that's not really that great

plus they are hypocrites because they touted how much better SR2 was compared to GTA4, even though they both stunk

Christopher5010d ago

And only how many years later? Saints Row 2 is kind of a guilty pleasure, but definitely not on the same level as GTA games.

DA_SHREDDER5010d ago

Yeah, its definitely not on the same level as GTA4. Its like, way more fun. I hope the ps3 version is in 3-D too. Can't wait!

GWAVE5010d ago

Achieving GTA4's graphics is not an accomplishment. In fact, "matching" the graphics is more like something to be shameful about.

Christopher5010d ago

@Da-Shredder: I guess to each his own. For me, GTA4 was a great story and I enjoyed it a lot more than SR2. A hell of a lot more.

FragMnTagM5010d ago

What OPEN world game looks better? I can't name one besides RDR. And it uses the same tech with a couple years tweaking. Saints Row and GTAIV both were a blast for me. It seems people just forget how to have fun.

I had enough fun for the money I spent on both of the games. Don't know why people always have to hate. Just because they took out a few things from a previous version doesn't mean the game was crappy.

Playing with friends online and doing crazy jumps off of really high buildings into another friends helicopter blades and flying across the map to your death was a lot of fun.

Rolling 16 deep, messing with cops, racing bad ass cars through digital NY was fun as hell for me.

Saints Row 2 has crazier stuff to do, but to me it gets older a little bit faster than GTA. Customization through the roof is pretty damn awesome, but the cars barely look like anything real and still don't manage to look very cool. The characters you can create, however, are absolutely classic.

Both good games in their own right. Can't wait for Saints Row 3 and GTA 5.

they do know it sounds REALLY bad, right?

Was way more FUN than GTA4. For me GTA4 only beat saints row in graphics. SR2 reminded me of the original GTA3, while GTA4... felt like a GTA knock-off with good graphics.

Nintenuendo5010d ago

This. Exactly this.

Saint's Row 2 was so much more enjoyable than GTA IV, at least in my opinion. Compare mini-games like "Insurance Fraud" and "Septic Avenger" to... well... darts... and bowling.

Plus, getting your gang to dress in all ninja suits and blow up old people with a laser-guided rocket, while riding on the back of your co-op partners tricket-out Meter Maid car, is absolutely priceless.

Greywulf5010d ago (Edited 5010d ago )

I don't know why everyone jumped on the GTA bandwaggon. I've been a fan of the franchise, but GTA4 was rubbish compared to Sr2. SR2 was more hardcore/dirty/crime than GTA4 could ever be. GTA4 was the first GTA I stopped playing due to boredom. After that bank robery thing, I just realized it wasn't fun. And theres nothing to do to kinda kill time in the game until you feel like a mission again.

People some how got confused into thinking GTA was about graphics? And not the ability to beat the hell out of people with anything you want? Then they started claiming GTA was about the story?????

If Sr3 matches GTA4's visuals, its only that much more of an insult to the lack of direction Rockstar has taken the series.

Saints Row already takes the Gameplay award home... well for fans of GTA.

I mean for example, some ass was complaining about the DRIVING in GTA4 vs Saints Row... as a negative thing? As if its a car simulator????

w/e.

Day 1.

nickjkl5010d ago (Edited 5010d ago )

woah woah woah you couldnt do anything in gta3 i think you should go play gta3 and remind youre self how empty it is compared to gta4

VINNIEPAZ5010d ago

Cannot wait to even see pictures of this game. I love the SR series.

jay25010d ago (Edited 5010d ago )

I find that very worrying, how long ago did GTAIV come out?
Love the "brand new" technology that matches GTAIV.

EDIT @ F.D, see the 2 posts below bud.

Forbidden_Darkness5010d ago

If you think about it, the studio thats making SR3 is smaller, has less money to develope their games AND les time, so it's pretty good considering those facts, i just hope they don't go to much for graphics then gameplay, though ive never played a SR, so im not sure about the franchise.

NYC_Gamer5010d ago

so THQ can only match the graphics of gta4?which came out in 08..

Double Toasted5010d ago (Edited 5010d ago )

Which were shit then...

SOAD5010d ago

The Rockstar Advanced Game Engine cost about 100 million dollars to develop. So, I do find it impressive that THQ will match GTA IV's visuals, even though GTAIV was released about 2 years ago.

comp_ali5010d ago

You must be ashame of yourselves , GTA IV was 2 years ago. speak about recent games or just shut up.

MicroSony4Life5010d ago (Edited 5010d ago )

GTA IV:

With an all but confirmed US$100 million budget and a development staff of 1,000 people, Grand Theft Auto IV is the most expensive video game ever created by man.

SR2:

Work on the game began July 1, 2005, with a small core team, and eventually 165 people were involved in the development, Kulas said.

I know SR3 will probally have the same amount of developers as SR2 and not half the budget that GTA IV had - so give them credit where credit is due.

T9X695010d ago

If they would have said RDR instead of GTAIV I would be impressed. Then again Saints Row has never been about graphics, much like the older GTA's. Saints Row is pure fun, I honestly could care less if the graphics looked the same as SR2, but saying SR3 is to match GTAIV isn't something to brag about. GTAIV looked good in 2008, now it kinda looks like crap lol

FragMnTagM5010d ago

Just a few years of tweaking it a little. Both games look great to me. Especially on my PC, GTAIV looks really nice.

Slightly disappointing game but Wo Long had a good creator. I was impressed by Oblivion back in what 05, 06? But the worst i have ever seen, clearly, Valheim.

ModsDoBetter364d ago

What was up with Wo Long?

Not looked at any reviews and did download it on my Xbox before I sold the console but never got around to playing it. Saw it drop in price on PS5 and was thinking of picking it up.

RE: Character creation

Oblivion hold a special place for me, when it came out on PS3, it was the first game of its kind that I had played and the character creator took was amazing.

I do like Monster Hunter: World & FFXIV, personally.
Cyberpunk did good in that department, despite its numerous flaws.

IamTylerDurden1364d ago

I played Oblivion day 1 on 360 and was impressed with the creator. Damn near 20 yrs ago, it was impressive at the time. Special game, unfortunately 90% of current gamers on social media have not a clue about the older stuff. Elder Scrolls is just Skyrim to many. They know not of Gothic and the old guard that paved the way. Flimsy ass rhetoric and recycled opinions about the same bs is what garners attention. Meme culture. Insight and intellect hold no place on the current day internet. Fuck likes, follows, BS. I say what i believe is relevant, what i'm interested in, and following means fuck all bc i don't respect 99% of the ppl online anyway.

For the "TLDR" bs. I'ma not space it out on purpose. Fuck you very much folks.

isarai365d ago (Edited 365d ago )

Honestly the one I remember being easiest and flexible enough to make any character I imagined was the PS2 WWE games, and Saints Row 2. I did really enjoy Dragons dogmas character creation too

IamTylerDurden1364d ago (Edited 364d ago )

I was gonna mention Black Desert but the game is horrible so...

Creator was the best part.

bunt-custardly364d ago

Lol CP 2077 is one of the easiest and less detailed editors around. It's all a mish-mash of presets.

Honorable mention to Drive Clubs Ferrari Fxx-K. Should be there over Horizon.

TheColbertinator468d ago

The Suzuki Escudo Pikes Peak from the Gran Turismo series

Nissan Skyline from Need for Speed Underground

Motorcycle Steamroller from Dead Rising 3

And finally a car you never drive but saves your ass over and over : Honey Badger from COD MW2

Gardenia468d ago

I was thinking of Mad Max. That V8 felt really good to drive around in, especially with upgrades.

dumahim468d ago

No one liked the Batmobile in Arkham Knight. Top 10?

toxic-inferno468d ago

I don't know... It was a strange addition to the game, and the parts of the game where you had to fight in it were tedious. But driving it around Gotham felt brilliant.

Ten best games from the 2000s you may have missed

The 2000s was a great decade for a lot of brilliant video games. Here are the ten best games of the 2000s that you may not have played.

You know usually when someone says "you may have missed" it's games that were lesser known, hidden gems, underrated games. These are all super high profile games that sold extremely well.

FPS_D3TH491d ago (Edited 491d ago )

You know the 2000s is 20 years ago too? Maybe, just maybe this wasn’t an article targeted to 30+ gamers? Still says at the very beginning of the title “THE BEST GAMES you may have missed”. Regardless of how well they sold there’s tons of gamers who haven’t touched these older well known games lol.

Welshy490d ago (Edited 490d ago )

It's games you "may have missed", insinuating you were around and gaming in the 2000's and were there to miss them. If it was aimed at everyone else then they missed literally everything, not just the top games.

The original commenter is right, this is a badly written article at best pointless at worst.

Crows90490d ago

Besides only being able to miss it if you were around during that time..if your point stands then this is a horrible list. Tons of better games people may have missed

XxINFERNUSxX491d ago

I would like the original max payne remade in a new engine with ray tracing. 😊

FPS_D3TH491d ago

Remedy games already working on that and I’m so stoked for it

XxINFERNUSxX490d ago

Oh yeah thanks for reminding me I totally forgot they were doing it. Also what the hell happened to Kingpin: Reloaded? On Steam coming soon and nohting from the dev.

MadLad490d ago

Yeah, I was just going to say. It's interesting seeing them back behind the series. Max Payne 3 was amazing, but then Rockstar just sat on the IP.
Well, they sit on virtually anything that isn't GTA and Red Dead now.

porkChop491d ago

What is this list? These are all hugely popular games. I was expecting games like Dark Messiah of Might & Magic, Advent Rising, Arx Fatalis, etc.

FPS_D3TH491d ago

the title didn’t say lesser known titles from the 2000s. This is 20 years ago now lol. Big assumption this list was made for older gamers.

Dirty_Lemons490d ago

That makes me feel so old.

Inverno491d ago

I've only played 3 on that list. Part of me feels bad about how little I used all the consoles I've owned as a kid. One bright side is, there's over 30 years of games to experience for the first time.
