Sequels weren't as good as original in my opinion. Even though the third game has Jean Reno in it! But it's more than time for a new one. Even if they had an outside studio do it. They did that with DmC. Regardless it's time for new Onimusha!
I agree, the series did slightly decline with each sequel.
But seeing as Capcom haven't done anything original since Dragons Dogma, I can't see them bringing Onimusha back anytime soon unless funded by Sony or MS as an exclusive.
I think Platinum games or Ninja Theory could do a good job with the series. There is no Dante design for fans to get triggered about this time around.
Good article. I didn't know Inafune was a co-creator on onimusha. He's a legend but I haven't gotten into anything he's made since he left.
I would buy a new onimusha. Nioh took full advantage of that premise and it's fantastic. A new Dino crisis would be cool as well.
Fully agree on Haunting Ground. It was a severely underrated horror that was panned more for the way Fionna dressed than actual gameplay elements. A great story with demented but memorable characters, gameplay that was pretty much the understudy for the Amnesia titles and its all orchestrated on an great engine that loads once or twice for the duration for the whole game. I wish that it was on PSN due to the ludicrous pricing it normally has, both stores and online, preventing more players from experiencing this masterpiece......
