Honestly most of XBOX and PS3 library is redundant so to have both doesnt make sense to me. I prefer PS3 + PC.

Hardware-wise there is no competition. PS3 all the way. XBOX360S is just a PS3 wannabe with less features than the already downgraded PS3 Slim.

PS3 set of exclusives is a must have for me. Not to mention I dont want to pay to play online, and dont like green.

In retrospect of my life and my friends lives, that would indicate that you love to game, so much that, you set aside money to game intensively. So much money perhaps that instead of buying that sprinkler for your yard or that new area rug you decide you want to pour all of your money into gaming. That being said (you stated also that you were a smart consumer) you would have the broad-mindedness and the money to try all three. Choosing to narrow your interest to one console and say only that in your statement I believe that you are neither of what you stated and furthermore are a very polite PS3 fanboy.

I'm with raztad on this one. I don't think you need all consoles to be hardcore, as vague a statement as hardcore is anyway, but ps3 and PC is enough for me. With ps3 you get a wide selection of strong first party exclusives which by and large isn't the case for the 360 as many titles will also be found on PC. PC fills in the gaps left out in the ps3 library and is the primary choice of format when buying shooters and RPGs. By no means am I playing down the 360 for people who own it, I think it's a great console just arguably not necessary if you own a capable PC.

I have a PC and PS3 and I'm satisfied.

STEAM is amazing for great deals on PC games (retail games are overpriced) and my PS3 nets me some great exclusives and many multi-platform games ... I can't justify purchasing an XBOX360.

I'm not downplaying the 360. For me personally there is no point in getting it.

There is always a little voice in my gamer brain that tells me to get a 360 for the exclusives ... but then there is another little voice that screams RROD and disc scratching ... sooo many people I personally know have had those problems, had to ship their consoles for replacements ... its really pushed me away from the console ... Maybe if this slim is more reliable, I'll change my mind.

whos to say what games are necessary to play in order to be a hardcore gamer? no matter what you are going to miss out on a lot of games. if you own a ps3 only you are getting to play many other multiplatform games you would may have missed if you owned 3 consoles and played mostly exclusives (unless you are rich and have the time and money to play all exclusives and all multiplats). i can sacrifice gears and halo and mario for some multiplat games because there are many great multiplats out there that i like much better.

i play ps2, ps3 and psp bc if i dont have a psp i am missing out on many great prequels and sequels to my favorite franchises and other great installments to my franchises. socomftb3 and jak&daxter to name a few.

At the same price at $299, one console gives you a Blu-Ray player and free online play on top of an excellent game console, one doesn't.

The Wii might still appeal to families, those who don't care about online or high def and the budget minded, but you'd be crazy to pick a 360s over a PS3. Even if you didn't need a Blu-Ray player, why wouldn't you spend the same money and get one for free? And who wants to pay extra to game online? It's like throwing money away when there's another way.

Other than that, each system has it's own great exclusives, so that's pretty much a wash. The PS3 is simply a better value in my opinion.

Personally, I'm a gamer so I own both consoles but I feel by far the PS3 is the superior of the two. Mind you, a lot of that opinion is based on personal experiences with bad hardware with the 360. That'll change a gamer's preference in a hurry. Hopefully the 360s is as reliable as they claim.

I would agree with you that it is smart choosing the PlayStation 3 for many reasons. Sony combined the best of both motion technologies into one experience that the casual and hardcore can be satisfied. The best XBOX 360 games are multiplatform Mass Effect, Gears of War, Left 4 Dead, Resident Evil 5, and Red Dead Redemption etc. and then the PlayStation 3 exclusives dominate the other two.

That's just the tip of the iceburge and not even including the non-gaming experiences.

For core gamers the PS3 is the obvious choice. It has the GOTYs of both 2008 and 2009 along with the most features, free online, and great hardware.

For Halo/Gears fans the 360.

For casuals the Wii.

why? because i dont really like gears and halo both are not in my top 20 games i play the 360 for infinite undiscovery, magna carta 2, alan wake, the last remnant, mass effect 1/2, star ocean 4 (it's now on the ps3 but at the time i bought it, it was not), crackdown, condemned, lost odyssey and left 4 dead 1/2 thats just some of the 360 games i own that i play on a regular basis my ps3 I play god of war 3, uncharted 1/2, warhawk, killzone 2, MGS4, folklore, and a bunch of others however the point is saying PS3 because you are a core gamer is stupid if thats the case why don’t you not own an xbox 360, PS3, Wii and of course the extremely expensive gaming pc? never really imagined it any other way, here is a typical night of gaming:

throw on gears of war 2 play some horde mode with the buddies
throw on MAG and follow directives for that sweet double xp
throw on Peggle and play some peg party on LIVE
end the night with an episode of King of the Hill on either my PS3 or 360 using Netflix.

The PS3 is the king of 3rd person single player experiences..Uncharted 2 is the new king, but God of War 3, Metal Gear Solid 4 are simply the cream.

The 360 is all about Xbox Live..so when you see people who pretend they own Xboxes but don't game on Live..then they have missed out on one of the biggest reasons we game on the 360. Muli-player experiences excel over Live and The huge franchises like Halo, Gears, and Call of Duty have dominated on the 360.

The Wii is the sytem EVERYBODY owns. Wii Sports alone sold that system to the masses..I call it the party game box..IMO Boom Blox is one of my fave games this gen...

There are so many other advantages and disadvantages that are discussed ad nauseum..

I salute the real gamers out there..between all systems this gen I'll probably be at over 200 games by January..and we all know next year is also going to be ridiculous too

Both the 360 and PS3. For online based games I go with the superior online service (IMO) XBL. For mostly single player based games (especially multiplat) I go with the PS3.

For me, The PS3 is by far the best single players campaign experience and the 360 is by far the best online multiplayer experience.

this whole better voice chat quality is bul, the only reason more ppl talk on xbl is because most of them got a good mic on their xbox bundle, while with ps3 you can use any, so you don't need the official sony mic, you can use a mic that cost 10$ or one that cost 100$, that is your choice.

Well my main console is the xbox 360 i play the ps3 every now and then, I’ll get the slim one near XMAS and on another note dam final fantasy 13 ending does not disappoint its very good very very good 2nd best short ending I’ve seen (resistance 2 is the bests that ending “this is just the beginning”BOOM ws epic) MGS4 is my best long ending to a game that was truly epic in every sense of the word (sort = under 20 minutes,)

If people like halo more than resistance and uncharted than go for the 360! if you like grand turismo and MGS4 more than forza and splinter cell, then go for the ps3! it's just a matter of preference. I would say the 360 since it just has a lot more games that I like than the wii and ps3 combined, but I still use my ps3 more due to bluray. Tough one to call really, I like both for different reasons, 360 for games, ps3 for blurays which I am developing a bit of an obsession with. I own a ton of them.

but i keep consoles aside becuz most plat-former games dont come out for the pc,nor does uncharted or killzone. so thats why i invested on a PS3 and a 360, so im able to have a choice on when and what i want to play, so all my shooters(Which make sense) goes to pc and all my adventure and racing games and sports,go to my ps3 and some of the better 3-party games and microsoft exclusives(if they are not on pc) go to my 360,so its just a point of choice, its kindof like clothes, which outfit do you choice for this place and so on and so forth

I think, really all it comes down to is PSN catching up to Xbox live, PSN still has about a year to go if they stick to it, live is still better bar none as of now, but a lot can change in a year, PSN just doesnt seem robust enough at this point in arcade game offerings or pizaz times are changing

I own 2 of them the 360 and the PS3. I prefer the 360 just because i've got a lot more friends on XBL that I can talk with and the library of games just interest me more than the PS3:s. Not saying that PSN or PS3 game library is bad but IMO XBL is just the better service for me. I don't care if it costs about 50$/year because i can afford that. I would love to have a Wii and I am really considering getting one because of a great library of first party games incl. Mario, Zelda, Metroid, Kirby and more...

right now i bought a very cheap 360, modded it bought some cheap blank DVDs and am now able to play any game i want, i no this is illegal anyway, after playing splinter cell and alan wake i realized nothing else interested me, which is pretty sad, this wasn't my first 360

currently selling the 360 and am gonna put the money toward a PS3

i have a wii. even though "the wii is for kids and grandmas"
it has a far bigger genre list than the ps360's. the wii has me covered, puzzles, fighter, platformers, arcade, ect...plus it has all of its mascots too, and nintendo has a ton of them.

i also have a PC, so i really don't need a 360. i would also not like to pay for an online game while paying for online. *coughMonsterHuntercough*

however, if i had the money, i'd get a ps3.

so for a win/win, you should combo.
