Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World: The Game Review (RunDLC)

Every guy has dated or at least known a woman he would fight for. In Scott Pilgrim’s case, that lady is Ramona Flowers, a cutie with baggage in the form of seven evil ex boyfriends. To win her heart, Scott must defeat each of these scumbags by any means necessary. It’s a fun concept that launched a graphic novel, blockbuster film (opening this Friday) and finally, a video game, Lucky for us, Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World avoids to usual traps associated with movie-based games, thanks to Ubisoft’s decision to focus more on the gameplay, less on the film.

I want this game...gonna see the movie too.

Buff10445014d ago

Yeah it's a Scott Pilgrim weekend for me. My girlfriend is going out with her girls all day, so I am definitely seeing the movie and playing this game.

trounbyfire5014d ago

it just felt like a never ending level and combat as not what deep enough.

Buff10445014d ago

That level is crazy long....but it's just another example of how this game was designed with MP in mind, as opposed to SP.

wollie5014d ago

level up the combat gets super deep

lolzers5014d ago

I might have to get this, I used to love playing those 4 player beat-em-ups in the arcades. Only other games I play with more than one person tend to be music orientated, there's not enough games with local co-op really.

Miraak82 5014d ago

the movie was soooooo Badass, I had early viewing a week ago... played the demo , liked it for the most part but as a 27 year old I wish their was online multiplayer as I'm not gonna invite people over to play co op w/ me seeing as ppl my age have wives , children , jobs , and responsibilities and it seems corny as hell ." Yeah guys , wanna come play Scott Pilgrim w/ me,, it'll be rad to the max bro " its not like I have friends to come over after school to hang and play games w/ a night dammit.. I just wish developers would put that into consideration when making co op nowadays,,, and I don't have 4 controllers

asyouburn5014d ago

it has online co-op, 4 players i think. correct me if im wrong

wollie5014d ago

me and my wife play last night. it was freaking awesome! but ya online co-op would be nice.

swishersweets200315014d ago

i know exactly how you feel being the same age. It does need online co op

asyouburn5014d ago

to river city with trophies, so, im in!

The 10 Best Comic Book Video Games of All Time

From Xfire: "You'd think that there would be more good comic book video games (outside of the obvious superhero ones) released over the years, but the truth is, they are quite rare. Thankfully, a growing number of studios are tapping into this valuable resource to bring audiences the best comic book video games."

This Doesn’t Redeem You, Ubisoft

Re-releasing Scott Pilgrim vs The World doesn't fix things quite that easily.

"But because of some absolute scumbags at the top, I can’t in good conscience even think about giving this company a dollar at the moment. It would be like if Konami suddenly announced that PT and Silent Hills was coming back that would be great, but you also have to wonder what made them changed their mind."

You really did not have much to go on, but that just exposed how out of touch, fan news driven and un-industry you are. I get that you think that your heros can do no wrong and all, but get back to gaming kiddo. Squeak on.

Meanwhile, they are looking for contributors to deliver more of this. :/

Should they just stop producing anything until people suddenly forgive them?

I had this on PS3. Absolutely a treasure and all the homages to retro gaming was brilliantly executed. If you want a beat ‘em up that feels a bit like Shovel Knight in its retro love and a River City Rampage RPG, this is for you.

Its a rarity when a Movie and its game land so well. Enjoyed both of these immensely

darthv721330d ago

I never saw the movie or played the game. I feel so left out but Im glad this is coming back so I can finally play it. I've heard nothing but good things about it. I still need to see the movie though.

The Wood1330d ago

You should definitely watch the movie. Fun film

Teflon021330d ago

Literally played through and 100%'d River City Girls and literally said to myself, they really need to rerelease Scott Pilgrim or I'm pulling out my PS3 again with it on it. IMO the best beat em up I've ever played. So happy, I legit may buy on switch, ps4 and PC

Chocoburger1330d ago

Probably the best game Ubisoft released for the past decade. The only digital game I've ever pre-ordered with no regrets. Fantastic game, not sure if I'll buy it again since I have my PS3 readily available.
If you enjoyed Turtles in Time, or Streets of Rage in the past, then don't let this game pass you by!

NecrumOddBoy1330d ago

I highly recommend Ubi Framework games like Valiant Hearts.

robtion1330d ago

The movie is directed by Edgar Wright (Cornetto trilogy) and is quirky and great fun.

The game is also great retro fun and has been unavailable for years as it was delisted from the PS3 store. Will definitely pick it up for PS4.

Unknown_Gamer57941330d ago

Is it odd that I never watched the movie, and read a bit of the first volume of the graphic novel and found it kind of boring, but love the game? I still have this on my PS3 actually. I never did get the DLC though so I'm glad this is happening. Now I just have to decide if I want it on my PS4 or Switch.
