Classic Controller Pro the 'optimal' way to play GoldenEye, says producer

According to GoldenEye 007's executive producer Julian Widdows, using the Classic Controller Pro is the "optimal way" to play the upcoming Wii FPS.

This is very interesting. Apparently Nintendo released the classic controller to mark a push towards core gaming. Which I guess is why it was bundled with Monster Hunter Tri. Credit where credit's due. They have been listening and working with Capcom on releasing a new peripheral to drive toward the core gamer, which is cool.

It begs the question then, why do we have to play this game on the wii if the best way to play it is without motion controls lol

I think I will buy a Wii and one of these controllers. Hey, does anyone here know if you can use the classic controllers to play gamecube games? I don't intend to make any use of the Nunchuck, so.

I don't think so, it is used mainly for virtual games. But the Wii supports Gamecube controllers which is better imo than the classic controller bc it is more comfortable.

When I bought another wii (the black version) I bought the Classic Pro controller and I have to say it is one of the most comfortable controllers I have used. It is lacking in some areas, but I'm so glad they're making use of it for Goldeneye.

Bet this means no customisation options for pointer... lame... good job I've got a CC Pro but I'd much prefer customisable pointer controls.

They better do like The Conduit and Reflex when it comes to IR controls. IR is the way to go!

After playing Monster Hunter Tri for 15+ hours after only 3 days with this controller...this should have came with the Wii in the first place!

Luckily, I bought one of these, when I picked up Mario Kart. Though, I just have the regular white controller one.

... I would have preferred to play this with the wii zapper or just wiimote and nunchuck but this is fine as well. that and ive heard that the analogs are superior to the 360/ps3 more precision. day 1 for me.

Wooow. I totally prefer FPS on Wii because of the Wii remote's accuracy. If the classic controller is really the optimum way to play the game, then WHY the hell is this not coming out for my ps3 or 360?! I think that also means these guys are just being lazy as hell. I bought Modern Warfare for my Wii and not my 360/PS3 just because of the IR control. And for all the people not familiar with the Wii.... for FPS games, motion controls aren't used at all for pointing. It's all IR.
