G5 Entertainment is one such publisher whose past titles have included the likes of Stand o’ Food and Supermarket Mania. The Mystery of the Crystal Portal is a hidden objects game available now on PSN. Will you find this to your liking or are you better off giving it a miss?

Pocket Gamer: Is it just us, or are recent entries in the hidden object genre tending to feel more like ‘tidying up’ simulators than grand adventures?

The lavishly detailed screens found in games like Mystery of the Crystal Portal are crammed with potential items to rifle through and neatly file into virtual boxes. It looks pretty enough, but the gameplay soon becomes little more than a humdrum clean-up exercise.

DEN writes: "The Mystery Of The Crystal Portal is a “hidden picture” style of puzzle game, newly released as a “mini” title, playable on the PS3 or PSP. Players are given a static image, and tasked with finding specific objects, often unlocking a new section of the screen, only to be tasked with trying to pick out even more hard to find items on the screen. When there’s a lot of stuff cluttering the screen, the challenge ramps up and these types of games are not necessarily as easy as they may first appear."
