Do they have an official release date for LA Noire?

mjolliffe5023d ago

I don't think they do. Y'know, I can't even remember them saying anything other than a 2010 release.

There hasn't been any other delays, has there?

TheLeprachaun5023d ago

Not very likely it'll come out this year. Sometime in 2011 I would imagine.

Fishy Fingers5023d ago (Edited 5023d ago )

VGReleases (N4G sister site) has Q2 2011. Originally I think it was Q4 2010, but got pushed back. Nothing confirmed though.

Fishy Fingers5023d ago (Edited 5023d ago )

Ha, double post. Havent had that since the new site went live.

Commander_TK5023d ago

when it multiplat. Oh well, still interested a little bit

Playerz85023d ago

Can they just release the game? I'm sure it'll be as good as RDR and GTA4, but why do they have to show off so much when their game is so unproven?

scruffy_bear5023d ago

Just give us a official release date

Alos885023d ago

Heavy Rain was a line in the sand for plot in games too. Thank God gamers voted with their wallets rather than numbing their minds with another throwaway FPS.

BeaArthur5023d ago

FPSs are pretty fun too although I will agree there are far too many. If you pick and choose the right ones though they can be a blast.

mjolliffe5023d ago

As fun as FPSs are, the majority of them don't offer enough depth when it comes to the story. That's my opinion at least.

gamingisnotacrime5023d ago

when i played Halo Combat Evolved i was amazed with the great campaign since online was not there. but then came halo 2 and 3 and the campaigns have been more like add ons for the excellent mp

BeaArthur5023d ago

mjolliffe...true a lot of them lack in story but I mostly buy them for MP. If it comes with a good campaign that's awesome too but the MP is where it's at for me.

R0me5023d ago

Well I think they did a great job with BF:BC I liked the diffrent characters, it was fun to see their faces again in BF:BC2.

mrcash5022d ago

Brothers in arms, has a great story don't care much about the multi on that game but its a great campaign.

when we went and bought Heavy Rain, knowing it was risky but what a huge pay off. love that game.
If you have a PS3 this game must be on your collection, next to Uncharted series, MGS4, GoW3

Montrealien5023d ago

Do you are saying that if you have a PS3, you should have its best games? I think you are on to something.

cranium5023d ago

LBP also deserves to be in the "PS3 awesome club"

mrcash5022d ago

Best games on ps3 so far, Uncharted and heavy rain..... The rest are good in their own right but i can pass on them. I am however, waitin on Last Guardian.

MarkyMarky5023d ago

If by line in the sand you mean what not to do in a game then yeah, Heavy Rain drew a line in the sand. Crappy minigames where you play with the kids, complete with unbelievably corny dialogue... then an annoying scene where you walk after effing Jason calling out to him with the same 3 voice samples over and over again... Then in a totally unpredicatable plot twist.. the guy divorces his wife... you seriously gotta numb your brain to deal with that crap... still... not as bad as FF13 though...

fooltheman5022d ago

Heavy rain was pretty good imo
But Sony didn't gave them alot of money I think, because it was a risk...
now it has paid off
Heavy rain's developer can grow... use the ps3 better and so on...

mrcash5022d ago

There were a lot of annoyances with, Heavy Rain, but it was still a great game... I thought lauren looked the worst out of all the characters, real sh1tty. The thing I don't understand, is, that they want to immerse you as much as possible in the game, but they use movement controls that imo take you out of the experience. If they could have just used the analogue stics for movement it would have been a lot better.

fooltheman5022d ago

Well, it had it's flaws...
But Quantic dream did know what they we're doing ^^

callahan095023d ago

I like the idea of this game a lot. Doing interrogations and having to discern whether they're lying based on their facial tics etc. I love the idea of it! Like "Lie to Me" the game set in the 40's in LA. Could be brilliant. I wonder why Sony stopped funding and gave this up in exchange for Agent, which seems just as far away from reality now as LA Noire did a couple of years ago when they decided to give up on it.

PirateThom5023d ago (Edited 5023d ago )

I'd say, it basically boiled down to unproven studio who had shown nothing vs Rockstar North.

Nothing more than that.

Alos885023d ago

Rockstar has said Agent will create a new genre much like GTA III did, which is terrifying if it proves true.
"Hey guys, we're just going to make a new genre over here ok? No no, you just keep doing whatever you're doing, we're fine."

Montrealien5023d ago (Edited 5023d ago )

How about the team behind the Getaway? Is that what you consider unproven Piratethom?

Team Bondi is basically Team Soho's spiritual successor which was founded by Brendan McNamara, the current lead on LA Noir and the founder of Team Bondi.

Imho, the Getaway was one of PS2's better exclusive franchises and if Sony believed in them back then to take chances with that awesome franchise, there is surely a reason Rockstar is doing the same with LA noir.

RememberThe3575023d ago

Personally I think the price tag was getting too high. Sony figured that they couldn't make back that kind of money with an exclusive so they gave it to RockStar in exchange for Agent exclusivity.

Sony gets a huge budget off their hands and gains an exclusive game form one of the worlds premiere developers.

Rockstar gets a revolutionary game and the ability to work exclusively on the PS3 (Something that the Houser brothers had been eluding to wanting to do since before GTA4 launched).

Sounds like a win-win.

secksi-killer5023d ago

can you post a link where r* have said that the agent is going to create a new genre please. i'm really interested in the agent, and would love to read some more about this game.

Game-ur5023d ago

Sony paid 20m for the development of LA Noir(the same cost of Uncharted 2), but Team Bondi got tide up with Rockstar, then Sony were offered Agent(from Rockstar North) as an exclusive in its place.

Smart decision from Sony if you ask me, they end up with 2 games instead of one for the same 20m.

-SIXAXIS-5022d ago

Well they are definitely smarter than MS...MS paid over 75m for 2 timed, short DLC packs.

LeonSKennedy4Life5023d ago

That quote is extremely unimpactful.

Please stop comparing video games to movies

"Many video games catch not only great commercial attention but remarkable critical attention as well. We have seen games like Heavy Rain, The Last of Us Part II, and even entries in the Metal Gear series described as fantastic interactive experiences, even heralded in the same way as Hollywood's greatest films.

I would suggest that not only is this an unfair comparison but also a harmful one. Video games, by their very nature, are an intricately different medium and should be weighed against one another rather than another form of media," Phillip writes for GF365.

Yes, please stop. They're better than most hollywood drivel nowadays.

BLAKHOODe1260d ago

I think Hollywood films will becoming increasingly more like video games in the future, especially as the world embraces the "new normal" from the pandemic. It makes sense, as games like Spider-Man: Miles Morales showcase just how realistically we're reaching in graphical capabilities, as well as showcase extreme action sequences in spectacular ways. And as time goes by, it'll get easier and cheaper to produce such "art", as well as create new star "actors" that never age, never die, never complain, never gets involved in scandals, etc. Technology is amazing and we're only just getting a taste of what it'll eventually be.

sourOG1260d ago

No. Some games are like movies.

medman1260d ago (Edited 1260d ago )

No. For the money spent, a quality game provides far more entertainment value than a quality movie. Especially when looking at what is going on in the world, and how a studio can attempt to pilfer from consumers by charging 30 dollars for Mulan via streaming. Ridiculous. There is no comparison....games all day.

Have you played Detroit? While it’s my personal favorite, I fully understand many preferring Heavy Rain more. I’m glad you enjoyed Heavy Rain too.

bouzebbal1417d ago

def. one of my top 3 best experiences on PS3

ClayRules20121417d ago

bouzebbal

That’s awesome to hear! What’re the other 2 best experiences?

akaFullMetal1417d ago

Great game, need to get started on Detroit soon.

ClayRules20121417d ago

Glad you enjoyed the game! Yes, Detroit is a masterpiece of a game, and their best work to date “in my opinion”

ClayRules20121417d ago

Wow, 10 years...and yet, still one of the best/most emotional/thrilling gaming experiences I’ve ever had.

So grateful to Sony for believing in Quantic Dream’s vision for this game, and giving them a chance. I’ll never forget David Cage saying “We want to challenge the player, but not with the controller, but mentally, with their decisions of “How far would you go to save someone you love” Well, they broke my emotional gamer heart lol.

My teenage son refuses to play this game, because I’ve told him in little detail the emotional impact it had on me all those years ago. Maybe one day he will.

Still have my origami crane they teach you how to make when you're installing for the first time.

it's been 10 years? wow, that was so fast, I feel like this console gen went fast as well although it hasn't. I really look forward to the PS5 this holiday season though.
