Ed Boon: All 9 Mortal Kombat Games On a Single Disc?

MortalKombatBlackout interviewed Ed Boon at E3 2010 and one of the question he asked was “If they had any plans for MK’s 20th anniversary coming up” and Ed Boon replied “No, but that’s a really good question. I guess when this game comes out, it’ll be 2011 which will be 19 years.

because BluRay can hold up to 50gb.
But Midway would not want to alienate the Xbox 360 users:/

so whatever Xbox gets, ps3 will get.
so if Xbox can't get all MK titles, PS3 will not get it.

One of the things that p*sses me off about Multiplatform games:/

TrevorPhillips5048d ago

Too much hassle for that =/

Bereaver5048d ago

You mean too many royalties. :p

zeeshan5048d ago

Yes please! A super MK compilation!

sikbeta5048d ago (Edited 5048d ago )

Sadly it'll never happen, Idk how much space would it take, but more than 3DVDs is a NO-NO for devs and seem they want to have every multiplat game "equivalent", content is equivalent too, devs can't "favour" 1 console version (cos now is taken that way) cos the other camp will be p*ssed and will not support the game

RockmanII75048d ago

Don't kid yourself, they wouldn't do that anyway.

F#@k MS and their outdated dvd format!! If 360 owners want all 9 MK games on one disc, get a PS3.

KingKiff5048d ago

Said like a pro. MS Xbox doesn't need every game. Well I suppose they are getting less and less exclusives each year.

HeyImWiiTARDED5048d ago

The fatalities look so brutal, but I still hate the static animations. They need to make it more smooth in transition.

TrevorPhillips5048d ago

Couldn't agree anymore. But what if they just release the old school Mortal Kombat titles like; Ultimate MK 3, MK Trilogy, MK 1, etc.

xino5048d ago

didn't people paid for them on Xbox Live Arcade and PSN?

Why have something people already paid for 2x?
they paid for the cartridge, paid for the digital content and now they should pay for it being backwards on disc?

not unless it will be remastered in 720, 60fps, new contents like God of War Collection.

TrevorPhillips5048d ago

Ultimate MK 3 for 360 and PS3 was apparently removed, don't know why though.

But yea if they were to bring those ones that I listed above, it should atleast be remade into HD and of course like you said 60fps.

DaBadGuy5048d ago

I paid for the cartridge and the digital game. Not to mention the ungodly amount of quarters I fed the Mortal Kombat II cabinet back in the day. Them was the days. Back when it was Mortal Kombat vs Street Fighter not PS3 Sales vs 360 Sales, simpler times. Both games were equally badass, but just when I thought I knew all the combos, Tekken and Virtua Fighter changed the game.

Ri0tSquad5048d ago (Edited 5048d ago )

Sort of like what Namco did with Tekken 5.

BTW, I think the removal of UMK3 from XBLA has something to do with Midway going bankrupt.

yewles15048d ago

Then how come MKII is still at the PS Store?

Ri0tSquad5048d ago

Sony Online Entertainment (SOE) published MK2 on PSN which gives them the rights to the game on that platform (which is why it hasn't been removed), while Midway - who went bankrupt and is now known as NetherRealm Studios under Warner Bros - published UMK3 on XBLA which is why it was removed as well as other games.

Baltis5048d ago

19 years, man. And then put it into perspective with how little the genre has changed. We are officially stuck in low gear. We have been for some time now. Nothing in the Racing, Fighting, Wrestling, Sports, FPS genre ever changes. It's all the same, different name or number on the box and that's it.

FPS change the gun we play with and that's it. Story might go from period to period but fundamentally we are the camera attached to a gun. Pretty lame.

23478ueyur_9382235048d ago (Edited 5048d ago )

While I don't particularly care about Mortal Kombat, I find it funny that you don't know anything about fighting games but you think you do.

"Nothing in the Racing, Fighting, Wrestling, Sports, FPS genre ever changes."

You probably play RPGs.

I also like how you are one of those leeches on this website who cannot submit nor approve, yet you bother to pout on unapproved articles in the absence of doing anything useful.

Hoje03085048d ago

He's quite possibly the most negative person I've encountered anywhere. Check his post history if you feel like stuffing yourself into an incinerator later on.

23478ueyur_9382235048d ago

Haha yeah, but he's one of those who does it on purpose. I mean, I don't like a lot of games coming out nowadays, but unlike him I have the capacity to understand why others would.

madjedi5048d ago (Edited 5048d ago )

@Satanas Actually his is kinda right, they still all play the same basic way as in previous generations, i'll grant you some new combos, weapons/toys, and cover ect.

And the introduction of 3d vs 2d worlds/objects but the essential elements are all still basically the same.

So he mostly play rpgs that don't really change. Vs what the same repetitive fighting games that recieve a roster change and move set alterations with each new version, and a story that is forgetable at best or sports games yearly roster changes wow.

Oh please continue to talk about how rpgs don't ever really change, i'll continue to tell some of you fighting and sports fools, exactly how stagnant your specific genres actually have become.

Just because you don't like a specific genre, doesn't mean you need to down it, plz be a shooter head saying rpgs don't change i'll love it.

Silly gameAr5048d ago (Edited 5048d ago )

Sounds like you should give up on gaming man. Do you enjoy gaming anymore because your comments tend to be more negative than positive. The MK series my not have changed much in 19 years, but MK 9 looks amazing imo and it's one of my most anticipated games of 2011.

An anniversary collection with all nine games would be awesome, or at least the games Agent-X mentioned.

23478ueyur_9382235048d ago

Apparently he likes obscure PSN titles. While they may be good, they're probably not.

Newtype5048d ago

That would be awesome if they did that.

DarkBlood5048d ago

if that was ever true id pay 100 dollars for it even

15 Hardest Final Bosses In Fighting Games

GB: "More than perhaps any other genre, fighting games offer the kind of mechanical depth that you can lose yourself in for years. Learning the ins and outs, learning and perfecting combos, and so many other things that make this one of the most competitive genres in gaming, even on a professional level now. But you don’t have to be playing against another human to be challenged in a fighting game. Throughout the years, this genre has thrown multiple final bosses at us that have got us all collectively pulling our hair out. In this feature, we’ll be taking a look at fifteen such fights."

Mortal Kombat Female Designs from 2011 - 2019

CG writes: Despite Ed Boon going on record suggesting he would have rather toned down the “mature” looks of the ladies in Mortal Kombat 9 (ignoring the extreme violence) how well do the designs stack up over the years? We take a look at select Mortal Kombat female characters and compare them from Mortal Kombat 9 in 2011 through to the latest Mortal Kombat 11 in 2019. It’s rather interesting to not only see the graphical differences, but also how the design changed from porn star looking fighters to more realistic characters.

Mortal Kombat was always over the top, with the violence and character design. It seems dumb to suddenly become a puritan regarding boobs, but then remain just as silly with the violence and fatalities.

AnubisG1855d ago

They claim it's because now it's more realistic🤣

TricksterArrow1855d ago (Edited 1855d ago )

Well, the game was never about the bewbs, unlike DOA, for example, so... Is this really an issue either way? Plus, the females looked transgender in M9. :S

Jaypi031855d ago

Imo the fatalities seem like "silly" and just more brutal and graphic than ever to the point where it's near cringe inducing in a good way.

Jaypi031855d ago (Edited 1855d ago )

Could it just be different artist and tech? I think with MK9 they had the characters looking over the top cartoony to downright ugly, due to the limitations of the 360 and PS3 at the time, then with X you could see they were moving to a more realistic design, and now with 11 it seems that goal of realistic design has been reached now that they've seem to have perfected the facial technology with Injustice 2.

I think the costume designs for the majority of the characters are pretty realistic within context, while still making them look unique and cool.

TricksterArrow1855d ago

Sonya had more abs and broader shoulders than the guys at my gym in MK9. It was really not that sexy.

NapalmSanctuary1855d ago

In MKX Kitana and Mileena looked really good. Probably the best they've ever looked, concerning their defaults. In MK11, Kitana and Skarlet look clownish. Jade looks ok but nowhere near as good as Kitana and Mileena from MKX. None of these look realistic in any sense of the word, though Kitana's MKX outfit got pretty close to somewhat realistic. I just want an option to make Kitana look cool again. She was my main in MKX but I can't stand the way she looks in this one.

paradigmfellow1855d ago

Disagree with you. 11 has the best looking Kitana I have ever seen.

gamer78041852d ago

they could still have realism and show some skin where it made sense. Looks like they just covered up all the women and not the men.

MrChow6661855d ago

The character designs of mk11 are the best in the series so far, the 2011 designs look ahemm...not very feminine to be honest
