The Xbox 360 Slim rejects more heat than older models

Released last July 16, Xbox 360 250GB should not obscure the very glorious reputation of these early models: noise blower permanent overheating, high failure rate dramatically. If, to take small settings, Microsoft has improved the reliability of his machine and sets out after February 2008, was not gone that far in rethinking this new model. Measures to support, there are real differences: electricity consumption, in particular, a decrease of 15 W in the game (compared to our comparative model, an Xbox 360 Premium made in March 2009), a very good news for big players. But others are more surprising.

Where is Lauren,Valkyrie83 and UltimaEnder?

DMason5013d ago (Edited 5013d ago )

Wow, this whole title is misleading and not even the original title. The real title to this story is "The Xbox 360 Slim rejects more heat than older models"

And to those who are going to start in with the "teh Xboxerz is overheatzing", this is a direct quote from the article:

"Already a sign of malfunction? Not quite, because it does not confuse this release external effect of ventilation with internal heat, the main source of failure. The Xbox has a new ventilation system different: the radiator fan is closer, and the temperature is measured at the output thereof. So a higher temperature does not necessarily mean that the console heats up inside, it can also demonstrate that the dissipation is more efficient because the extraction is more direct."

Notice how it says that the heat dissipation is more efficient. Any chance this site gets to dog on the Xbox, it does. Even if it means spinning and rearranging.

UnSelf5013d ago

and "released last July 16th"

it came out in 09?

8800gtx5013d ago

Its a closed platform, careful what you do with it. Just might end up getting banned on live for modding it.

Kurt Russell5013d ago

You're right 8800gtx - instead I shall go give my PC a blowjob and try and fuck the motherboard.... neeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeerd.

Mmmkay5012d ago

so what you're saying is that it acts even more like an oven than before....?

SaberEdge5012d ago

No, it is saying that it has a better design that gets rid of the internal heat and gets it out of the system---which is a good thing.

ARBitrator5012d ago

NPD numbers must have released today. I wonder how the slims did versus one another.

The negative 360 news & comments must mean the PS3 got doubled up...lol

NewZealander5013d ago

misleading article, theres been numerous articles that show internal heat temperature is lower, the console is simply doing a better job to expel internal heat through the vents.

seriously how does this weak attempt at news get approved?

DMason5013d ago

Agreed. If you look at actual site, it's just a Wordpress blog with random conspiracy theories that are poorly written.

How are sites like this getting approved? I thought the new N4G was supposed to deter sites like this?

gamingdroid5013d ago (Edited 5013d ago )

Yeah, the article is so poorly written I actually didn't quite understand what it was saying. Go figure!

Is the article written by a 5th grader?

JasonPC360PS3Wii5013d ago

"Unexpected result: the Xbox 360 Slim … reached 54 ° C at the ventilation outlet, almost 12 ° C higher than the early models! Already a sign of malfunction? Not quite, because it does not confuse this release external effect of ventilation with internal heat, the main source of failure. The Xbox has a new ventilation system different: the radiator fan is closer, and the temperature is measured at the output thereof. So a higher temperature does not necessarily mean that the console heats up inside, it can also demonstrate that the dissipation is more efficient because the extraction is more direct. A more reassuring sign about its reliability, even if the 54 ° C in the console output are also very real and very noticeable. The internal temperature and especially its movement, they can not be measured without opening the console and alter its system of dissipation. When in doubt, it is better to avoid leaving it in a confined space"

comp_ali5013d ago

what's funny here is PS3 fans posting bad news about X360 and vice versa.

XactGamer5013d ago

The person who contributed this should have their privileges taken away. The title should read "The Xbox 360 Slim rejects more heat than older models" so he violated the terms he agreed to follow.

SKUD5012d ago (Edited 5012d ago )

The website sucks. Miller time.

129 Degrees F? Looks like you can cook on that, forget the PS3 triple looking like George Foreman grill, 360 Slim is actually a grill!

EcliPS35013d ago (Edited 5013d ago )

Why is the title of this article completely contradictory to the actual story and actual title? The things people will do sometimes make me ill. Nothing like a good ol' fashion "falsifying information for hits" campaign.

NY_Pride5012d ago (Edited 5012d ago )

@EcliPS3

"So a higher temperature does not necessarily mean that the console heats up inside."

Does this make sense to anyone else here? So the hot air that's coming out the vents is hotter than the internal temperature of the console? That's just the dumbest thing I've read in awhile. What a fuckin' moron.

Cyrus365 was right in changing the title of the story the author is twisting the facts.

ARBitrator5012d ago

To be honest with you, I have the slim 360 and the original PS3 and my PS3 is actually hotter at the rear exhaust ports than the 360 slim.

commodore645013d ago

Cyrus is blatantly trolling and spreading untruths with his comment.

Not only that, but he submitted this story and changed the headline to make it into a false flamebait title.

Mods, we need to stop trolls like cyrus365.
Especially when they abuse the submission system like that.

A ban, maybe?

TheBand1t5013d ago

It's like a saltwater crocodile complaining that a tiger shark is a vicious man eater

Scotland-The-Brave5013d ago

"Mods, we need to stop trolls like cyrus365". LOL what a HYPOCRITE

Motorola5012d ago

yeah commodore, everytime u post a troll comment, we dont need to call teh mods../s fuck off troll

bustamove5012d ago

Because you're not a troll yourself.

SaberEdge5012d ago

Commodore64 isn't any more of a troll than any of you guys. He's right in this case anyway.

Theonik5013d ago

You could cook an egg on the heatsink of an old 360. Here i even have a video:
http://www.youtube.com/watc...
That video is also older than the PS3 foreman grill mod. (2006 Vs 2008)

@commondore: I agree that stupid articles like that shouldn't be approved but when articles like that are approved for the PS3 you don't seem to complain...

NY_Pride5012d ago (Edited 5012d ago )

Theonik lol thank you for the vid.

@omi25p

It does get warm yes but not to the point where it burns your had. Here's a tip after you finish playing leave the PS3 on for an hour or so, so it can cool off. make sure you have the PS3 on a hard surface where air can circulate well and not on something like carpet.

if it's getting to the point where it burns your hand then you need to move it from that location.

SHOGUN 36o5012d ago

Your comment and so full of fail. Did you even read this article you submitted. It actually praises the performance of the 360s for expelling heat... not containing it like older 360 models. Translation: A GOOD THING, NOT BAD. READING is FUNdamental and so is comprehension.

tigertom535012d ago

Well just about any cpu on the market u can cook on that why u have cpu cooler to dissipate the heat.. The vent from the slim box is right over the heat source and the reason for the higher temps.. =p)

omi25p5013d ago

360 runs hot but so does my slim, i actually burned my hand on it after i played it for a few hours

EXID5013d ago

i call bs on that. i've had my ps3 slim going for almost 9 hours straight on more than one occasion, and it got hot, but not to the point where i could actually burn myself.

TheBand1t5013d ago

I touched the HDMI connecter in the back and it did burn slightly, but, yea.

omi25p5012d ago

it isnt bs it wasnt a bad burn but it was enough to sting for a few hours.

scofios5013d ago

Just imagine if the power supply was built in like the ps3.
You would get a nice firework explosion the second you turned it on  .

''The Xbox has a new ventilation system different: the radiator fan is closer, and the temperature is measured at the output thereof. Incase some PS3 guys were about to Troll. Lames.

MariaHelFutura5013d ago

MS does have problems w/ console production.......

BTW, your trolling more than anyone in here right now. People are just making jokes about the 360 (which isn`t hard to do). It has burned down a few homes and taught kids new things you can achieve w/ a wet towel.

Count5013d ago (Edited 5013d ago )

If they're jokes then they're jokes that got old ages ago.

Not just that, but I'm sure that if I made one of these ''jokes'' about the Ps3, people would be rushing at me with pitch forks.

SaberEdge5012d ago

I know. F-en hypocrites. They think they can talk sh*t about the 360 as much as they want and call it "making jokes", but the slightest bit of criticism of the PS3 causes them to get all up in arms.

hazelamy5013d ago

i have to say though, some people were using the fact the ps3 puts out more heat as evidence that it runs hotter, no doubt those same people will use the same thing with the 360 to say the new 360s runs cooler.
doesn't matter which side the person is on they'll twist things to support their biased views.
all i have to say is it's good they're improving the design of the cooling system in the xbox.
what is that smaller white box next to the 360 in the article though? it's not a 360s, maybe they tested whatever that was, it doesn't seem like a very well written article so they could have made that mistake. :)

When is the last time Sony release any limited edition PS3 consoles? I don't mean bundle but custom designed consoles. I think the Gunmetal MGS4 console was it, as I recalled.
