I wish that the strategic nature of the battle system and weapon customization hadn’t been held back by all kinds of other issues, because those two parts of the game are actually pretty great, but when it all comes together Arc Rise Fantasia is decidedly “meh”. If you’re desperate for a new JRPG it isn’t terrible, so go right ahead, but otherwise you should probably just wait for the next hopeful contender from Japan.
Evan from Bit Cultures writes: "If you can get past one of the most atrocious voice acting experiences in living memory (there are a few worse, for sure, but this is bad), then the gameplay is pretty enjoyable. The narrative is also an interesting tale, and the soundtrack is pretty remarkable. But while these aspects are very strong, I’m not quite sure it saves the game."
In this edition of Scattered Showers, Oprainfall takes a look at the longest-delayed games in Europe.
I would sure hate to have my country controlled by an undemocratic EU Parliament.
GameZone: "While individuals had to look past games like [insert lame mini-game collection] and [insert movie tie-in with weak Wiimote waggle], there were still some absolutely wonderful experiences on the Wii. We’ve already gotten through 20 of 'em, and you bet we’re going to keep it up until we get to 50."
Good review :p
Great review, disappointed with the game.
Man, I was looking forward to this game but the voice acting sounds so awful.
I was hoping the VO in the trailer was just for Japan :(
