech, which is being used in RAGE nowadays.

RAGE itself has a long time in development, was announced in 2007. Besides Rage, ID has been working in little iphone projects and Quake Live. Sounds a lot like Carmack is just having fun with the tech, and doesnt care about making money.

Anyways, that MEGATEXTURE tech is incredible. Just look how well it looks/runs on the xbox. Carmack has spent all this time optimizing it. It seems to be paying off.

Yeah yeah great great . . . How bout some DooM 4!?!?

kaos_fish II5024d ago

It's ridiculous IMO - more than year away and yet the mags and websites are hyping this NOW.. who's to say what'll come along in a year from now and push Rage to the background.

Cold 20005024d ago

Yeah and they got a year to delay it again..

I don't understand the hate Doom 3 got, but the original has to be tops for me too.
