Peter Molyneux: ‘Milo’ AI is in the Cloud not on disk

Lionhead plans to make Milo as unique as possible to your interactions. Using psychology techniques, the player is asked to make decisions that shape who Milo will be. Pushing this even further is the revelation that Milo’s mind won’t be on a disk. Instead Lionhead will be having Milo connected to the cloud, learning from millions of peoples interactions with Milo. Milo will grow smarter, the more people interact with him and his world.

FragMnTagM5059d ago

That was F'ing hilarious. At 7:28 "Do you want me to open up some seaman whoopas, do ya, do yaaaaaa?"

Also that is a pimp ass R2 D2 TV.

TotalPS3Fanboy5059d ago (Edited 5059d ago )

Milo is just a front end for Windows Live Messenger. When you're chatting with Milo, you're actually just chatting with Peter Molyneux or his staff.

Archdemon5059d ago (Edited 5059d ago )

Milo, kinectimals and red balls. The future is at hand!

MNicholas5059d ago

In other words, when you chat with Milo, it will actually be a front end for Microsoft's massive customer service operation in India.

When you do the math, it's actually quite feasible.

MNicholas5059d ago

In other words, when you chat with Milo, it will actually be a front end for Microsoft's absolutely massive customer service/development operation in India. It can even double up as a conversation training tool (text input on their end) on the India side of things.

When you do the math, it's actually quite feasible.

Like i said this is Microsoft at its best. This is Next Gen Evolution taking a Giant leap forward giving the public a chance to interact with the First and Only true AI. Forget those things like 'that's only possible in the future' because the Future has been brought one step closer to u by Microsoft and only possible on xbox360.

Your proof is a faked video displayed nothing but routines? Oh I just HAPPEND to find a piece of paper want to play a game?

Milo is about as advanced as '1/0' nothing more, and if you think for a second this can create a though you are out of it.

Artifical Intelligence is not something that can be programmed, it learns by itself. If a computer gets too hot it shuts down, because it is told. If a human gets too hot there's far too many reason to even make a basic calculation with 100% certainty what a human would do. For example

Does that human know it'll get cooler?
Does that human enjoy being too hot?
Does that human have something to prevent him from cooling down?

And how would you test A.I? Who you show them a person and wait how long biased or hatred forms?

Would you ask it to write a poem? And see if it can make a flaw?

Lyr1c5059d ago

It's funny how you got disagrees when in fact, everything you have stated was mere fact.

True AI makes mistakes, learns from those mistakes, and has personality. None of this can be programmed.

With the now known fact that facial recognition and voice recognition were thrown out the window, Milo simply can not turn out as they promise.

SeanRL5059d ago

People disagree with others on this site because they don't like hearing what the person is saying, even if it is fact.

mrv3215059d ago (Edited 5059d ago )

Since I own a 360 something I've mentioned many a time in my comments I am PS3 fanboy.

Re-check those comments now notice the 'PS3 FANBOY' ones are all replies to Hacker, Omega and 360 fanboys.

Never would I say anything BUT my personal opinion in a direct reply, and while yes I do PREFER MY PS3 I could not for one second stop someone buying a 360 if they wanted nor could I downright say the 360 is inferior they are different products and cater to different people.

We would have the AI drive our cars for us or fly a plane.

ActionBastard5059d ago

And the cloud is part of XBL Gold.

Godmars2905059d ago

So now you'll have to be a Gold member just to play the game you already spent $60 on?

Yeah!

Hideo_Kojima5059d ago

no you can play with Milo offline... but he just stares blankly at you and won't respond to any commands...

Spenok5059d ago

Damn, i didnt think about that possibility. If thats true i wont be buying this, seeing as how this was the only think that had the opportunity to sell me on Kinect. But $150 for Kinect (still unconfirmed but most likely near the final price) $60 for milo, then another $50 a year just to keep playing it? Eh, if thats my choice then ill pass.

Fishy Fingers5059d ago (Edited 5059d ago )

Clever idea, be good if they could do this with actual games (AI routines and such). Not ragging on Milo, but it's in no way my thing.

Peter Molyneux's new game is set in Fable's Albion

Project currently codenamed MOAT.

JusttJD0099218d ago

M.O.A.T

Misleader of all time?

jznrpg218d ago (Edited 218d ago )

It’s between him and Phil. I’d vote Phil

Obscure_Observer217d ago

"It’s between him and Phil. I’d vote Phil"

If Phil were the man that made my life miserable, I would vote for him as well.

Regarding the topic, it could be both Peter and Phil working together.

M.O.A.T takes place in Albion, so it´s possible that Pete is working on new partnership with Xbox, which imo, is nothing but great news!

GhostScholar217d ago

What exactly has Phil mislead about? I can’t wait to hear the verbal diarrhea you come with.

Wait.

His name is still used as a selling point for new games? Seriously?

jznrpg218d ago

If anyone knows his name you have to be extremely skeptical that what he delivers will be anything like what he says it would be and that’s best case scenario.

RaiderNation218d ago

He's like the "Tom Clancy" of video games.

InUrFoxHole218d ago

Lol what the hell man?!?!?

Number1TailzFan218d ago

I remember Black & White (PC) but other than that I can only think of Fable, B&W was a pretty cool game tho at the time.

sagapo218d ago

Populous was another one designed by Peter, released before B&W, godlike game as well, pretty good too.

Giblet_Head218d ago

I quite liked Magic Carpet growing up.

Obscure_Observer217d ago (Edited 217d ago )

"His name is still used as a selling point for new games? Seriously?"

The guy is a gaming legend for gamers who actually knows and played his games, like Dungeon Keeper, Populous, Black & White and Fable for example.

Becuzisaid217d ago

I'm certain that most who actually know who he is would contest your use of legend. He's the living, human embodiment of false advertising.

Obscure_Observer217d ago

@Becuzisaid

There´s an abyss between false advertisement and bad games.

Most gamers will get excited for games from great gaming creators rather than focus on their exaggerated promises.

Kojima described his Xbox exclusive game as "very unusual like no one has ever experienced before, leveraging the cloud." He said all publishers he presented the project, called him mad and rejected his game but Microsoft, because it´s too crazy.

Is Kojima exaggerating? Obviously. It´s gonna be a bad game? Hardly.

Imagine a game where Peter Molyneux presents an extraordinary set of ideas that players will enjoy for years to come. Now imagine that this particular game will come out because it will never exist.

Peter Molyneux has high hopes for Playground's Fable

One of the biggest reveals at this year's Xbox Games Showcase was the latest Fable trailer. After a lengthy stint of silence, Playground Games gave us a look at bits of the title, albeit in a trailer that was mostly made up of CGI nonsense headlined by comedian Richard Ayoade, who is playing a rather frustrated giant.

Molyneux asked about what he thought about the Fable reveal.

A failed hack designer has high hopes for Fable lol incoming flop confirmed!

Godmars290319d ago

Well, he's not associated with it. Giving interviews talking about features never at any point mentioned with devs let alone introduced.

It might have a chance.

Godmars290319d ago

Peter Molyneux: Hideo Kojima minus ability and skill.

Godmars290319d ago

Think you mean ethics.

Also, whose defending Molyneux? Wasn't his last game a literal ripoff with him offering a prize but not giving it?

KwietStorm_BLM319d ago

I wonder if those hopes are higher or lower than Milo?

Peter Molyneux's studio 22cans suffers layoffs

From GI.biz: "UK developer 22cans has suffered a round of redundancies, GamesIndustry.biz has learned.

The studio, founded by Fable creator Peter Molyneux, has laid off multiple employees, although an exact figure has not been disclosed.

A spokesperson said: "Unfortunately, due to a number of factors including projects reaching a certain stage in their development, we can confirm that a number of roles at 22cans have been made redundant."

sourOG1188d ago (Edited 1188d ago )

Doesn’t that always happen with every studio lol? Contract workers for certain stages.

kythlyn1188d ago

I'm just surprised 22cans is still in business. They aren't communicating at all with their customers and they've abandoned their games in early access. Godus is still a mess that they're happy to keep selling without support. I kickstarted that game, and I have regrets.

Skywalker3331188d ago

Indeed, I was almost certain that they had closed down sometime ago :P

sourOG1188d ago

Wow that blows. I haven’t heard anything about them either, I just figured they were quietly working on something like ken Levine’s ghost story games.

Eamon1188d ago

Seriously, what is Peter Molyneux up to these days? In his prime, he was the most famous western developer in the world. Now he's doing f all.

njitram20001188d ago

If you look at the 22cans website...mobile games apparently

MasterChief36241188d ago

People became privy to his practice of promising big and delivering small. He is the perennial example of an artist that has huge ambition but not the resolve to follow through with those promises. I don't dislike him, as he has brought us some good games. But he is a constant punchline for me when I think of developers getting high and mighty.

Jericho13371188d ago

I saw an interview a few years ago saying he was inspired by the mobile gaming market and that anyone can become a “gamer”.

Such a shame, for all his critics he’s brought us some fantastic games and I’m sure he’d still be able to contribute something to the core gaming market.

lonewolf101188d ago

I'm surprised that they are still going to be honest.

fitofficial1188d ago (Edited 1188d ago )

They're not actually layoffs, they're fantastical multi-faceted journeys into lands of unimaginable unemployment giving the worker near-infinite freedom of choice.

jznrpg1188d ago

Yes . Classic Peter Molyneux
