G5 Entertainment’s The Mystery of the Crystal Portal is the latest title to capitalise on the growing popularity of Hidden Object games on the PlayStation 3. After years of quietly bubbling under on PC, the advent of digital distribution channels on consoles has given the genre a new outlet, and one that’s proving surprisingly fruitful.
The Mystery of the Crystal Portal debuted the 'PlayStation Minis' category back in 2010, promoting cross-buying between PS3 and PSP.
Twinfinite writes, "Hidden object adventure games are relaxing little treats amid the common chaos of video games. Publisher G5 Entertainment understands this, and wants to make the word a better place by offering Artogan's The Mystery of the Crystal Portal completely free of charge for a limited time."
The Electronic Farmyard writes:
Nicole Rankwist is a journalist from New York who after her archaeologist father goes missing; heads out on an eye-popping quest to find him and discover the truth behind something call the Crystal Portal. In The Mystery of the Crystal Portal (TMotCP) your job as Nicole, is to search the four corners of the Earth whilst solving hidden object gameplay in what is surprisingly an addictive and pleasantly presented story driven mystery game.
