Nintendo president Satoru Iwata is one inquisitive executive. Just posted on Nintendo's Wii website is his latest question-and-answer series where he pulls in key team members to talk about Nintendo's most recent projects. This week's "Iwata Asks" is all about Metroid: Other M where he chats with Nintendo producer Yoshio Sakamoto, Team Ninja project lead Yosuke Hayashi, and D-Rockets Executive Director Ryuzi Kitaura.
With Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty coming soon, it's time to look back at the developer's greatest triumphs...and one oddball favorite.
Former Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime reflects on Metroid: Other M and his initial high hopes for the game.
Yeah we all loved how you took a stoic badass and turned her into a whiny shrew. All those writers should be sacked.
VGChartz's Paul Broussard: "The early-mid 2000s saw something of a golden age for Metroid games. After an eight year hiatus, Metroid burst back onto the scene in dramatic fashion. Largely buoyed by the critical and financial success of Metroid Prime (at least, relative to other Metroid releases), Metroid saw a whopping six new titles between 2002 and 2007, as well as one rather bizarre pinball spin-off that wound up being much better than it had any right to be. Metroid had never been this popular before."
Never though the day would come where I say this but I’d be fine with having every 2D Metroid remade the way Dread plays.
... but although they speak about carefully selecting the voice-actress for the game, I fear we in the west will just get stuck with a less impressive dub-actress.
When you go on youtube and compare the two voices for the intro (japanese and english), the english voice isn't 'bad', but it certainly isn't as good as the japanese voice of Samus. It just has more 'feeling' and feels 'right', unlike the english one, which just feels like an actress reading a script. Convincingly, yes, but still without feeling and a sense of connection to the actual character.
It's 2010. I wish games would just include at least the option to choose the original language plus subs.
Anybody remember Kemeco on the 360? It's what I think a full 3D Metroid should be.
I'm not complaining about this one, it's on the top of my list, but I was thinking "what if".
