Stop It: Selfish Gamers

Gather around gamers. Yes, I am especially looking at you whores of all kinds – selfish gamers if you prefer the more socially acceptable term. Pick your poison: achievements, trophies, points, kills? What will it be?

Whatever your choice is, I am sure it makes you feel uber leet. Multiplayer games are both collaborative and competitive, and the former is being ruined by the likes of you. All so your epeen can be slowly stroked. Stop it!

''Have you been exposed to such gamers?''

Have you been outside of your house?

DasBunker5023d ago

everybody is selfish.. its just that some hide it better than others..

Count5023d ago

Don't confuse yourself with everybody.

DasBunker5023d ago

of course not dear hypocrite

Megaman42xX5023d ago

Uhh if you want to get technical everyone is selfish. Even if you do a kind deed with no real gain for yourself, you still did that initial act for yourself. Whether it was for an amount of self appreciation, public recognition, or whatever. Basically we do things because we want to.

Shadow Flare5023d ago (Edited 5023d ago )

I'm actually with anomen on this one. Yeah, I think we all have varying degrees of selfishness, but you act like every single person on this planet shows no love for anyone anywhere. If you really loved someone, they come first in your life. You'd die for them. How is that selfish? There are many instances of people who have risked their lives to save other people from disasters. How is that selfish? I'd love you to go back to September 11th and say to a fireman's face, "you're a really selfish person for saving all those people and putting your life on the line". Don't label 7 billion people on this planet under 1 label

If you're trying to say everyone has varying degrees of selfishness about them, fine I can accept that. But you can say that about anything. Everybody has varying degrees of evilness inside them. Does that make everyone evil? No. So it's completely wrong of you to group everyone as selfish.

Megaman42xX5023d ago

1) lolz at an actual discussion/debate

2) To my understanding an act of selfishness is meant to be in your own best interest, it doesn't matter if your best interest is in helping or hurting people.

http://dictionary.reference...

3) I'm in no way saying that everyone is acting with an ulterior motive to deceive, if it sounded that way, my bad. I do believe that people can act with good intentions without any hope of reward.

Darkstorn5023d ago (Edited 5023d ago )

Selfishness has a negative connotation in many cultures, but there is a uniquely American attraction to rugged individualism, which is a uniquely American romanticism. Selfishness is taken for granted in the United States, which is the major reason why Americans have an aversion to the welfare state and to government 'overreach.'

Attribute it to John Locke, but whichever side of the political aisle you stand on, I think we can all agree that Europeans or Asians are more attracted to empathic worldviews than Americans. And I think that philosophy affects our video games as well.

That being said, I don't consider myself a strong individualist. I'm more of a communitarian myself; perhaps that's why I prefer playing as a medic or a tactician in Killzone 2 :P

I'm totally a selfish gamer. When playing BFBC2, I'm the guy who neglecting the MCOMs and just going for helicopter kills...

itsralf5023d ago

Hope your being sarcastic. If not, pls don't play anymore. I hate the likes of you.

jeeves865023d ago

I have to agree here, people on your team that don't contribute to the team and actually bring its downfall really piss you off. But what can you do?

Also, although it's a rather large pipe dream of mine, I'd like to see all of your gamer-score, trophies, and whatever Nintendo comes up with and whatever Steam has all into one overall score. Somehow I don't think that would sit well with everyone though...whatever.

The Argument for Battlefield: Bad Company Remakes

With the franchise’s mainline entries failing to find their footing in recent years, now is the perfect time for a Battlefield: Bad Company remake.

Of course there is no counter argument. This is what fans of the franchise have wanted for years. This and/or BF Bad Company 2.

When asked why there hasn't been another Bad Company:

“There's one thing that lingers with Bad Company that we've been asking ourselves: What is it that the people really liked about Bad Company?" DICE general manager Karl Magnus Troedsson told Eurogamer.

Troedsson says that he and his team can’t put their fingers on what it is that people loved about that branch of the brand. “It's hard for people to articulate what that is, which is actually hard for us,” he says. “It would be hard to remake something like that. Can we do it? Of course. We have our theories when it comes to the multiplayer."

I always activate the Black Weapon on BFV Solomon Islands for all the BC2 fans who hear/recognize it, thus starting the events of BC2 on BF5 :)

What is so hard to understand for them?

Bad Company 2 is one of the best and most memorable games in the series because:
- It was class-based (duh)
- Heavy focus on squads
- Substance over map size or gimmicks
- Fantastic and realistic gun play
- Well designed maps
- Destructible environments (why has this been minimised so hard in the series? You could demolish buildings in bad company 2 with some well placed C4
- Great progression system and variety in play
- No stupid CoD imitations or focus on the store over the game
- It was *drumroll* incredibly good fun?
- It was unmistakably BATTLEFIELD

Probably should add a fun campaign to the list.
