According to PSU Sources Sony are ready to take Rockstar "under their wings".
"We were coming from a joint Sony, Activision event there in Southern California, when we were told something we definitely weren't ready for.
The discussion at Tengu was fairly simple in its scope: various sources in the press and development team state that Sony is looking to take Rockstar "under their wings". While we learned that any agreement Sony and Take Two entered into would not affect the upcoming Grand Theft Auto IV, such an agreement would presumably affect any future releases from Rockstar, including the new franchise Sony has been discussing and L.A. Noire, which looks likely to be a PS3 exclusive at this point as well."
"The sudden closure of several video-game studios at Microsoft Corp.’s Xbox division was the result of a widespread cost-cutting initiative that still isn’t finished.
This week, Xbox began offering voluntary severance agreements to producers, quality assurance testers and other staff at ZeniMax, which it purchased in 2020 for $7.5 billion, according to people familiar with the company’s plans. Others across the Xbox organization have been told that more cuts are on the way.
Speaking about the closures more broadly, Booty said that the company’s studios had been spread too thin — like “peanut butter on bread” — and that leaders across the division had felt understaffed. They decided to close these studios to free up resources elsewhere, he said.
Game Pass has not seen the massive growth that Xbox boss Phil Spencer may have been hoping for."

So what you're saying is...you bought all these studios and you guys can't run them.
Jesus.
Reports are suggesting that Game Pass will be getting a price hike soon and that Call of Duty may not be added to the day one offering. I honestly have a hard time believing this but it does beg the question why exactly did GP fail? I think the answer is that it just didn't get the growth that it anticipated. Jim was right but I wish he wasn't because at the end of the day, its gamers, devs and other front-line workers who have to absorb the blow for Spencer and team's miscalculations.
For all the armchair executives who were calling for Sony to release its big-budget AAA games on PS+, the same exact thing would have happened at PlayStation. Game Pass has killed Xbox. Congrats.
A look back at 4A Games' admirably consistent post-apocalyptic shooter franchise.
"While the 20 year anniversary edition of Nordic Game, NG24 Spring's homepage on 21-24 May in Malmö, Sweden, is getting closer, the organizers announced that more than 150 speakers are now lined up for the show." - Nordic Game.
If anyone has enough cash to grab them its Microsoft BUT...
If Rockstar feel that the PS3 is their calling and they can only make games they want on that system only then Sony dont need to make an insane offer at all lol.
Do you remember that they stated that Mark Rein told them that UT3 supports PS3 to PC crossplatform play?
Lets wait and see. So far this is only a rumor.
It would be an awesome buy for Sony if true.
i'll wait and see
if Sony buys Rockstar then it would be a huge moveon sony's part. but i doubt it considering the contract they have with MS and the 2 exclusives content for GTA, not only that but bully and manhunt are all multiplatform. so this is like Meh but it would be cool to know if this was true. this would mean that rockstar would have open access to everything in sony's development library and resources.
and know MS isn't the only company with deep pocket. sony is just as rich none the less. and has been in the buisness alot longer. still
this news is to be taken with a grain of salt.
come on ppl that cant be true, but í hope it is true, would be nice.
